Hello everyone, I just finished gluing the cavalier onto its mount. The horse was sculpted by Sandra Garrity and the cavalier, a Bones black version, was sculpted by Jim Johnson. Also I replaced the polearm for a spear from Weapons Pack IV, which was sculpted by Werner Klocke. All these parts are made by Reaper Miniatures. I had planned to use a black backdrop, but after some experimentation, I found that a white background worked much better. The white color of the horse was too saturated on a black backdrop, and the different shades of gray from the horse's coat didn't come out well in the pictures. I'm happy to say that this model will be one of the main pieces in the diorama I'm currently working on. Have a great day!

Hello everyone! Here's Tolgh the bellicose, Tolgh the vainglorious, Tolgh the lesser demon, for he has many names. This model was sculpted by Jim Johnson. It was part of The Court of Abyst boxed set, sku: 10005, now out of production. It is 41 mm tall, the base is 25 mm. The wings come from a 02040, gargoyle sculpted by Bob Ridolfi, also made by Reaper. I also added flames to his scimitar and base to create a warm environment just for him.

Hi all you fine Reaper folk and folkette! So this next miniature, which I finished up a few days ago, I've actually painted with a special purpose in mind. Melissa Noe, the wife of Mike Noe, the president and one of the owners of Iron Wind Metals, which was formerly as many of you know Ral Partha, has come down with brain and lung cancer, and with all the medical treatment comes a large amount of medical bills. A GoFundMe.com page was set up, which I'll put here, hopefully not violating any forum rules, where if anybody was interested, they could certainly donate. Mike and Melissa Noe Go Fund Me I myself am not much in a position where I can just send cash, but it did occur to me that if I was to paint the proper miniature and threw it up on auction on EBay, maybe I could raise some money this way and send it over to Mike and Melissa, two very kind persons that I've worked with and collaborated with over the years, visiting a number of occasions their factory, doing some little projects for them, and doing a lot of painting for their web page. You can easily find him out there on EBay with the key words Ral Partha Molydeus . So when I chose this miniature, I went for something that I thought would be rare enough, and "impressive" enough, to hopefully generate some interest. Over the years I've seen this piece on EBay for crazy amounts so figured he'd be a good candidate. So with that in mind, behold Molydeus, sculpted by Jim Johnson for Ral Partha's TSR Planescape line back in the nineties. There apparently aren't that many of him around any more, so I'm hoping that a few people might fancy the idea of having one of the few hanging out there, complete and in my super humble opinion decently painted. He's on a ten day auction, and whatever money is made from his sale will go directly to Mike and Melissa to help cover their medical bills that have been slowly accumulating. Hello my little Rearperlificos! so tonight just got finished up and photographed, a male and female fighter in plate armor, sculpted by the enigmatic Jim Johnson (one of those sculptors I know nothing about but has had a hugely prolific career) that he sculpted I think back in the nineties when he did a range of figures for Partha, which were a male and a female version of the same character class. I've already painted up a bunch of these different figures, and these are my most recent ones. I wanted to do red as their breastplates, helmets and grieves with more bronze tones than gold, after seeing Anne Forester working on bronzes in Twitch with the Kickstarter V Centaur. I'n not ver happy how the vertical bronze strip came out on the male fighter, but buh, too lazy to really keep fixing to perfection. Also, this is the second time I took pictures of these figures because there was lots of crud, dust and hair on the figures the first time. I went back and rephotographed them a second time and I still see a few little dust spots even though I knocked a bunch of them off. Anyhoos, here they are for your viewing pleasure: the female: The male: and being they were originally sold in a blister pack together, here they are in the same photo: I would usually put them on bases but the gal has a wide base that is a little too big to fit on the one inch base, and I didn't have a slightly larger base sitting around so I just sealed them really good and am going to leave them like that. In any case they just sit in a display case, a display case in my unfinished basement that nobody except myself ever sees, oh the humanity......

