  1. So as everybody knows, in 2017 I attended my first ReaperCon ever. There I got to meet many wonderful people in real life, and I have to say it was probably the finest group of human beings I've ever spent time with. We picked a table at random, and so wound up with some random people sharing our table as people came to the con. @pcktlnt was one of them, and even though everybody here already knows he's pretty great I want to tell you that face-to-face he's even better. Pcktlnt is a genuine top-tier human being, even among such a great crowd of people. Before ReaperCon, being a
  2. This is 03415, Lanura Windsong, Elf Sorcerer, sculpted by Julie Guthrie. She's an appealing sculpt -- and popular, judging from all the painted versions in the store and the Inspiration Gallery. I picked her up years ago after seeing someone's lovely version on these forums, and now I've gotten round to her. She has high boots and a long coat and a cute scarf over short tousled curls. I think of her as a sort of corsair or pirate, maybe, with lots of wands and things. I am looking forward to painting all those spheres on her like colored crystal. I have been
  3. When I first got the Naga from the Bones kickstarter I wasn't that excited. It looked ok at a glance but I didn't think I needed a naga at the time. Eventually I thought I try to extend my scenery collection and try to paint it as a statue. When I did and looked a bit closer at the mini I realized that it's a really cool sculpt! I still choose to go the statue route but I might just have to buy a new one and make a real one. I was also pleasantly surprised on how some superglue + the foam from the blister pack that some miniatures come with + Army Painter greenskin created some decent looking
  4. Reaper Bones 77407: Death Dog from the third Bones kickstarter. Currently available from the reaperminis.com webstore. Sculpted by Julie Guthrie. I made a bespoke 3Dprinted 45x30mm base for it. I went for a black dog with red demonic eyes for this.
  5. Picked up this little guy bc he caught my eye, and it was no surprise it was Julie Guthrie’s handiwork. She’s my favorite sculptor, so I took more time then was necessary out of respect. Working here on directional lighting and shadow. Light source supposed to be from left. Always welcome criticism. Have a great day and thanks for looking.
  6. Here's my 2018 Ghoulie Bag translucent smoky grey 77636, Death Shroud. I simply did a blueish highlight and painted the base on this Dark Heaven Bones model sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
  7. Hi everyone, here's a simple paint job on a translucent version of 77096, Labella DeMornay. This model was sculpted by Julie Guthrie. I painted it with green ink and acrylics.
  8. All of a sudden, two bear-sized rodents covered in open sores and overripe pustules emerges from the debris piled up in the corner of the oubliette. They rush towards you their open maws showing six-inch incisors. Here are the 77198, Barrow Rats, Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
  9. Here comes the boggy 77521, Gravewailer, Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Julie Guthrie. This ghostly aberration is also known as a Gibbering Mouther or Babélien. I painted it with acrylics, ink and sealed it with gloss brush-on sealer.

  11. Hello guys and gals, here's a new figure I just finished, a Ral Partha figure from the eighties, a female warrior, kind of a bit barbaric, with axe and shield. As Always, deciding just simple things like colors were kind of more time consuming than they should have been. I did her hair black because I'd seen the same model very nicely painted and done blonde and didn't want to copy. This was sculpted by the great Julie Guthrie, sculpting goddess. Also had no idea what color the shield should have been so eventually and randomly chose green! Anyhoos, enjoy!
