A 3D printed figure i finished up yesterday. It's a freebie that got thrown in an order image because she was damaged and some of the detail on her is a little soft (particularly her face). The pouch on her right thigh is sculpted from green stuff to cover up a broken crossbow hanging off her belt. She may not be perfect, but I enjoyed working on her.

This is Stonehaven's Half-Orc Mechanist, a nice little character for the more open-minded steampunk campaign. Have painted up some half orcs. They are from Mark Copplestone, who made them for Grenadier Games many years ago. They are still in print from 2 or 3 different small sellers. I used Vallejo leather brown Air primer (with a brush though) and Army Painter Strong tone. This covered the whole mini and made the process of highlighting and building up the base coats much quicker.

I remember the first time I saw it I just had to paint it. It seemed so odd but had so much personality. The very last picture: The last picture is of the bottom the base. I used this wood chip from a woodcrafters store. I'm fairly certain my grandfather - who lived in Tulsa OK until his death - went to this store all the time. He was Sales me by Trade and a craftsmen by... other trade. I thought it fitting to use this chip on the Half Orc Merchant. Thank you all for the support. I don't get to be a player as much as a DM. So, when I do get to play, I want to spend a little extra effort on my figure for my own PC. This is the situation for this Goldar. He is a half-orc fire specialized sorcerer, so he get's to use a Greataxe and plays a little like a one-trick pony with his fire spells. I envisioned him as very gray skinned. I tried to accomplish a green shadow blending up to gray highlights. I mixed MSP Stone Gray and Highland Moss, then highlighting with Weathered Stone. I think it just ended up as a pale green, but it is still interesting. There were glazes of GW green and red washes in the shadows. I think it would make a good zombie or ghoul flesh recipe. I tried to give a little life to his face with a few layers of thinned flesh glaze on the nose and cheeks, but it doesn't really show in the photos. His face was a tad miscast, with a flat nose and odd right cheek. The backstory of the character describes ritual branding and tattoos all over his body. I thought that would end up taking the figure toward a Goliath, so I avoided it. Instead, I put a little flame on his shoulder pad. I wanted to read as raised embossed metal, but I think it just looks like a decal. As I thought of ways to add detail, I decided to put runes on his skirt. My go-to for runes are the variant of FUTHARK used in the Ultima games. In this case, Vas Flam, which was the recipe for the fireball spell! I liked it enough, I put it on the axe. I can imagine a smart sorcerer would figure out a way to turn his skirt into a scroll. I'll see if my DM will let me do it ;) I had to re-do the armored legs and axe nmm a few times. The first time I tried the Twilight Blue triad, and didn't like it. Then I tried the Stone Gray triad, and worried it was too close to his skin. So I ended up mixing White and Black into Cloudy Gray. It ended up a little rushed. The scratches are all just painted on, a decision I made at the last minute (I tend to hate risking botching up a paint job that I'm happy with, and getting the metals to that point were almost enough deterrent to do it). Without further ado, here is my take on Goldar. C&C Welcomed.

This guy isn't sneaking up on anything. But when it comes time to bed down you'll be happy he's around.

If anybody knows what line this miniature is from, please let me know. I think it was on his base bottom, but I forgot. I just remember it saying 1984. I would think Grenadier, but I don't believe that is what it said. This was a request from a local friend I made. He has lots of older models, but surprisingly turn out nicer than expected once painted.

So here is finally my Stonehaven half orc thief. Got him finished last night. Wanted muted colors, so blacks, greys, purples and blues. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

So finally got these two finished, the two females first, and now I've got the two males pending to finish. One thing I'm a bit miffed at was that I didn't plan the grass well, so you actually can't see her delightfully painted toenails. Oh well, next time.....

I finished up Thelgar. I had some trouble getting him to cooperate with getting the pics. These are actually the best of the bunch. I may need to invest in a real camera at some point and come up with a decently lit area for picture taking. I want to thank Xherman for suggesting a wash on the leather parts. I was stuck trying to figure out what I wanted to do and I think his suggestion helped a lot. Nothing spectacular, but he'll work fine for the table top. Comments and critiques are most certainly welcome.

Hey folks! Just finished up Rogan, and thought I would post him... Love this figure! The eyes are a real pain due to the cloak hood over hang... If I had not just finished playing a thief in the last campain, I am pretty sure this would be MY new PC! Comments welcome! I just noticed something, It seems that my group and I must have an odd taste in pcs, almost all the ones that I paint and post have not been posted by anyone else! One other thing: If you do this figure in metal, be very careful in the way you remove the hands/weapons from the sprue! I had BOTH dagger pommels stay on the sprue when I stupidly tried to twist them off, so had to pin them back on. The figure in the online catalog is also missing both pommels....

