This is Narthrax from Reaper’s Bones series. Hate is a pretty strong word so I’ll just settle with saying that I strongly dislike huge+ miniatures. They take forever to finish and use up much more paint than I think. They are unwieldy forcing me to awkwardly hold them in my apparently acidic fingers, stripping the paint on tiny strategic areas. All and all Narthrax has been a pain to paint. I hit quite a few walls and restarted I think three or four times.I shudder to think how I’m going to finish Cthulhu, Khanjira, Kaladrax and all the others. One at a time I guess… But enough of the cons, now for the pros! * Eventhough Narthrax didn’t end up as I planned it in my head, I’m still pleased with the end result. I think the color scheme works. * I’m really happy with how the teeth and the eyes ended up * My first finished dragon! As for the mouth, I tried to shamelessly steal trodax brilliant paintjob (seen here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php/topic/69676-narthrax/)but with cold instead of fire. It didn’t quite work since I’m not up to the task of blending but it still looks kind of nice :)

The Mocking Beast from Reaper Bones. A really, really cool sculpt!

This is one of the last figures from my year-end Conga Line of finishing up half-done minis, Reaper's 60079: Lyrie Akenja, a Pathfinder miniature sculpted by Julie Guthrie. She's a special figure to me. Lyrie Akenja is the first figure I bought after a twenty-year hiatus from minis. I spotted her somewhere, thought "Wow, an African wizard! Things sure have changed," and bought her, along with a few other minis. I then proceeded to give her the worst paint job I had ever given a mini in my life. I hadn't realized that I needed glasses nowadays, and I was too nervous to focus properly. So after some angst, I soaked her paint off and started again. And set her aside for a couple of years while I developed a new skill set. And then picked her up again to finish with the Conga Line. I like her little pushing the hood up with the wand gesture.

This is the Ghost from Reaper's Bones miniatures line. I got started on it last year with a few quick runovers with green ink. Since then it has been collecting dust on the shelf but I figured I might as well finish it. So I did some highlighting on the face and hands and painted the headstone.

Another quick paint job. Started in March, touched up and finished off (badly) sometime in April or May.

I've spent quite a bit of time trying to get the skin tone right for this miniature. My goal was to find a color that was found in the very worst storms. I also changed the color of the skirt a few times - including white and purple. I think ochre is the one I like the most. Next I need to work on the eyes (my bane!) and my basing (which I also hate doing!). I'd welcome any feedback on the piece. Thanks, Nick PS. I love this snakeman from the Pathfinder line. After I had picked the major colors and done the base coats, I realized I had picked the 3 most difficult colors, black, red and yellow (kinda). Doh!

This little guy is another of my favorite sculpts. I don't know what I find so interesting and funny about him, but I've been wanting to paint him for a while. Last night, a person from another crafting forum I am a member of, sponsored a painting night online. We grabbed out webcams, and logged in, and basically chatted about all things painting, gaming, and random other stuff. I chose to paint this little guy during that time. Overall, I am really pleased with how he came out. The picture blends the rusty bronze colored metal in with the wood, but in person it can actually be seen. I used a gloss varnish on the inside of the mouth, around the gums and sporadically on the teeth to give a wet feel to those bits. The base, though a simple cobblestone tile, I sculpted myself with greenstuff and actual tools this time. I hope you enjoy him as much as I enjoyed painting him. I was at Adepticon in the Chicago area earlier this month. I took pictures. The whole album (except for Crystal Brush entry photos) is here, and here are some to look at: The legendary Julie Guthrie and Bob Ridolfi! The Reaper Paint 'N' Take: I took one picture of my work.I brought "Black Moon's Bane", the spelljammer, and a group of my painted minis. I also took Crystal Brush photos in a separate file. Photobucket is being a little wonky, but if I can get them straightened out I will post them by tomorrow. There were so many beautifully painted minis!

Walked into an FLGS and am currently standing in front of this: I don't know what to do: they've got a bunch of the old ChaosWars dragons too. Prices seem to range between 35-45 Canadian. Is that what these are typically going for? Edit. O geese They've got the old Julie Guthrie dueling Dragons set by Chaoswars too.

My first finished piece with some minor OSL, made as a gift for a very dear friend of mine. The head of this otherwise beautiful bones miniature had some casting flaws, so I swapped her head with a cast copy of a Kingdom Death Sunstalker dancer Pin-up miniature. Any critique is very much appreciated, since I just want to learn and keep getting better with miniature painting.

