  1. I decided to reboot by old space marine army and here is my first finished mini for that endeavor. I decided to go with an older look and am thus buying as much of the forge world minis for this as is possible. Yes it is very expensive but I'll enjoy they way it looks better. And since all of my old imperial fists minis need rebasing anyway, I thought I'd start over. The bases I'm using for this are the secret weapon blasted wetlands. I'm also using the Imperial Fists decal sheet from forge world. Thus, I give you the Imperial Fists MKII Standard bearer. This is a c
  2. This is a 10 man squad of Black Legion Chaos Marines made by Games Workshop. I actually started painting them a few years ago, when I still played Warhammer 40k. I haven't played in a couple of editions now, but these guys were begging to get finished up. I chose to do so as part of Inarah's paint binge this weekend. My painting ability has increased since I started these guys; stripping them to completely start over was a consideration, but in the end I just chose to push on and finish them up, trying to fix things along the way. I'm fairly happy with how they turned out; I still have a f
  3. Got a little more flesh practice in, as well as an eye. Little more freehand as well, like to think it's getting better lol
  4. Got a bit of the horde done, I tried for a pattern on one rat, grey and black. I also painted one a kind of tawny colour, which was in honour of my awesomely sweet rat of some 20 years ago, Whiskers. He used to sit on my shoulder and watch me at the computer or whatever I was doing. I really miss that little guy, such a shame rats just don't have the life span of cats :( although I guess that'd make the wild kind a bit more dangerous overall. Anyway! The middle guy here is Whiskers ^^
  5. Finished this fellow last Thursday during a GW painting event: Update: Made this fellow a sort of display base, so he can adorn my shelf in all his splendor. :P
  6. So finally got good pics of this, it's a Ghostark for my son Playboy's Necron army, a GW model thingy, for 40K.
  7. My next batch. I think the freehand's getting better, a bit. I tried to get a little fancier with the roman numerals, didn't like it as well. But now on to the next five!
  8. finished my Chaplain for my Luna Wolves :) Finally got better lighting and some better pictures. Still a line or two on him I wish I had done a better job on greenstuffing :( Really liked painting this model, it has a lot of details and I had a lot of fun painting the "plasma" effect on the gun. And a shot of him with the models I've completed thus far:
  9. Here is a project that I really got to get into. My client wanted an Imperial Knight that had turned to Tzeentch. It was to be allied with his Chaos Daemons force, so it did not need to be a Thousand Sons Knight. There is only a little bit of conversion here- the head was swapped out for the head of a High Elf Phoenix. Otherwise, the alignment was all down to coloration. I wend with a blue to purple fade for most of the armor plating- I felt this was right for the god of change, and the bright pink contrasted nicely with that (and also matched a force composed largely of pink horror
  10. Some Games Workshop skaven, which I use for wererats :) I sort of went for a polluted/radioactive look for the base...
  11. Here's a piece that I painted up for a Dark Eldar force that I've been adding to over the years. My client had the idea of having him missing most of his skin. I'm definitely keen on adding gruesome details like that to minis. So, here he is:
  12. Six archers of a Lost Army, from a Lost Kingdom, from a Lost World — six unwavering ghosts, standing defiantly in wedge formation: Reliqua Bretonnia In Memoriam
  13. my latest 5 space marines, apologies in advance I know one of the pics came out blurry but I can't take time to redo it atm supposed to be packing :P
  14. So this is one of the minis I did for my March RP challenge, coincidentally (not) it's also for Wyrd's Iron Painter Challenge Round 1 the theme of which is Pretty in Pink. I have to say, I'm not keen on pink, but I do like very much how this came out. I did two new things, in painting this figure, I did "warpaint" and I painted a kind of kilt. It's not going to win anything but I do very much like this guy and think he's one of my best to date. (Overflow of pics incoming) Official pic, since you can only have one I did a collage (in paint my only graphics proggie): And the separa
  15. I've been working on my Fabulous Force and so far I gotta say they're turning out better than I expected. But there's so much room for them to be better... For example, while the whole point of these guys is to be PINK!!! I can't help but find it a bit too monotonous. Especially on the back. It probably wouldn't take much to accent it and break up the pink a bit, I'm just not sure what to do. Opinions would be very appreciated, on any aspect of the mini. Edit: Show-off thread here.
  16. I know I disappeared ages ago and all, but I'm kind of back =] I've still been painting, winter just got me into a bit of a funk about it (I don't have a proper setup, I paint on my couch, so sadly I can't set up a daylight lamp), but now that the days are lengthening again, I'm starting to get back into it. So I've ended up owning two lots of Fenrisian Wolves - the first pack, I started painting as elemental sparkle wolves, haha, but I've stalled a bit with them, so I grabbed a second pack and painted them up a bit more normally... So here they are. My apologies, my mini photograph
  17. Not really pleased with my CAV guys, can't get them to look like I have in my head =/ But, done for now, and at least they have colour on them :( The Heavy Bolter guy is done, with my first attempt at freehanding a luna wolf symbol on his shoulder. Hopefully I'll get better. At least it sorta looks ...doglike. Right? And the big grey guy's the dreadnought, which I also tried to do the symbol on, bit easier maybe because his shoulder's flat. I am probably going to go back and add weathering when I'm all done, but I haven't figured out that part yet.
  18. Sorry in advance for kinda bad pic, had to use my phone:
  19. This is one of the five in the set, which I've been working on in my WIP thread. he's my test dummy for the theme, which is Luna Wolves. A white/black colour scheme which I converted to be light grey and black instead. I've always liked the Luna Wolves, in the stories from Horus Heresy, before they fractured into Sons of Horus and loyalists, so my take on them is right before the loyal Luna Wolves know that their Primarch, Horus, turned to the dark side as it were (aka Chaos). They were dropped on Isstvan III, where they expected to meet resistance, but it was actually a ploy to get all th
  20. This is the Technicolor Wolf's fault... Here are some Citadel Goblin Chariots and wolf Riders that I painted up back in collage in the '90s... The Box: Full Crew: Only the Chariot with the Severed Dwarf head on a spike, and it's body nailed to the tongue got finished for some reason.... This Chariot was a blister pack, with a spell caster goblin as the passenger. Never did paint the crew... The harnesses on the wolves are more advanced on this model... And 4 different wolf Riders... I have the crew for the Spellcaster's Chariot, as well as t
  21. I got a box of GW minis about 6 years ago, called "Empire Free Company". I guess they're still available? At any rate, they've been sitting unpainted for a long time but I need soldiers for Frostgrave, so I've been painting up these guys. As with the other soldiers I've been painting for Frostgrave, they're an exercise in getting stuff done quick and reasonably decent - I'm not worried about perfection, just something that doesn't look ridiculous, and that doesn't take more than a few hours to do a batch. I don't have a ton of painting time, and I have a lot to get through, so... First: S
  22. Just finished these for the boyos birthday - he turned 15 yesterday but we're celebrating today. He saw the Doomscythe model and really liked it so I started a small force for him, more to do, but this is what's finished now. Anyway, c&c is always welcome! First time I've done a vehicle, other than a car or P51 mustang lol
  23. These are for my youngest son's birthday at the end of the week so I'm trying to get them finished up to table top at least, fairly quickly. I'm trying to come up with a theme that works - he wants them to be blue. Now the traditional scheme for these is silver with some trim etc in an alt colour. Ok, I have blue metallic paint, which I'm trying to decide where to put exactly. But the issue I really have with it, is how to highlight it? It's really dark! This is vallejo gunmetal blue. I tried to add some different blues to a silver paint but really didn't like it. I do like this blue very much
  24. Last week I became the proud new owner of a second hand Skaven (GW ratmen) army. Most of the rank-n-file troops are plastic. Due to being insane and not having enough ongoing projects, I have decided to fix up and make a multi-base/diorama (for possible use in Kings of War) a whole bunch of them. I'll be making a 'horde' of ratmen on a sewer base. Officially, a horde is 40 figures, 10 across by 4 deep, in ranks. I'm going to be using less than that; the final count isn't determined yet, but I have a hard time thinking of a horde of rats in perfect military formation, so my base will be the app
  25. 'Damn it all' said Rolf as trudged through the rancid sewer tunnel. Their patrol was almost over, and here he was investigating some noise that the sergeant had heard. He shouldn't have made that crack about the man's sister. He could still barely hear the others back at the junction talking while they waited for him. 'Damn it all' he said again softly. 'There's nothing here', he thought to himself, 'I'm going back.' Wait....what was that? An enormous hole gaped in the side of the sewer passage. He raised his lantern to get a better loo and found himself staring face to face with a
