    Emperor Cat - DSM7986

If anyone has noticed I was a bit busy for the past few weeks...chuckle. I started working on this miniature and became totally obsessed with it. Purple is not my easiest color to use, then combine it with the cat features, and that huge tail and you have some nice challenges. I decided I wanted to mount it as if it was giving a speech. That brought on a few more challenges. When you have a white robe, on a white marble floor, how do you hide the the clipped off part of the base that remains ? I had to work that one out, while setting up some kind of balcony/arbor/some type of platform to make it feel right, and look its best. Here is my attempt to pull all this together. I removed the broccoli that it came with. Your comments/criticism are always welcome. Please let me know what you think of the Cat Emperor !

    Lara Kraft - Reaper-03576

I had no intention of completing another mini (let alone a mouseling) this week. I just started working on her, and laughing, and giggling, and well. She got finished. I had a base in a baggie that I thought I would never have a use for, and well, I did ! So here we have Lara Kraft, Adventuress by G. Van Horne. I have the picture of her in my mind breaking into a lair of bad guys, jumping onto the pillar at the top of a staircase, and taking them all on ! I thought the gym outfit would fit her spontaneous spirit. Your comments/ and criticism is great appreciated. Do leave me a comment, I love getting your input.

    Half Orc Fighter - halforc000002

I was reading an article about learning, and it said that you only learn when you are uncomfortable !!! Well, I have been uncomfortable since I started this mini. I honestly had NO idea what a half orc was, how to paint it, How to base it, or what to do with it ! ROFL. So I just started painting up a color scheme, then I saw the bracelet.. Female ?? Maybe... So that changed a few things. Then I just decided go for it, be uncomfortable, and do something different. Well, Its different. I mixed all my own colors, and just went for the Gusto. Oh.. the rock is a chunk of tree bark ! (Like I said, something new for the basing). So, Here is the Female Half Orc Fighter by Stonehaven. Your C&C's are greatly appreciated, and desired. Please let me know what you think.. I added a better photo showing her from a straight on view. Now you can see her face. Jay

    "NOM" Cat Paladin - DSM8079

NOM The Russian Blue Cat Paladin stepped into the garden to commune with his god for a few minutes, with the hope that he might, in turn, be blessed with a mouse from on high ! Here he is standing quietly in the garden. Total delight to paint. I had to make him a Russian Blue Cat, I thought it would be a lot of fun to do, and it was. The more I messed around with this one, the more I enjoyed it. The flowers on the base were a hoot to do, I went into flower by flower and leaf by leaf mode as I got into it. Gave me the splash of color I was looking for. Your comments and Critiques are greatly appreciated and solicited. Please let me know what you think of my effort with Nom, The Russian Blue Paladin"...

Rabbit Mage with Staff - DSM8061

Finished this Miniature LATE last night. It was so much fun doing it, I couldn't put it down! Of course, that explains why I am dragging butt today ! I wanted to play around with colors, and decided I needed a white challenge, I sure got it ! This was a Christmas present so I wanted to get it finished to show the giver that I really appreciated the gift. I like the way the colors are bouncing off each other. Shadows were very interesting, especially as I rotated the miniature around. I based him standing in snow on a walnut colored base. That added some drama to him. Your comments and critiques are always welcome. Do leave me a note please. Here is the Rabbit Mage:

    King Pelinore - TM-3016

I finally picked up one of my Tom Meirer Sculpts that I so dearly love to paint. The are used by me as a teaching tool. Once you know how big they are, they give you a bit of pause to paint one. I'll include a beginning photo for scale. I was doing a lot of experimenting with the reds. On some of those reds there are 20 plus coats of paint, and probably 10 different shades of red mixed together to give me the final colors. None of those reds are out of a dropper. I've worked on this for about two weeks. While taking photos I noticed that I was peeling off the edge primer (?) this is a new one for me. Maybe it has to do with the cold temp in my painting room. I corrected the slight edging flash. So Here is King Pelinore by Thunderbolt Mtn. Your comments and criticism are desired and requested. Please leave me a note about this mini. Jay

    Ari Sparrow - DSM7971

This has been a whole lot of firsts for me ! Everything about this mini has been a challenge, including the weather. I have never attempted to sculpt a tree before ! Here is Ari Sparrow, Female Cat Pirate - The Scourge of the Seven Seas. She is well equipped to scratch your eyes out; but the other things she can do are worse ! Here she is on her treasure island, standing next to her loot ! Be careful, She Does Not Share ! Hope you enjoy her, and please leave me a note. Your C/C are greatly appreciated. Jay

    03577 - Asiago Jones

I was given this mini as a gift prior to my working on the 54 mm Norsk Lord. This mini is 3/4's of an inch in height. I don't think I have ever attempted to paint something so small. The delight and joy of doing it far eclipsed it's size. Such a delightful and whimsical little creature. I'm calling it Asiago Jones and the Temple of Cheese ! He has just rescued the infant mousling, and angered the gods of the temple, and the ground is cracking up around him, and the lava is beginning to break out ! Here is Asiago Jones and the Temple of cheese. Your comments would be most appreciated.

