With Bones 4 only about a month away from delivery, I decided it was finally time I finished up the Goremaw Optional Add-On figure I got with Bones 3. I've been messing with the figure for at least a year I think, and this was it's lucky week. As always, I paint for game-table use, so it's not too fancy. I painted the Merrow from the Bones 3 Stoneskull expansion this past week. As I looked at the figure, I decided I wanted to play up his aquatic nature, and thought it might be fun to paint him like a frog; and then I thought it might also be neat to do him in wild colors like some kind of Poison Dart Frog. Looking at pictures of colorful frogs, I decided in the end to copy the coloration of a Red-eyed Tree Frog. I finished my Damaris Walmund, Duskwarden, yesterday. I painted her to look Elf-like, since she will be joining my Ghost Archipelago all-Elf crew in the role of a Hunter. I'm really pleased with this one; it's about as good as I can manage. The jacket is Folk Art Color Shift paint, which turned out pretty neat as a pearly metallic, but I don't see much color shifting in it. I tried for a strawberry blond on the hair, but it ended up going more pinkish; not that that's a bad thing. Her face was a challenge, particularly the way the vest collar partially obscures part of the mouth and the hair partially overhangs the eyes. For some reason painting parts of things is harder than painting the whole... And I noticed in the photos that here's a little bleb of dark paint over her left eye. Oh, well, consider it a birthmark, as I am not going back in and repairing it at this point and risk messing up the whole thing! On the base, I attempted to blend her integral cobbled base into a grassy surrounding by adding some loose cobbles around it, cut from a bit of Bones sprue, as if it was part of some ruined floor for path and slowly breaking apart.

Even though I got these during last year's 12 Days of Reaper, I only just got around to painting them! I tried an experiment with these; painting them first with special Chrome spray paint, and then using Citadel gemstone transparent paints on them: Spiritstone Red, Soulstone Blue, and Waystone Green, in an attempt to given them that lacquered mirror look that real ornaments have. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. In the second photo, they are shown with Copplestone's "Lovely Assistant" to give a sense of scale with a normal sized human figure.

I had never painted a Garrick the Bold (Sir Forscale) before, and since it seems everyone and their brother around here has, I thought it was about time I did too. Coincidently, I needed a knight for a new Frostgrave warband I was working on, so I thought it would be the ideal time to do a Garrick for myself. Since he is going to be fighting in colder climes, I first modified him by adding an old GW cape to the figure. Also, since he is going to be employed by a Sigilist wizard, I did some freehand lettering on his shield.

This past week I started the Dark Heroes set from the Bones 1 KS, and painted the two knights: Mangu Timur and Ragnaros, Evil Warrior, from that set. For my upcoming Savage Worlds Mystery Men game I needed some Disco Boys for bad guys. I painted these up real quick, I need a bunch more. I gave this photo a "Grindhouse" look...

Over the weekend I finished up Damiel, Iconic Alchemist, from the Bones 1 Kickstarter Iconics and Officially Licensed Pathfinder Miniatures Set. Since he is an alchemist, I thought it might be fun to give him a white lab-coat. Painted for the tabletop. C & C welcome.

This week I worked some more on my Christmas-themed Enchanter warband for Frostgrave, by painting the Special Edition figure, "Christmas Eve" to be the warband's apprentice, Mrs Claus. This is the third figure I've completed for this warband. I've painted Santa as the Enchanter wizard, and Yukon Cornelius as the group's Treasure Hunter. Here's a portrait of the Santa and Mrs Claus side by side. I think they go together pretty well. I like that he's all fierce and disheveled looking, and she's all serene and tidy. :)

Knowing I would be short of time for painting this past week due to Spring Break traveling, I skipped doing another figure from the Bones I Kickstarter "Necromancers" set that I had been working on recently, and instead selected one of the simpler figures from the Bones I Kickstarter "Townsfolk II" set to paint: the Village Rioter. I did a quick tabletop paint job on him and think he turned out pretty good. As always, C & C welcome.