Hello all those in Reaperdom! So just finished this figure last night and just got him photographed, an Earth Elemental Lord, sculpted by Jim Johnson. Tried to keep him mostly in earth tones because he's an Earth Elemental Lord: His original blister came with a large earth elemental and a little elemental lizard. Going to be painting those in the near future. Enjoy!

And good evening to all of you of the Reaper persuasion, So just finished photographing this guy this afternoon. This is an Earth Elemental, originally from a blister pack of three minis, this guy, the Earth Elementals Lord I painted a few days back and an interesting looking iguana-like Earth Familiar, which is on my docket next. This was sculpted by Jim Johnson and released somewhere in the nineties. Fun figure to paint, not a drop of metal, but all sorts of different earth tones. The only un-earthy tones are the crystals in his spine, which I painted blue. I wanted to originally paint them green to match the crystal in the Shaman's staff, but I didn't think there would be enough contrast between the grass/moss around the stones. The little iguana familiar will be next! Enjoy!

Good morning my Reapertonians! So recently I've been not only just doing individual figures, but also "sets", figured belonging or previously belonging to blister packs and today is no exception. I just finished painting a set of Ral Partha Town Guards, sculpted back in the 90's I think by Jim Johnson. As I go through a lot of my minis, it's impressive of what a large library of work Mr. Johnson has created. All this and I know virtually nothing about the guy. Anyhoos, being that these are town guards from the same town, I wanted them to all have a similar color schemes so all their shirts got purple amethyst to start out with and their pants are red. I did want to make sure they all got unique skin tones however, as not to make them too uniform and boring. After seeing these all close up with the merciless camera lens, I see tons of errors that were impossible to pick up with my naked and bespectacled eye, and even with my nerd goggles, I didn't really see certain issues. But alas, once I get to the point of ending, very small chance that I'll be going back to update. As of yet, I haven't put them on bases, but will probably do so in the near future so they don't fall over. The redhead with the spear is especially a little top-heavy. Derek had mentioned in a post about a previous lady giant that I needed to make sure I hit my metals with white. I always do so, but I'm hoping that these pictures can reflect it visually a little bit more. Tried not to be overly heavy-handed with white but at least make sure it got in there to be properly represented. And for the spearman's shield on his back, I really had no idea or inspiration of what to do, so I just painted on some white stripes. Not at all very exciting, but I couldn't invent anything that exciting. So there you have them, my last five little mini-babies, enjoy!