    Krass Omenthrall - Reaper

This is one of Sandra. Garrity's impressive and dynamic sculpts. I really enjoyed trying to show off the dynamic movement, drawing attention to the fine carving, and elements she incorporated into this miniature. Was a lot of fun to paint. I really got into blending and highlighting the figure. When it came to the base, I chose snow to really bring up the contrast, and draw attention to the figure. As always; Your C/C are very welcome and solicited. Leave me a comment please, Its great to get feedback. So here is Krass Omenthrall, as I see him. Jay

    Elia Morningsong. - SHD15

I wasn't expecting this to be as challenging as it became. The changing weather had a lot to do with the capability of my hands to do what I wanted. I spent a lot of time painting this piece, and also working out how I was going to present it. Its tons of fun to do, and once you get it done, then you have to figure out how to base it !! Therein lies the rub. so here is my interpretation of Elia Morningsong and her pet fox. "Elia descended into the meadow as she went to visit the land of humankind once more". In the meadow she touched the shrubs, the plants, the earth, and the trees. Wherever she caressed the plants, the earth burst into bloom, and she brought the joy of spring to the Earth. Here is Elia Morningsong, Bringer of joy, and Spring to the Earth. i didn't like the distance on the photos, so I took some close ups so you can see the mini better. This should give you a better feel of what it looks like. Your comments are appreciated !

    Bloodknuckle Grymm - SHD17

This is the first Stone Haven Miniature I have painted. It was a blast to do. I had a lot of fun playing up the comical part of the miniature. Its just a fun sculpt to paint. Small, but lots of character. Just the smile with the little teeth, and then ability to put some character in the piece made my day. Hope you appreciate the Dwarf Berserker.! Let me know what you think !

    03160 - Krass Omenthrall

I was looking at this mini, and I see a lot of potential for growth (besides it being so danged dynamic). I have primed and lined him, and I have applied a base coat of "Blue Gunmetal" to the armor. I am thinking purple, gold highlights, blues, and blood red shadows, and tints. I'm being ambitious on this one. I'm paying it back for the amount of blood it drew from me while filing and assembling it ! This is one "sharp" (Literally) miniature ! So, put on your seat belt, tip the nice ticket taker in the scanty outfit, and off we go. Here is where he begins.

    SV-02 - Norse Lord

"The new Jarl sat on his fathers chair. Three months ago; it had been feasting, drinking, wenching, battles to partake in, the clash of weapons and war. Now since the old Jarls passing it was endless council meetings, diplomacy, and boredom. Oh to be guilty, and alive once more !!!" This is an Andrea 54 mm metal miniature. I was given this as a gift, and the moment I held it in my hands I went nuts with anticipation. I have been working on this for 23 days. The detail is incredible, the whole sculpt is a wonderful challenge. I have adored every moment working on this. While I still maintain my preference for 25 mm pieces, I won't shy away from another 54 mm piece. Amazing what it feels like to have space for creativity. As always; your C/C are welcomed, and sought after. Leave me some feedback; please. Here is my interpretation of the Norse Lord. Norse Lord

I have been cleaning and filing this Miniature since Sunday morning. This was a gift from my best friend for co-celebrating his wedding. Knocked me out of the park when I opened it. While they are away on their Honeymoon, I have the pleasure of putting this incredible sculpt together. Mold lines on base have been driving me up the wall. So I now have gotten my first 54 mm challenge. Quite an interesting piece of work. I took some photos as I have started his assembly. Feels good to have a WIP again. Here is what I am working with, oh.. small bag still holds helmet, arms and head. The helmet (much to my relief) does NOT have horns. That does a Nordmans heart good. Jay.

    Kaia Stormwitch

I was given this mini as a gift, and decided it was something I hadn't a clue about painting. I've never seen this style before and I am totally unfamiliar with any story line about it. So, I decided to just paint her as I would imagine her to appear. I had a very ambitious base planned, but there is no way I will get it accomplished in the next three weeks, so I went with a bloodied slate walkway. Calling the troops to continue smashing the enemy. Here is my interpretation of Kaia Stormwitch ! Oh, it is marked CW1980. I was not able to take a standard face on photo, due to the flat casting that this piece is in, and all you see with a face on photo is "an Elbow".. Sawwy! Click on the photos; they do enlarge. edited to add ... Two more photos taken on a lower plane to show details. C and C are always welcomed and appreciated ! Jay

Yoshi The Mousling Samurai - 77288

Two Reapers in succession !! Who would have thought ! This was a painting, and a basing challenge for me. I tend to attempt both in the same mini. A wonderful mini (extremely amusing) to paint, and a challenge to base. I had a blasts doing him. I so wanted to share what I was thinking while doing this, if nothing elsel just the deep laughing while doing it. You comments and criticism are always welcome and desired. Here's Yoshi, the mousling Samurai.