So here is my take on Kanaag, Half Orc Ranger, by Gene Van Horne. I was lucky enough to find the Artist's original Artwork (Travis Salonks) for this figure, from a 10 year old post! WiP Here... I did not like his weapons, so the item in his left hand was removed, and the blade of the right hand weapon was ground down with my Dremel Tool. The Falcon idea came when I could not think of something to add to his left hand... Lots of items I had no clue as to what they were, but the concept art explained them. Overall, a fun mini to paint. Hey all! Need some opinions from you all on this guy: I like the figure, HATE the weapons! Not sure what this fascination with jagged edged blades, but I plan on swapping them out. The question is for what? Now the haft of the weapon in the figure's right hand (Whatever it is...) extends past his elbow to half way up his upper arm. So this leads me to think of it as more of a pole arm than a sword. Maybe not as the haft is 3/4 the length of the blade. Obviously a hand-and-a-half sword if not a 2 hander. The downward slope of his arm, and the way his thumb rests on top of the haft kind of rules out a sword for me anyway, as a sword of the right length would extend below the base, and his thumb is where the hilts would be. Digging through my weapons packs leads me to think that an axe is going to be my best bet, as an axe can be one or two handed, and the wrappings of the haft against his arm would work well on an axe haft. I suppose a mace or hammer could work as well.... I have the axe on the the right hand sprue, the one on the left hand sprue just doesn't seem big enough... And I have the two two-handed axes from the bottom middle sprue I suppose I could use the sword on the right hand sprue, the one next to the quiver, not the odd one... But the length takes it to the middle of the base's height, if not below... And he has no scabbard. So if you had this figure with the sword blade missing, which would you use? What would you do? He also has something in his left hand that looks like he is grabbing a bat and the out stretched wings are blades... What do I put there? As can be seen on the mini, he has daggers in different places, plus a bow and quiver. Do I just make it look like he is holding out a clenched fist??? There is some bit of a handle in his hand... So Ideas, thoughts opinions? I am beginning to sculpt a little bit with green stuff, but a whole weapon is not something to be done with GS from what I have read... But maybe a hammer or mace head? My son wanted to play a titan mauler barbarian in our ongoing pathfinder campaign. So with my Stonehaven minis fresh in hand I found one that was about perfect, except for the weapon... So with a little modification this is what I produced. I enjoyed working on this mini and I like the mini itself. The sculptor does wonderful faces and the pose, while a little more display than I would like, is very appropriate for the mini. So without further display, here is Grok Gockamuc, Titan mauler. Well, at least I didn't Drop THIS one! Have been working on and off on her and finished the painting and sealing last night, got the flock and tufts on so time to show her off! WIP Thanks to Ub3r, Tiniest Rhombus, and Mierot for the Black Base suggestion! Personally, I feel that this is my best work to date. Thanks to all of those people that have been patiently explaining Wet-Blending to me, and all off the PUSH the high lights and shadows comments from everyone!! Comments Welcome! Stonehaven half orc warrior... The shield obscured too much so I decided to leave it off.

Two days ago I got my much anticipated reward from the Stonehaven Half-Orc Adventurers kickstarter. I'm not loaded with cash, so I chose the cheaper "Party of Five" option, with one add-on. (I chose the Spellblade, Bard, Half-Dragon Duelist, Barbarian, Nobleman, & the Halfling-sized Wizard). It's been a while since I actually complete a miniature, and I'm about to start a personal challenge where I paint a mini a day for a month so I thought I'd get a little practice in to knock some of the rust off my brush skills. I started with the Spellblade since I like the look of her, & in the new edition of D&D the Half-Orc/Eldritch Knight combo would be a pretty potent combination. I think she turned out pretty well. The crimson paint on the coat is a little thick since I'd originally started painting it blue to look kinda like Master Holt from Warmachine, but I realized it might muddle the greenish skin-tone, so I opted for a more complimentary color. I considered making the sword glow, but I wanted to get it done quickly. Looking at it now I think I could stand for a bit more highlight on the khaki coat since it reads a little flat to me. Something to do later tonight I suppose. ~Muninn

Judging from the Otherworld Forums wave two of the IndieGoGo campaign is about to be delivered. So I made an effort to finish my last miniatures of wave one. First we have the Elf Male Fighter/Magic User. Secondly the Half Orc Assassin.

Hi I'm new here. I started painting about a month ago at a painting group with a guy I play D&D with. I just wanted to paint a couple of table top minis for my characters (my friend thinks this is hilarious). Anyway this was my first effort Tea, she's a half Orc barbarian with daddy issues. I know my photos are a little blurry, I may get that sorted at a later time. Any advice or points are welcome.

I have not put paint to a mini in far too long. I got a chance to do so today and used my time wisely (I think). I will try and post a picture before bed, but I am about four or five hours in on this guy. 03197: Thelgar Halfblood, Half Orc Barbarian I am currently running a PC Half Orc Barbarian. He is a dragonmarked member of House Tharashk (Eberron). Two things of note that I am attempting for the first time ever with this guy: Stubble on his head. If this doesn't work out, he will just have to deal with a clean shaven head. A tattoo (basically) that looks like one of these (probably vaguely the second one): Any tips would be awesome. Thanks!

After a lot happened to me in this last months, I finally finished one painting job, 3197: Thelgar Halfblood, Half Orc Barbarian sculpted by John Manor. His colors were picked by my son, after all this miniature is his character in our game. Can´t photograph good enough to get the colors right (we don´t have milk jugs here in the south hemisphere, and the light box I created clearly isn´t working), but the image that he is standing in the cutting mat is the "close enough" to post here. Please critiques are welcome (and now that is finished I can see the crazy eyes job I did... )
