  1. A terrain piece from the Warhammer Battle of Skull Pass Box set. The coffee mug is from a Marx toy factory dollhouse set, attached with sewing thread. The center shield bears a freehanded icon of the Mug Guard.
  2. It took longer than I expected to get these guys done, but I'm happy with how they came out. They're part of the Warhammer Battle for Skull Pass set that I bought in 2007. The base is a bit uneven as when I glued down the back of a blister pack for the stonework it split open and I covered it in with gravel. In the future I'm going to have to use something else as it really didn't register as "stone" to my eye, but the cannon covers most of it at least. The powder barrel is a small Reaper bones barrel I've had for awhile, the cannon balls are 25mm airsoft ammo and the
  3. Most of these were painted in 2017, I believe, though I don't have track of it exactly. I organize my WIP pics in folders by date, but I gave up keeping 'count' so to speak as it interferes with actually painting and modeling! (If you want to see a particular unit you can probably just search this forum, I believe I've done individual Show Off threads for all these guys). Anyway so here's my current pride and joy :D all my boyz in their glory etc. Hope you enjoy!
  4. Finished my last model of 2017, the dakkajet for my Ork army (with extra dakka). Was tough taking pics of it sadly especially of the little gunners I added on. But anyway here tis: **Edit** His name is "Aknot" btw ;)
  5. I’m happy with the progress so far, but every time I take photos I can see missed spots or places that would benefit from more attention. Apologies for double post. Admins, Plz erase one of your choice.
  6. This is an older GW kit, little out of scale with the newer ones, so it's a good bit smaller. But anyway I present the Warbuggy! This is one of 3 I'm working on, the other two I've converted heavily and hopefully will be done to show you soon
  7. Primaris Space Marine (Warhammer 40,000) by Games Workshop This was my first warhammer figure I've ever done. I've always enjoyed the theme of the game but never really like the Space Marines because they are to short. When I saw these new, taller, ones I actually got excited to paint one. The height on these guys are amazing. They really have a better feel about them. The issue was that I only wanted to paint one (for now) and that is when a friendly forumnite told me about this book they just released "Getting Started with Warhammer 40,000." I jumped at the chance at the boo
  8. Hi All! I've just been rearranging my display shelves & have noticed that I actually have a few minis that I have never shown on these boards. They are the first ones that I painted a few years ago when I returned to the hobby after many, many years. I will show the others soon but to begin with, here's GW's Gandalf The White & Shadowfax. The actual paint job is essentialy me getting back in the swing of things by copying the image on the miniatures' packaging, I made the base terrain(s) using air drying clay, gravel & sand & added some grass clumps to f
  9. Hey Folks! Just wanted to show off some things I did 10+ years ago when I was playing 40K. I played Iron Warriors Chaos Space Marines, as I liked their backstory, Their Colors, and their ability to use some captured equipment, as well as the models for them. I also liked the fact that their back story said 'they would cut off mutated limbs and replace them with mechanical ones,' As I am not a big fan of tentacles and such all over the place. Hardly Chaos, I know... One of the unit types that came in the Army box I was able to get REALLY cheap, was a squad of Obliterators. For those
  10. I've got a bunch of these GW Chaos Space Marines taking up space, so I figured I'll paint one or 2 of them every once in a while. Kharne the Betrayer is a pretty interesting guy, so I'm going to work on him first. Early steps so far; I'm just working on his armor right now. Ignore the color on his arm; that's going to be going away soon. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!!!!
  11. Stonehaven's mounted characters are great. The small mounts are all a common size, so you can put any character on any mount. But they're also the right size for another kind of mount... edit: and looking at these pictures now, I see a few mistakes that I need to go fix. Sigh.
  12. Finally had my bases dry and got some pics of my Tankbustas and Ork Mek - the Tankbustas are conversions (basically I add a lot of rockets on them, and then more rockets) The Mek is the one in the front with the wrench and gear on a pole, and a big ol wrench in his right
  13. here's Playboy's Terrorgheist finally done!