Hello to all the forumites of this fine page! So just finished this set a few days ago, the Ral Partha Water Lords, sculpted by Jim Johnson I'm thinking in the nineties, even though as per always, I forgot to look at the date stamp at the bottom before I put them on their base. I can really only directly show one of these minis, because the other two are ladies with their aquatic lady parts floundering all over, so here's the first one: and here is then a link to the female aquatic elf: Female aquatic elf from the Water Lords If you were interested in seeing other angles (this is the one I put on the Lost Mini Wiki), you could check out on my Instagram account Moonglumsminis And here is the Water Elemental in this set, a really cool piece in my opinion, but once again, full of even more mammal parts than the lady elf: Water Elemental Also on my Instagram page is the back angle of this wet and wonderful woman! So it was very fun painting these guys, and I got to use a lot of my sea color paints from Reaper, which just don't get enough use these days. For the elves, I wanted them to be kind of subdued colors, as if they were down in the deep blue sea, and then with the male elf's mount, I was kind of in a conundrum, do I also give him subdued colors, or do I do a more tropical color scheme to offset the pale elf colors? In the end, I opted for the brighter tropical colors to give hopefully a bit more visual interest. The whites I think as the highlights for the water come off "whiter" in the actual minis, wish that would translate a bit more in the photos, but I think they came out more or less decently. Around this same time, Ral Partha also did some other "elemental" blister packs, they did a fire one, an air one, and an earth blister pack. They were all sculpted by Jim Johnson, one of the few sculptors I can never seem to find anything out about. I'd previously painted a female djinn from the air set, but I think I'm going revisit them all to hopefully get them all done one of these days in the far-flung future. Continuing with the random minis for now: Cavalry. Bones Cavalry that is. Over the course of 4 delivered kickstarters of Bones models, Reaper has released a total of 9 mounted models. (11 if you count the flying saucer from the Bones 2 Chronoscope Expansion and the chopper bike mounted Sophie (the one and only Bones KS model delivered in metal!) in the first Bones kickstarter.) Well, "mounted" is also a theme to use to get something painted, isn't it? And with 9 or 11 models to go for, it should be possible to get done in a timely manner. Hello Reaper brethren, So some more Shadowrun tonight, a Female Rigger with Pistol, sculpted by Jim Johnson, that enigmatic sculptor of yore. I ended up really liking this figure, just general fun, and when I saw her shirt and coat, it reminded me a little bit of a Russian sailor, so tried some stripes on the t-shirt and some kind of dark blue peacoat. I was really struggling to figure out what color I wanted her boots to be and almost made them bright yellow, but then calmed down and went for a redstone shadow base color. I of course see all my imperfections and dots of dust but it seems that for the most part, once I've gotten to that part of taking pictures, unless I see something really gawdawful, I'm just not going to do any repainting or touching up. So here she is in all her lilac haired glory: I took a lot of different angles because she's one of those not so flat figures, where just a front and back seem to be enough. As always, metals are torture, but if you don't keep trying to paint something you'll never get better, so just paint and paint again. So, enjoy!

Hello again Reaperlings! So here is the other figure I finished this morning from their Shadowrun Range, a Jim Johnson Female Bounty Hunter with Machine Gun. With this gal, hard to decide on colors. Do I go strictly drab and military greens and browns or do I add some color into it? I opted for color: I'm hoping/guessing that she's got some kind of radio/cell phone/walkie talkie in her other hand, but hard to know for sure. I think Shadowrun probably had a bunch of different technologies, not at all familiar with the game, but really do like the figures. Once again, enjoy, hope you like!

This mini of my favorite evil mage type figures. I painted it a while back, and it has seen heavy use (gaming, displaying, a few moves, an a couple of stunt dives off a congested gaming table). I plan on touching up the chipped areas (see edge of scroll), but I would like to know how to make the paint more durable for future minis. The Callus figure was de-flashed, sanded, primed, painted, and then given a clear coat.

And another Shadowrun figure, the third figure from what was originally a three piece set of Elven subtypes. This dapper gentleman is a Wakyambi, which from what I read on line (haven't ever actually ever played Shadowrun or own any of the gaming books), he's an African Elf Subtype, tall and thin. He was fun to paint, but his dingly dangly stuff eventually just made me cry for mercy in the hopes I would someday finish. His necklace and his little staff had quite a bit of details to it, as well has his funky monkey belt buckle. and here is the set in its entirety, not completely great focus, but it's hard to get three figures to focus nicely: So three more finished, I wonder how many more I can get done before I go to the great beyond? Hopefully 50 or more per year for another thirty to forty years, but we'll see....

Hello to all you bovine aficionados! So a while back ago I did a normal minotaur, Greek-type mythological beast with an axe on two legs. This one is a little different, it's a Shadowrun Minotaur which has a bull's body and a "primate" face. I think Jim Johnson sculpted it back in the nineties, as usual forgot to check for a date on the bottom. Pretty straight forwards colors, and it's actually kind of a big and heavy model. Put him on an oval base because there was no way he was going to fit on a normal size circle one: Anyhoos, hope you guys all enjoy him!