    TBM-3021 - Black Knight

This is a 25mm mini (that's one inch tall)...I always forget to say that when I do one of Tom's mini's. This is SMALL..Very Small..LOL. I love the darn things for some reason. Tom is a fantastic sculptor, and I adore anything that he sculpts. Just realize it WILL be a challenge. I approached the Black Knight on foot (I have another mounted) with a lot of trepidation. Its complex. The shield if 1/4 by 1/4 of an inch, and that lion took a small brush, and absolute breathing control to do. So.. Here is my interpretation of the Black Knight. Your comments, and critique are greatly appreciated. Its the only feedback I get now since I no longer do the WIPs. Here is the Black Knight.

    Shensen - 60069

Yes this is a Reaper Miniature by B. Rudolfi. I find it hysterical that I have painted another female in "Combat Attire"... I've been quietly working on her since I finished the last one. Again, I insist on working on these small mini's. So here is my interpretation of Shensen, I didn't bother looking at what other folks have done Hope you like what I have done !. Oh.. I forgot to mention, She is ONE INCH tall ! I really should post a photo of these next to a quarter ! Your comments/Criticism's are welcome, and always appreciated. So here is Shensen: .

    Cersei Lannister - DSM5005

I've been working on Cersei for over two weeks. I decided to kick up my basing skills a notch, and so I selected this Tom Meirer Sculpt, and decided to give her a fitting base, and hone the painting skills a bit further. She is 25mm (one inch tall), and an incredible piece of art. I avoided the base she came with and dreamed up my own, and made it from scratch. I pulled out a couple of old skills, and built a balcony for her. I have totally enjoyed painting and basing her. As always your comments and criticism are welcome, and desired. Let me know what you think of Cersei Lannister. Jay
  20. I thought after I posted the finished Cersei Lannister that I really should show how I created the base, and put the final touches on her. It was an amazing amount of work, since I was really clueless about what I was doing. I just knew that I wanted to show her off in the best possible light. So.. here is what I did to get her based. I used the following: 1 1 inch square plastic base. 1 1 Inch square wooden block. Cork board in various sizes. Green stuff for rocks and the top of the balcony. 1 joker from a deck of cards with a black and white pattern. Midnight black paint to fill in between the card backing and around the rocks. I printed out a banner from a medieval history website, and used a bamboo toothpick as the banner staff painted white, with a gold top crown. I also pinned Cersei so I could place her where I wanted.. Here are some photos.

    Frog Witch - DSM7921

This miniature started out with a totally different color scheme and then took off on its own. She is far from the black robes that I originally thought she would have ! To say I had fun would be an understatement ! Your Comments and criticism are welcomed and greatly desired. Magda dropped down and landed at the agreed upon meet up point. She scanned the skies waiting for her friends to appear, and then to travel together to the witches gathering.

    DSM7921 Frog Witch

Its the First day of Autumn, and Halloween is almost upon us. I have been very good about NOT painting another Froggy for quite some time now. My funny bone is in need of a tickly...SO.. Here is the Frog Witch NOT to be confunsed with a sandwitch however ! I intend to have a lot of fun painting her. I can see pink bloomers, purple socks, Brown Robes, and I'm going to just play with what type of frog she is color wise. The poison dart Frogs have a myriad of colors associated with them. So we shall see where I wander. Here is the Frog Witch Primed, and coated with brown liner. I went banana's removing mold lines, and I know I am going to find another one somewhere.
  23. Here is my interpretation of the Dwarven Fighter with Great Axe from Dark Sword Miniatures I absolutely adore painting these things. This one was an awful lot of fun and challenge. As always, your C/C are requested, and desired. Let me know what you think of what I have done with this guy. *********************** After days of walking Frerin Redbeard's grip around his Father's great axe tightened. Whoever knocked down the family's red hued Rune Stone would not live to see another day !
  24. After working on the Young Lady in Waiting with puppy in showoffs Forum, I decided I needed to do something larger and a dwarf looks like it fills the the need. I see horns on a helmet and I shudder (Norwegians tend to go nuts with that imagery), but since it is on a dwarf, I'll go with the flow. This is a detailed mini, lots of furs, metal, and very dynamic. I'm going to go for it. Oh, I've already designed a base for him in my head.. another challenge ! Here is what he looks like prior to priming, and lining. I intend to take my time on this.
  25. As a young Nobel Woman; Elena learned that there were few that she could trust. Here joy was extreme when she was given a puppy for her very own. If only that puppy could talk ! There are some things that are hard to resist, Puppy's, Kittens, and Tom Meirer 25mm miniatures. I'm drawn to them like a moth to the flame. I was gifted this miniature by a friend, and I have tortured myself forever by not painting her. I finally succumbed. Here is my vision of "The Young Lady In Waiting with Puppy. Your comments/Critiques are greatly desired. Leave me a message. ETA: corrected English spelling, not Norwegian accented English !