Finished this up at *mumblety* o'clock last night this morning. It's my first attempt at OSL, so I definitely welcome feedback. I'm overall pretty satisfied, but I think the cast light on the torso is too harsh. I got a bit carried away, which makes me sad on account of it more or less obliterated the work I did on the body. I spent some time researching what human decay actually looks like because I wanted her to look corpse-y rather than ghost-y, and I was quite proud of how the flesh came out--realistic but not too off-putting. I wish I'd taken pictures of that. :/ Anyway, I wanted to take a "death positive"/memento mori approach with this piece; more of a "guide for the dead" than a threatening presence, hence the softer palate and the lush landscaping on the base. Ultimately I'm hoping she'll go well with Tombstone of Protection (03738) and Tombstone of Sorrow (03737) as a nice little vignette.

Here is what is on my table at the moment. He is going to be the general for one of two factions my PCs are having to deal with. He leads an army of aberrations that they will have to deal with. He's been blast to paint so for, and torturous as well. I have a hard time with eyes, so this has been a huge challenge so far. I need to clean up the smaller eyes, and bring out some of the highlights on body, the teeth, as well as finish the base. CAH

This is Ralshana, a Dragonborn Paladin serving the ideal of justice. This was done for a friend of mine to represent her character in our D&D 5th game. In truth, Ralshana uses a greatsword, but I couldn't find a halfdragon with one. Other than that, I think I captured the nature of the character. I am really pleased with how she came out, though my picture taking skills are somewhat lacking. I took great pains to highlight the scales of her body, as well as the scales on her armor. Some of that gets lost in the picture. I'm still learning about light diffusion and such. I hope you like her! And as always, CC are always welcome. Ralshana (front): Ralshana (back): There was a crack in the sculpt that I noticed, after I had primed and based her. Not sure how I missed it. I was out of greenstuff, so I just kind of went with it. Looks like I forgot to post this little beauty from the year-end Conga Line of Doom. This is Julie Guthrie's Valloa, Elf Thief, SKU 03566 from Reaper. Something happened to my original set of photos. These were taken after she was varnished and she is a little satin-finished, making it a little harder to see the painted shiny leather effects. I really like this figure.

This is one of the first minis I bought after coming back to the hobby after a twenty-year hiatus. I started her, then stalled for a long time, then finished her off as part of my year-end Conga Line. She's a nice figure.

This is another figure from my Conga Line. She was one of my earliest purchases after coming back to the hobby, but it took me a while to finish her. I love all the pretty little details Julie Guthrie sculpted onto her. I enjoyed playing with fabric transparency in an entirely family-friendly way. ETA: Oh hey, I just noticed she's the first Pathfinder figure I've painted.

I stumbled across this tonight. But apparently it was released last week. Am I the only one who hadn't seen this yet? First of a new series of seasonal spirits. Looks like it was released at the same time as the Ranger "Flat", which I have seen talked about on the forums.

Here's a fun Bones figure by Julie Guthrie. She is covered with sea life: kelp, barnacles, a small octopus on her left elbow, a starfish on her left calf at the back, and a little crab on her right forearm at the back. She has great lines as a piece of sculpture. WIP threads here and here.

These 2 had not been photographed together before even if they are from the same set. The two were not painted at the same time, and I don't think I realized they even were a set at the time, since the colors and bases are different. I remember being very happy with the horse and the blue horse shroud thing when I painted it 20+ years ago. Grenadier 709 - Mounted Knight with Yeoman

This figure was sculpted for Grenadier in 1991 by Julie Guthrie. If I remember correctly, he's a thief, but I think he'd also work well as a pirate, although he's based in a rather non-nautical fashion. I tried something different when I did his skin, how do you think it looks? He's done to table top level; C&C is welcome.

Here is my attempt to paint up Mr Bones from KS1 in a similar color to the artwork. Basing is rather simple. I thought I would have him walking a path like he did in the KS. My Dullcote must be almost gone as there still appears to be a shine that kills the shadows, especially on the back. Well time for a shopping trip to pick up some more. If I feel the need I'll hit is with another coat of a new can and retake photos. Thanks for looking. As always C&C are welcome.

Shaggy: "Like NO Way man, I'm not going through no spooky graveyard to some old creepy castle, uh Uh." Scooby: "Mree rethier! I did my best to stay true to the character's colors for identification.

This is Julie Guthrie's sea hag, part of the core set of the Reaper Bones II Kickstarter. To begin with, I cleaned up the flash some, scrubbed her with soap and warm water, and primed her with Reaper's Brown Liner. When that had dried nicely I painted up her flesh with a pale sky blue and layered first a brick red color, then a pale yellow on her base for sand color.
