1. So I figured I'd just start a WIP thread, rather than clutter up the forum with unnecessary extras. I hate disorder (although you wouldn't be able to tell that from looking at my workspace! LOL) This week's been mostly working on Gremlins from Malifaux, I have Somer, Slophaulers and Skeeters almost done. Still waiting on flying stand order to come in for Skeeters. Somer's the Bayou Boss, and I have other Bayou Gremlins in my pile of to-be-done but we'll see how long it takes me to get to them. Betrayal at Calth (BAC) is a GW box set of Space Marines that's both a board
2. About a month ago I started painting up an Ork kill team for my wife, well they're finished and just in time too. Figured I'd post finished pictures of the team before they get wrapped and put under the tree. First up are the mooks (typical Orks with basic equipment and weapons). These are her four specialists, a commando with basic equipment (basically just a mook), a heavy with a big shoota, a leader with a power klaw, and a demolitions expert with a rokkit launcha.
3. This will be mostly Oathmark Goblins but I've also got some of Tre's Bones orcs for the bigger warriors and also some Bones Ogres that will serves as trolls. By LotR inspired I mostly mean that they won't be bright green. I've already painted some of GW's Fenrisian Wolves to be the Wargs. The blond one and the little black one were inspired by my brother's dogs. My nephews totally missed the joke when they fought against these guys in our D&D game. So disappointing... I'm trying to work out how to do the orcs skin. I'm trying t
4. https://wizkids.com/...games-workshop/ Pretty much what it says on the tin. I'd be pretty shocked to see GW allow Wizkids to produce miniatures, unless they're way out of scale with GW's stuff, but it'll be interesting to see what kind of board games they come up with. I'm also wondering if they're not looking for someone to take the place of the recently expired partnership with Fantasy Flight Games.
5. This is an ork Deffdread - basically an armoured type mech piloted by a grot (or three? always was fuzzy on the number). His base is still WIP but he's done enough to show off his paint job =D HE JUST WANTS HUGS!!!
6. I've never been much of a fan of GW. I mean the first fig I ever painted was GW, but that's because my friend (who was also the store owner) gave it to me for free (Come on, try it, the first one's free....). And I played some Bloodbowl back in the day (should really finish my Chaos Dwarf team one of these days...only been a decade or two). But I never really got into anything GW was making. Style wasn't what I was looking for, or the price point, or whatever. So then last week I was in Montreal for the GP (great time, too bad the race itself was soooooo boring). Was visiting a
7. Hey all, I've begun the process of re-basing some old WOTC Star Wars metal characters that I painted a while back. I've added a little height to each base, and now they will be more consistent with the new Star Wars Legion models. I hope you enjoy them. The first is the Cerean Jedi. This guy was my character in the Living Force campaign for many years. Next up is the Human Male Fringer. Last, for now, is a Warhammer 40K model that I painted up do be a human soldier.
8. This is fromthe Genestealer cult boxed set with a little help from some venomthropes spares. Did this for my youngest for her nid army. She insists that each unit is a different colour set and guess who gets to paint them.
9. Here are some Tau (or T'au) killteam members I painted them up for my hubby so he and I can play :D
10. I just got finished with a 12 hour drive and needed to paint to unwind...I had this old GW chaos warrior and decided to do him up for an NPC in an upcoming game. Happy with it considering my condition. Lol
11. Painted this for my son's army - have to say he LOVES to give me challenges >< First it was the skin, 'it'd be cool to have a lot of blue veins under a light skin'... Um how about just blue?? lol And of course his whole them is based on Dune and Arrakis, with the troops looking (vaguely) like Fremen, complete with blue in blue eyes So, the carapace on this was inspired by sandworms, and the little jars and stuff are supposed to be full of melange, with the skin imbued by it. Not entirely happy with the stripes, tbh, I wanted a more organic/grown look to them but eh. Live and
12. Haven't had a ton of time to paint this summer but I've managed to get a few things done. I've also been working on my basing. I plan on going back and adding some OSL to Damien but saving that for another day. The Familiar is from GW, cira 1994 and was a fun little guy to paint. C&C welcome and encouraged.
