Good even all you lovers of all things Reaper! Here's hoping you have love left for other brands as well, as tonight I'm posting a hobgoblin alchemist from the 3D printable world of Stonehaven Miniatures, digitally sculpted by Michael Evans. I really love this figure and I even like my paint job, even though as of always I noticed two spots I'm not too fond of, now that I see her on the "big screen". Not sure if I can be bothered enough to fix, but we'll see. It's already on to the next miniature I fear! Oddly enough I almost feel like the gold turned out okay, but I do see a few spots that need marked improvement. Anyhoos, hope you enjoy! My only other issue was the blue hobgoblin nose that Just didn't dare put on here, much as I didn't dare put the blue nose on my Reaper female hobgoblin archer. But I still think she came out okay in any case.

Midlam keeps doing exactly what I want. Rounding up my collection with original miniatures that pairs up well with the original. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/hobgoblin-raiding-party-volume-two?ref=profile_created Yes, THEY'RE ALL METAL. A Note on Metal We moving onto a lead free high quality pewter from a reputable metal dealer. All our past metals had a high Tin content, but could contain a small quantity of lead (typically no more than 5%). Even still, we cannot guarantee that any of our metal will be entirely lead free.

This is my first show-off thread of a smaller mini—my other ones have been D&D large size. I feel there's a lot of room for improvement, but I'm quite happy with this one, especially the eyes. C&C welcome.

So I needed a break from all the Bones 4 minis. And dug into the Bones 3 stash for variations sake. I found one of my old modules -The Village of Hommlet, and spent some time reading. Ah, The Moathouse! Brings back memories! And I got inspired to do the Bandits from the Bones 3 Stoneskull expansion, as they were similar in style to the ones I recently painted. And to flesh out the band, I added a couple of other Bones 3 minis that were in the same drawer, and that I thought might fit in a band of robbers. One quick paint job later: This one is from the "Hobgobageddon" subset in the Bones 3 core set. At retail they are sold in packs of two and two different ones. 77477: Hobgoblin Veteran Sculpted by Bobby Jackson 40mm base. Just add the bones 4 ones to this lot, and there we have a goodly group of bandits. Or a unit of irregulars / rabble or whatnot in some wargame or other.

Hello everybody, first time posting here. Normally I only paint one or two minis a year for my pen and paper games, but since my skills would never improve that way I decided to embark on a quest to paint my entire stack of minis that accumulated over the years. The mini below is going to be one of my characters. I was looking for a female half-orc with a more roguish and sassy appearance than usual, since she will be raised in civilization. I found myself out of luck; most half-orc minis seem to look stereotypically brutish. So I gave this hobgoblin archer a half-orc makeover. Since I had two of them I painted both, going to use the one with the purple colour scheme.

So here is my second hobgoblin that I've completed. I've actually got a pile of six hobgoblins, the Reaper Archer, this one and four Hackmaster Hobgoblins. Every so often I try to work on figures with at least some similar color schemes to make me work a bit more efficiently. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. With all the hobgoblins, their biggest commonality was the skin tones, after that they kind of branched out. Anyhows, here's hobgoblin number two, from a set of Shadowrun Metahumans. The set came with two gnomes (that I've already posted) and a cyclops which I'll get worked on after I'm hobgoblinned out. This guy ended up being pretty colorful. I had a full mohawk to work with so I had to throw some color into that! with those side lines of hair, I wasn't sure if those were supposed to be hair or some kind of cyborg cables, but in the end I opted for hair. Gave me a chance to throw a bit more color around! Enjoy!

Hi All, Ever since I saw this design in the Kickstarter, I really liked her a lot, and when they made her in metal, I had to get her. Of course between now and then many months have gone by but I've finally gotten her painted, together with some other hobgoblins I've been working on. When I read the Monster Manual for coloring it said "their faces are bright red-orange to red", so for whatever reason I omitted the red part and just went orange. I think she came out in any case reasonably well though. I don't work very often with multiple-piece models, and with this chicky poo, I had to attach the hand and bow to her arm. Previously I've always attached pieces at the beginning, but this time finally listened to my reasonable nerd self and kept that piece separate, and attached it after the rest of the model was painted. I had previously painted the hand when I painted her skin elsewhere, but then attached the hand and bow and ended up priming and painting the bow after everything else was ready to go and that seemed to work out pretty well. The hardest color choice I had on her actually was her bandana. Yellow was a last resort, don't know if it would have been better another color? Anyway, hope you enjoy her!

Have painted up some half orcs. They are from Mark Copplestone, who made them for Grenadier Games many years ago. They are still in print from 2 or 3 different small sellers. I used Vallejo leather brown Air primer (with a brush though) and Army Painter Strong tone. This covered the whole mini and made the process of highlighting and building up the base coats much quicker.

So, I went to Origins this weekend and entered the Reaper Speed-Paint. I was only supposed to be at the con on Friday and Saturday, but I paved on Friday and won my Saturday semifinal, so I called in sick on Sunday so I could compete in the finals, where I managed to pull off a win. Friday was the scarecrow, Saturday was the hobgoblin, and Sunday they gave us the Jungle Titan. I'd already painted two of the three before, which certainly didn't hurt when it came go time. I didn't get a chance to get pictures in my photo studio before heading out on vacation, so these are the shots I took with my phone at the convention. We had 45 minutes in round 1, 50 minutes in round 2, and a whopping 60 minutes in round 3.

@LeonR344 @LittleBluberry Had asked about doing weapon swaps with the new bones weapon packs. So I thought I've never really done one before either but I thought I'd offer up my bones for science in a how to / WIP. I've never done a WIP before so bear with me,and here we go.

So I have been working on this guy since the middle of April, and finished his base and final assembly tonight, So I give you The Hobgoblin Cheiftain & Death Chicken! I am taking many pictures to try and find flaws, as well as to solicit opinions as to the best way / angle / composition because Infamy miniatures is holding a painting contest for this figure, and I can only send them 6 pics. (PS if you have this mini, just entering the contest will net you a store voucher of 10 GBP! Entries by 30 June) I will likely post more pics when I get a better idea of what to do.... Thanks for looking, and critiquing! Special Thanks to those that followed along in the WiP, as well as the Hangouts for all the encouragement and suggestions! George

Lidless Eye Hobbies WiP: Axe and Brimstone
Lidless Eye posted a topic in Works in Progress: Painting
I skipped a few steps, but I actually remembered to take a WiP shot of my set from the "Song of Blades and Heroes: Axe and Brimstone" Kickstarter. There's also a few Hobgoblins who I started in hopes it would motivate the delayed KS package to arrive quicker (it worked!)- 2 replies

So while nattering away on the Google Hangout that Guindyloo set up for the Memorial Day Painting Binge, He got finished.... I think he came out pretty good, nothing I would consider more than a high end Table Top.... Not really pleased with his eyes, but after the third or fourth repaint, I said to Hades with it.... WiP Here Thanks For Looking! George

So since I only had 3 main projects and the diorama going, I am starting something else! This is Maglubiyet, Chief Deity of Goblins and Hobgoblins, who made his first appearance in the old 'Deities and Demi-Gods' from AD&D first edition... Maglubiyet is described as a giant (11 feet tall), black-skinned goblin with flaming eyes, powerfully-muscled arms and sharp talons. He is said to wield a mighty coal-black battleaxe that constantly drips blood. The mini is pretty cool, nicely cast with few mold lines, one of which I found while doing the initial base coat, of course... So here he is with a base coat of MSP Blue Liner: The eyes are gonna be fun.... If I had a couple more of these, I think they would make awesome statues for next to the doors of a temple... George

Something's been bugging me ever since I saw the desire to have more hobgoblins in Bones 3. What is a hobgoblin's distinctive features? Often, I see them as basically normal humanoid shape and size, with some beastly facial features who aren't as exaggerated as orcs. Yet, we already have plenty of minis that fit that description in the form of half-orcs. Same basic shape, different skin colour, may have body hair. So the question to my fellow Peepers: "What should be the difference between hobgoblins and half-orcs minis?"

Why not? I've never sculpted before, but I enjoy painting minis. I've done a few very minor mods before. I wanted more. So I decided to try making my own custom mini. I read the article in Kinetic7 vol 1, swung by a suprising number of craft/ art stores, decided on a build, and went to it with as little foreplanning as possible (before I lost my nerve). I decided to try to make a female Hobgoblin hero archer. Why? Well, our Fighter cleric just picked up a hobgoblin cohort in our DragonLance game and there don't appear to be any female hobgobling archer minis already lying about on the interwebs. Also, hobgoblins are kind of ugly, so there is room for lots of error. They are more heavy set, so I can get away with less fine detail if I want. And finally, it's not someone's main PC, so I feel way less pressure. To make things easier on myself I decided to base my creation off a mini I already have lying around: 03166: Alistrilee, Elf Archer by Bobby Jackson Spent more hours than I should have last night getting the basic shape down and making her face. Results below. First thoughts? Fun! Also, Sculpey Firm is still really soft and I didn't even use clay softener. I kept having to put it in the freezer for a couple minutes to firm it up. Next time I may just go with the harder greenstuff-like-stuff for everything and not just the underbase (but I am also not sure I can work that fast).
