Melissa & Luigi Casaretto’s journey began in 2012 as a fundraiser selling Peruvian Alfajores for their daughter’s dance event. It eventually flourished into a successful online cookie bakery. In 2017 they bought the kitchen they used to rent in Elizabeth, Colorado and Sweet Alfas was finally a brick and mortar shop. In 2020, the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic started to take shape and as early as February we started to see our sales dipping. We improvised and started serving curbside and specialty meals to survive. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to save the bake shop and kitchen after all. Our business survives primarily on our wholesale efforts and our biggest accounts had to cut their orders by 50%. After reviewing our options we had no choice but to temporarily close and halt our 5 person operation. After mulling over what to do next, we decided we were not giving up without a fight. In order to raise funds we are opening our kitchen publicly to the world in the shape of a bakery and kitchen cookbook(as well as other unique perks we are offering). All of our secrets, techniques and ideas will now be available in your own home. With your help we can catch up on our lease, payroll, supplies and help navigate these new waters we are traveling through. In 2019 our community stepped up and helped us fund a new mixer when we were struggling. While we appreciated the community effort and love our community we have always wanted to give back. So instead of asking for handouts, we are asking you to help us fund a 100 page cookbook with detailed recipes and photography. What We Need & What You Get By purchasing our cookbook you can help us catch up on our lease, payroll, supplies and help navigate these new waters we are traveling through with some expansion of our kitchen, bakery and staff. You’ll notice we have some tiered packages. We are not only going to offer our cookbook, we are going to include shirts, hoodies, master class videos and gift cards. Our goal is $20,000 which is what we were asking for from the SBA. At this time we’ve received very little confirmation from the SBA about our loan. So instead of asking for forgivable money, we want to fund a cookbook for our most loyal customers and supporters. We would rather earn it and show you some love back. The Impact We have always wanted to make a cookbook and now this opportunity has forced our hand. So on the positive side, we see a win/win situation. We can provide something special globally and save our local bakery, maintain our wholesale accounts in Parker and Aurora, keep our employees and remain in Elizabeth, CO. Many of our customers across the US can not try some of our more traditional baked goods because it’s expensive to ship them. So this gives everyone a chance to try our baked goods. They say restaurants don’t survive after a year of being in business. We’ve survived 3 years and were finally making the right strides. We’re gonna be here for a very long time and we may even continue pressing cookbooks in the future. Risks & Challenges This will not be a short order(pun intended). We will have a long road ahead of us and we are still not in the clear from everything happening globally during this pandemic. We will use the funds to catch up and reinvent ourselves(a 3rd time) in order to adjust to the "new normal" of Covid-19. We are hoping to add a fryer and overhead extinguishing system to provide some fried goods, donuts and churros. We will need to negotiate with debt collectors, property managers and our accounts. We will need to heavily market this cookbook and our bakery. Melissa and I both come from extremely competitive marketing and sales backgrounds in the tech industry. MOLOCH - THE MOUNTAIN GIANT After Rocco, Jérémie Bonamant Teboul and Allan Carrasco, two stars of the miniatures scene, are teaming up again to produce Moloch, the tallest Figone miniature ever! This is your chance to help bring this ambitious project to life. As aficionados of his work can attest, monsters and orcs are Allan’s specialties. He first gave our brushes a massive mounted orc. Giants, by their proportions, are monsters which allows him to show his ability to give life to impressive miniatures. FIGONE is a French miniatures company founded by Jérémie in 2009 and dedicated to producing and selling high quality figures for collectors, sculptors and painters. FIGONE has what it takes to make a finished sculpt commercially available. With Indiegogo and your help to fund this huge, highly anticipated project, Rocco was born. Moloch will be the tallest miniature ever produced by FIGONE and the one of the largest ever sculpted by Allan Carrasco. Moloch will be a large 54mm scale miniature cast in high quality resin, the tallest ever in Figone 170mm!!!! Here you'll see the final miniature, along with the final concept by artist Bertrand Benoit. Don’t forget that Allan is an artist and these drawings have served as inspiration rather than a concrete blueprint. He followed them closely but added more details here and there, e.g. a larger claymore, various ornaments, slight changes on the position (back for instance). As part of this campaign, Romain Van den Bogaert sculpted a new funny bust: Flap. Straight from Jérémie and Romain's imagination, this bucolic character opens a very wide interpretation panel which should appeal to artists and collectors. Allan Carrasco has started sculpting the miniature, so that we'll be able to start casting minis as soon as the main goal is reached. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/terrain-that-s-truly-epic-city-walls#/story A bit about me As you will see I am not the best photographer but I am a huge fan of 6mm and 10mm gaming, having been playing war games for well over two decades.. I love the huge scale battles that this miniature size allows you to fight over but I have found that the one thing that is often lacking from these monumental conflicts is the terrain to really make it feel as epic as my vision of the background. I always enjoyed modelling projects but terrain of the scale I had envisioned often eluded me as it requires such accurate replication. However, when I began to learn digital 3D modelling I realised this was how I could bring my ideas to life. After a year of different smaller projects I eventually began work on my first set of truly epic terrain! The Project This campaign is to put my resin City Wall project out into the world and help me to: Judge interest in terrain on this scale to decide if it is worth setting up an online store. Allow me to gain some money back from the 3D printing of the City Wall originals (I don't expect to get the entire cost of everything I have spend but I have learnt a lot from the project and that in its self has been great for me). Any money recouped from the project will allow me to fund future projects so that they can come to a crowd funder in a well developed state (as this one is) with the printing done and the moulds made. So why should you back the project? First and foremost it allows you to get some awesome terrain cheaper than it will be sold if I can set up an online store. For a crowd funding campaign the project is quite far along so there are very few risks; the moulds are already made and have been used to cast the test set you can see pictures. Because of the point above this will be flexible, meaning that you will get the perks you pay for even if we don't hit the target (basically the amount for the first stretch goal). You can customise what you want if we reach the first stretch goal, adding extra walls, changing the bastions out for the taller ones, having more than one gate, etc. It is unlikely I will be able to offer this even if I can set up a shop. Even if I don't set up a shop as a campaign backer you will be able to contact me to add to your walls. Its about time to show off some pictures I think! Below is the 3D sculpting of the walls. I think it shows off the details nicely (also as I have mentioned my photography isn't the best). The above shows one "set" of the City Walls. It is modular so can be put together with the straight sections by the gate should you wish, or one corner but the gate and one straight section or with the gate over to one side. Whatever the scenario you are playing demands. In terms of size the City Wall set measures just over 3 foot in length. The platform at the back is 4 inches high and wide enough for three 20mm infantry stands to be placed side by side along the straight or corner sections and the gate towers are a massive 11 inches high (well just over actually). Now onto some pictures of the real deal! In the pictures above, the doors have been modeled closed. If we reach the £1000 you will be able to buy extra sections as well as extra doors so you can have one set open and one set closed should you want to. So not as to take up too much space with pictures and have some text get lost at the bottom of the page for the other pictures, with some 6mm models so you can get a better idea of the scale, just scroll down. Where is my money going? The obvious aside (mould making and resin) by far and away the biggest cost for this project is the actual 3D printing of the pieces. Anyone who has who has done this themselves will have already guessed this from the size of the City Walls but I wanted to give everyone a clear idea that the majority of the money is going towards getting some of the cost of this.