13. Well havent been online much as we just had to repalce my comp, meanwhile been working on my 30K Horus Heresy army - loyalist Luna Wolves, lead by Loken I took an army shot, tho still have work to do, mainly vehicles, but overall infantry is done. The colours are Vallejo medium grey, Reaper Weathered Stone (mixing up fr the grey, three layers to weathered stone), HL'd with Ghost White, one of my fave colours, ever
14. An actually local FLGS has opened in my home town. Being a pretty small town, the main things going on seem to be Magic and 40K. Not having a 40K army I had a look around and decided I liked the Horus Heresy marines. Problem is, Marines are a bit of a blank canvas and I don't have an artists eye for color so I tossed some different paints on a couple figs. The one I liked the best was based on Marine Teal. I think the basic color scheme is sound but I have some questions about some of the accessories. I'm not sure what to do with the bo
15. I painted an OOP GW metal Stegadon for my Lost World Project and added Foundry Aztec Crew. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=123 First some pics against neutral background And then some against my Jungle Photo Board.
16. I do finish a miniature on occasion. This one was the proof of concept. Now to finish three more for this squad (one is already done), then the rest of the force.
17. This is a 20 man (well, 17 with a unit filler) unit of skeletons that I'm working on for possible use in Kings of War. It's composed of figures by a lot of different manufacturers including Reaper, Ral Partha, GW, Grenadier, Mage Knight, and WOTC. I'm using all the different makers and scales to try and make an interesting looking unit composed of more than just human remains. I am an equal opportunity, non racially biased necromancer, after all. This will be kind of a slow burn project; I'm not in any major rush to finish these for a game any time soon. This will be something to work on
18. Grublicks idly scratched his butt. He was still in his room/cell, waiting for the crew of the trader vessel to decide whether to take him on as their newest crew member or not. He really didn't understand the hold up; hadn't he surrendered to them, and happily sold out the raiders that he had been with? Back home, that would've made him a junior officer at the very least. It was always hard to figure some of the other races different customs, though. Thinking back, it hadn't been a very hard choice; the raiders had underestimated the strength of the vessel they attacked, and got w
19. About a month ago I was at a birthday party for one of my friends and it was at that party I had an interesting conversation with another friend that lead to the creation of this miniature. This particular friend enjoys playing tabletop games and has recently been looking into playing Warhammer 40K. He already plays a few different GW games, so he is very aware of what he's getting into. So while doing some research he came across fan art of the Imperial Guardsmen with fish heads, which he quickly pulled up on his phone and showed me. We both laughed and agreed that would be a ton
20. These are actually mostly a co-op effort, I helped but my son did a lot of the work :) I did the decals and colours on the little flyers, he did washing, drybrushing on most all the rest. He wants them too look like they're from Arrakis, or a Dune-like planet. Hence the colour scheme - more of a Fremen look. And the Drybrushing fits in pretty well making most of them look 'dusty' as they would' from a desert world.
21. Haven't been able to get my lights out, I want to do some close up of some of these guys but here is their group shots. If/when I do, I'll update this thread :) I did want to do a bit more detail on them but honestly I'm suffering from can't see syndrome so I left it for now. Maybe when my eyes improve I can get some more done on them.
22. Yesterday I went to my best friend's birthday party. For anyone who saw my post about Song of Blades and Heroes this is the same friend I've been playing that with. He probably wouldn't have had a birthday party if not for his girlfriend but I think he had a good time. She had the great idea to have a gaming party (specifically tabletop) since lately with a little push from me he's been getting into them. Between my wife and I we have quite a few games. In the end we brought Song of Blades and Heroes, What Do You Meme, Disturbed Friends, Star Realms, Munchkin, and by special reques
23. These were supposed to be quick paints but somehow I still managed to take near 3 weeks to finish them. Really like the Bandits but thought they needed a little ranged fire power, so I added a couple of old GW archers to the gang. Now they just need a catchy name...
24. Pretty sure I didn't post this already... been sick as all get out. Just took some better pics, still with phone though, but hopefully they show ok:
