From Lunch Sessions I, my basilisk. Such a fantastic sculpt from Julie Guthrie. Painted up to decent tabletop quality. I still need to clean up the base, but that'll happen in a batch with some others. These photos are skewed very yellow, not sure why.

This past week I painted the Male Storm Giant figure from the Bones 1 Kickstarter Storm Giants set. This finishes this set for me; and, more importantly, this finishes my Bones 1 Kickstarter paint-and-post project! I've now painted every single figure I received from the Bones 1 Kickstarter and posted a painting article about it on my All Bones About It blog. I have to say it's been an amazing journey along the way. I've had the chance to experiment with a lot of techniques, and learn a bunch of new things. Starting the blog led me here to the Reaper forums where I've met a lot of cool folks. And I've also enjoyed getting to know my readers over on the blog. I painted this big fella in the same color scheme I used for his queen, Yephima, who I posted a couple weeks ago. I attempted to paint his shoulder armor as if it had lightning radiating from the face, to go with the Storm Giant theme. I also added a small nail-art gem to the hilt of his sword. Here are the king and queen together.

I painted up Mi-Sher this week. She is supposed to be wielding two swords, but I had borrowed her second sword a while back to use with my Chronomancer Apprentice, Sascha Dubois; and the figure had been sitting around my painting table off-handedly until I realized recently that with just one sword she would make a good Thug for Frostgrave. So, I found a suitable replacement hand from my bits box of hard plastic figure parts, and after prepping the figure, I super-glued the hand in place. I did a standard table-top job on her, and used a 10mm figure, painted up and mounted like a fallen and broken statue, to decorate the base. I'm generally happy with how the figure came out. The pose may be a little awkward without the second sword, but I like to think it looks like she is signaling to a compatriot as she runs along, or perhaps preparing to climb a ruin. This week I painted the "Drowned Spirit" figure to use as a wraith in my Frostgrave games. This figure was newly released when I was planning my Frostgrave harbor terrain build, and something about it just made it seem like the perfect fit to be a ghost to haunt the old harbor. So, I ordered it during the12 Days of Reaper promotion, and just now got around to painting it. To help convey the frigid Frostgrave look, I added a Water Effects icicle under the rocky outcropping and used snow flocking n the base. Also, I went with a glossy finish, instead of my usual matte, to help bring across the wet look. It is just intended for game use, so I probably didn't devote enough time as the figure deserves, but I'm really pleased with how it turned out nonetheless. As always, C & C welcome.

I was photographing something else yesterday. The something else ended badly. I was documenting it. Anyway, the Fire Elemental was nearby and the lighting setup looked promising so I let the camera have a try even though the LFE is notoriously hard to photograph. The Raw Image My phone has a small app on it from Adobe, and it has a selection of preset "effects" filters it can apply. I tried several, saved a few that looked fiery. The Filter That Looked Like Lava A Kind of Spot Lighting? Similar to Above But Darker Hope these are at least fun to look at or maybe inspiration if someone is wanting to paint fire.