Hello there fine followers of the fine Reaper faith and Happy Fourth of July for those in Gringolandia! So here is my Shadowrun Dryad, made by Ral Partha, probably sculpted by Jim Johnson in 1996 if you choose to believe the bottom of the base, and I do. I did her the same time I did the Night Elf I also just recently posted, but one of the eyes on this green haired chicky poo, I just couldn't get it like I wanted to, so I went back and redid the eye, and I still didn't like it, so this is the third version, which I'm also not super duper satisfied with, but there comes a point when I just give up to move to the next small piece of metal. So here she is: and here is a close up of her eyes. Her left one hs that spoke that I just didn't get closed properly. From really close it's very noticeable, but only kind of noticeable from afar and I really couldn't tell with the actual figure, only with the zoom of modern technology. I never had these issues back in the eighties. Anyway, I like some of these Shadowrun figures, because besides being just generally cool, they kind of cross two genres. This one and the other night elf, could easily be fantasy figures, nothing really would orient them to actual science fiction. So back to the painting table! Good morning everybody, so here's a figure that's actually been sitting on my paint desk for probably six months I'm guessing. I got his skin and his white beard done, but afterwards all the colors to add on afterwards were kind of stumping me, so I ended up just leaving him sitting there for months and months. For some reason though after getting back from a business trip two weeks ago, I took him up again and finished him pretty quickly. I think it was a combination of color choices and some tight spots to get paint to that were putting me off. Anyhoos, I got him figured out and finished. I gave him some pink shoes, just because I wanted to annoy the cosmic color wheel, but when I look at it, his shoes don't even actually bother me that much. So I'm not sure if I was able to accomplish anything in an attempt to violate the holy color wheel or not. He's a Hackmaster Battle Mage, probably from around 2003 or so, originally sold on the Hackmaster range and acquired a few years back from Iron Wind Metals/Ral Partha. Nice solid figure, pretty good side and despite my earlier trepidation, a pretty easy paint job to do. Fronts and back at slightly different angles, couldn't choose the best ones so threw both sets in. So anyhow, hope you enjoy!

Good evening everybody, just got finished with this little lady last night, a female cleric from the Hackmaster series, sculpted by Jim Johnson. Like usual, looking at everything so closely I can see so many glaring errors, but I give up, must enjoy what I've done and not complain. This little cleric lady looks kind of nun-like, but I didn't want to do her with blacks and whites so went for reds, oranges and yellows instead. Maybe she worships some kind of fire god, who knows? Anyway, fun figure to paint and has that characteristic Jim John face, angular and a good time to paint: My metals turned out I thought really blue, and upon reflection, the breastplate would have looks really cool were it to have been black, but maybe for my next female cleric, who knows? And just in case you're curious, she is wearing a shoe, but it ended up getting a little too hidden in the grass. So anyhoos, enjoy!

Good evening all! So here's my last Hackmaster endeavor, another Jim Johnson figure (really enjoying painting his sculpts), an Elf Magic User with a staff throwing a fireball. I think he was sculpted around 2003 like the previous female elf magic user, and the figure it all kinds of fun. As always I didn't know what colors to use. I ended up making him blonde, after deciding on lilac for my female mage, and then started painting him from the inside out. I grabbed his shirt as a bright yellow, pants orange, and then I started thinking more autumn colors so red inside of his cloak and the cloak itself an earth brown. Pretty straightforward figure, didn't have lots of dingly Dangley items going on. Hackmaster figures either have a lot going on or they are simply elegant. With them as well, they are larger figures, not the classic 25 mm from early Partha, but this is a line that they acquired not too long ago and in itself was sculpted in this century so a bit of size creep will have occurred. You can see the size difference in these and other figures Jim Johnson sculpted for the Partha brand. Did a green flame, now I've done a couple magical green flames instead of just normal fire color, and I'm still way too chicken to do OSL. Maybe someday. In the meantime, hope you enjoy him!