  14. Hi all! Finished up my Slaaneshi Cult with some cheerleaders! (Inner Circle painting comp) Used the Golden Skin triad with nice results (to me!) Still working on the edge blending, but I'm happy with them for gaming level! Hair is craft store pink with Reaper Punk Rock Pink wash Metals are layering and washes of three different companies (craft, reaper, citadel) Tried a technique I read here for the eyes, using reddish liner/wash to accent the green eyes Drummer's beard is the auburn and redhead triad (Now back
  15. My son and I have been on a journey over the last nine months to play a campaign of Gorkamorka. Why so long you ask? Well, we decided that we really wanted to do it right and build terrain and mobs and vehicles from scratch. Sure we could have just played with some of the terrain I already had and lord knows I have enough orks to play a game, or thirty, of gomo but we wanted something to do together. We started by building a massive amount of terrain, WAY more than we could ever use on even four tables of gomo but we wanted variety and versatility. That thread can be found her
  16. This is another mob build for our games of Gorkamorka. This one is a more traditional mob made of orks and vehicles, no grots allowed. Goffs are pretty straightforward, even for orks. They don't go for subterfuge, most of them don't even know what that means let alone understand the concept or why you would want to fight that way. They are the epitome of orkiness, believing that might is right, that the biggest and toughest should run the show and that arguing the point will just get ya a fat lip with a few less teef behind it. Now all orks view life this way to an extent but t
  17. I finished my trukks finally! Just took some shots outside, to see how the lighting varied. I have a few bits I have to stick back on... ork stuff is truly ramshackle >< haha but otherwise, they're done =D Waiting another 24 hrs to see how the varnish did, and if I need to revarnish them (really important since I tend to do a lot of weathering and these will get handled a lot)
  18. Took some pics of my finished warbiker conversion (this is based on a deffkopta, basically a little helicopter) - WIP pics are in my wip thread. I tried several new things, mostly water effects in a more cinematic style. Tried to make the water look like it was spraying or kicked up by the bike wheels. Also did some droplet effects. Overall it's ok, not quite what I was hoping for but next time will be even better I'm sure.
  19. Right then. If all goes according to plan, this will be my first post with pictures of something I've converted / built and painted for this site. It's funny because I'm actually nervous about this posting - wondering whether I've got the guidelines down, hoping the pictures will show up correctly, etc. Showing the model doesn't bother me in the least, actually. For transparency, this model has been posted before on a different website. He was built and painted for a personal challenge that earned me nothing but glory and bragging rights - no money exchanged hands and nothing physi
  20. So whilst digging around through my 40K stuff looking for things, I found a sprue of GW's plastic ruins, and decided to assemble them and paint them up as generic terrain, hopefully to be used in our upcoming Frostgrave games.... Base coated with GW Rough Coat, a textured spray paint, sadly OOP Primed Black Dry Brushed with GW Stormvermin Fur, Codex Grey, Kommando Khaki, Fortress Grey Daubed with GW Blue, Red, Green, and Brown inks, diluted Dry brushed with GW Codex Grey, Fortress Grey, VMC Stone Grey I normally would have done a dilute Tomwise Sauce
  21. Right then. I've been on a YouTube binge for the past few weeks watching various videos by a wargames painter and her videos have made me question the way I paint my precious Imperial Guard for 40k (here's the link to her channel). Sacrilege, right? Not so. After seeing one of her camouflage videos (and then watching all of her other videos on the topic), a thought dawned on me: should I be washing these guys after I'm done stippling on their colours? A little backstory should be given before I throw pictures at you. I've always liked the German Flecktarn camouflage pattern and dec
  22. So, in order to play Gorkamorka we need some mobs. The first of these that I decided to build was the Diggas. The Diggas are humans that think the orks are the greatest thing they have seen and they strive to be just like the orks. This being the case the Diggas trade and fight with and as the orks. They use ork armor and weapons, ork vehicles are also used since the Diggas have very little in the way of technical skills, either to build or maintain such tech, vehicles or otherwise. They rely on the orks for almost all of their tech, making the orks seem even more god-like.
  23. I've started working on a classic Chaos sorcerer (variously known as Hutk'Nile, Hutk'Nke or Huth'Nke the plague priest) for a painting challenge at the local Warhammer shop. Basic challenge, paint a single GW character or infantry mini by April 1st and customers will vote for the best in store. I don't think there's even any kind of prize involved, but it's a good excuse to get something done and flex my painting muscles a bit. So, I started with some zenithal priming using spray cans: Then started on the robes: The base colour is Tausept Ochre, an old Ci
  24. I don't even know what this model is in Oldhammer, let along Age of Sigmar. But I liked it (part of a big army deal with rats and elves, I play the rats) and wanted to paint something not Undead, not rats, and to help build my KoW collection (my opponents now use him as a Drakon Lord). My NMM gold always turns out a lot better than my NMM silver, so I decided my elves, when I eventually paint them, will have gold in their scheme.
  25. Just finished this up a bit ago - not on a base sadly because I lost it temporarily on my desk. It's done just not found quite yet. this is for my son's Vampire Counts army, it's some sort of warmachine (I don't actually know what it does but I'm sure I'll find out soon!) Here are the Crypt Horrors (a larger monster type) Sadly these are really phone pics, so not the best, and the colour is a bit odd - the far left one is actually more purple than it appears in these pictures.