Hello all, here is another Hackmaster figure I completed a few nights ago, a Female elf mage, sculpted back in 2003 by Jim Johnson. This is the first time I can recall I've taken an elf and given her an "alternative" hair color, so I hope she looks okay. This was actually a pretty fun and straightforward figure to paint, not too many hanging, dingly-dangly extras going on. She's one of the many Hackmaster/Kenzer and Company figures that Iron Wind Metals acquired a while back. I'm really enjoying painting them up! Anyhoos, enjoy!

So back in October 2017, the night before my first trip to Reapercon, I happened to be on eBay.ca and randomly stumbled across a Ral Partha Shadowrun Feathered Serpent listed by a seller located in Canada. Being the more unusual all-metal variant, the vast majority of them being resin and Ralidium, it caught my interest. Especially being in Canada, because eBay's global shipping program really ramps up shipping costs so it killed my ability to buy from US sellers except at dire need. However, as I needed all of my hoarded money for ReaperCon and travel expenses, I couldn't buy it right then, so I added it to my watch list. Then I went to ReaperCon and forgot all about it. Shortly after I came back home, very exhausted, I fell asleep on my couch with the 1st Edition AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide on my face and woke up around 8 pm. For some reason I felt compelled to check my email, and there was an "item ending soon" notice. So, with 5 minutes to spare, I bought it. Now... my life is weird. Not really super weird, it's just that for some reason my reality operates on the premise of "why do something normal when you can add a weird subplot?" And so it is here, because I discovered that this all-metal beastie was made of lead. I had heard of all-metal Feathered Serpents, but always assumed they were later lead-free production on account of Partha's resin experiment going drastically awry and being unpopular with customers. I had never heard of a lead version, and if asked before getting one I would have guessed such a thing didn't exist. So I had a mystery! To solve this mystery, I needed information. So I started at the first logical place - Lost Minis Wiki, hoping maybe there was a clue to be had. Well, imagine my surprise when the Feathered Serpent there not only resembled mine... it actually WAS mine! Since this creature is presently recorded for posterity as the exemplar on what is currently one of the top resources for old miniatures, and as I am never one to turn away from a weird and convoluted tale, I decided that its long-overdue transition from box to beautiful should also be recorded for posterity. So here we are, and here we go!

So continuing on with my theme of black pants and clothing, and trying to stay in certain color schemes to make my life a tad more efficient, here is the other Monk/Martial Artist I finished basing last night. He has the same black pants more or less that the Brue Lee figure had, also nunchuks, and also ready to beat a wrongdoer into submission. This one is from the Hackmaster line that Ral Partha has brought back, sculpted in 2003 (I checked the bottom before I put him on his base) by Jim Johnson. Another fun and simple figure, not too many dingly danglies, just a man, his pants, a European shoulder bag, and a few weapons. I kind of wish his wrist bands had turned out a little bit better metalwise, but oh well, he's done and I'm not going back, too many things pending...

Hi guys! So I've had a bit of time this week to do quite a bit of painting, so here is one of three figures I've finished recently. It's another one of the Hackmaster figures recently acquired by Partha, a Cleric sculpted by Jim Johnson back in 2003. As always, hardest thing to figure out was the color scheme, but I think it kind of worked out reasonably well. Chain mail is kind of a pain it seems, because as many times I gave them a coat and a wash, I can still see some little wholes. Oh well, must just accept it!

The second figure I painted this week, got quite a lot done. This is one of the Silver and Steel figures from the boxed sets based on Larry Elmore art. Once again, figuring out colors was a pain, especially it took forever for me to figure out what color I was going to paint the little dragon, and in the end, he just turns out to be green. Pale skin, dark hair, hopefully it was a good combination!

Good evening all, so just finished this one, another really fun and adventurous Dwarf sculpted by Jim Johnson back in 2002-2003. Another piece from the Hackmaster line from Kenzer and Company, but was acquired by Ral Partha and now being cast by them. Hopefully dwarfy enough colors, started out with his skin as tanned highlights and gave him some nice black hair. I thought about doing something with the runes on his axe but then just figured I'd leave them as metal. Enjoy!