  12. “Off to off the wizard” The figures are from Reaper Bones KS3, “Chronoscope Wild West Oz”. Since they all were armed, I see this as a sort of hit squad, hence the title. I based them on 30mm round display bases from Reaper, and I 3d Printed a 20mm round in a similar style for Toto. Since not only the Tin Man, but also the flying monkey are obvious metal robots, I think “Weird West Oz” or even “Steampunk Oz” would be a more fitting moniker. The miniatures are made in the slightly harder Bonesium, henceforth to be known as Better Bones™. Since the third Bones kickstar
  13. We all knew this day would come eventually. The day where OneBoot tosses the very few marbles she has left into the ocean and throws herself in after them. The blank 4th spot in my lovely Goblin Challenge signature badge has been glaring at me for several months now, and my personal circumstances have now aligned to allow me to attempt this, my final Challenge. For those of you unfamiliar with Goblin Painting Challenges, started by our very own @buglips*the*goblin, here is a link to his Kaladrax thread that started it all: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/51269-kaladrax
  14. Managed to completely paint this happy little guy up in short order: Threw the base together last night to cure, but the actual painting time on this one was only a couple hours. I assumed that he’s meant to be floating on magical wisps of etherealness, but lack ethereal-colored paint. However, I have fire and lava colors, so I made it flames. C&C welcome, as always.
  15. 77041: Harpy by Julie Guthrie This one was on my shelf of shame for quite a while, until my daughter told me off for having it lying around. So I sculpted a shirt for her out of greenstuff which was a fun learning process. I needed her for my D&D game last week, so she got the speed paint finish. Her skin is the dusky flesh triad with some light grey added.
  16. This is it! I'm done painting the Bonesylvanians collection. That's twelve Bonesylvanians from 2014 and sixteen from 2015, all in pewter. I want to thank everyone who commented and give feedback along the way. It was a lot of fun moments and there is still a lot more to come. Here are the links to the individual 2015 Bonesylvanians; 01546, Tut the Pharaoh 01547, Cal the Skeleton 01555, Boris the Frankenstein 01556, Elsa the Bride of Frankenstein 01564, Max the Nosferatu 01565, Barb the Zombie Cheerleader 01566, Jacques the Fly 01567, Mar
  17. Overall pretty happy with how he turned out. Would love any feedback for improvement...
  18. The third and final mini from the Layer Up! LTPK, Julie Guthrie’s Hajad the Pirate: Not gonna try for any better images, because then you would see how badly I messed up the eyes... Mostly by the book, but I skipped the lining as my little brush was becoming temperamental. Of the three minis in this kit, this is the one I was most looking forward to, as it has the most exposed skin of the three (one of my problem areas). Think I oversold the abs a bit too much though. Based on issues with the previous minis, I elected to basecoat both weapon blades with
  19. Here's 01572, Maddie the Chibi Gorgon (Medusa), Special Edition Bonesylvanian Figure sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
  20. Wanted to try something different, so here is another oldie, Cleo the Weretigress, done up as a tiger lady: Front Back Another view Could have gone a few ways with this mini. There are parts of the sculpt which are clearly feline (face, tail, extremities) but most of the rest seems intended to be human form. This presented a dilemma, as I was unsure painting tiger all over skin-sculpted areas would produce the proper effect. On the other hand, painting those areas in skin tones would preclude the inclusion of tiger stripes. And I really wanted to p
  21. 01569, Howie the Chibi Sea Monster, Special Edition Bonesylvanian Figure sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
  22. Sometimes you have to force your way through the rough patches. Fortunately, I recently found Valloa here at my FLGS. Given that she’s been on my “want” list for a while and their selection of metal minis was sparse at best, I snapped one up to dispel the painting melancholy. Apologies in advance for the bad images, lighting didn’t want to comply, and the closest to true color I could get has bad shine from camera flash + sealer. Here she is: I didn’t originally have plans to paint this one as a drow. But, I wanted a chance to try out the dark elf skin triad and didn’t
  23. 03660: Amrielle, Female Ranger Julie Guthrie This one has been on the shelf of shame for a couple of years. I had some severe problems with textures which is why she ended up on my shelf of shame. First mistake was I didn't sand smooth the various flat surfaces before priming. Then I primed using spray on aerosol primer when the weather wasn't right, creating a very rough, beaded surface texture (check out the top of her bow). Then when I was painting her, I was using glazing medium to try to improve my blending. I didn't wait long enough between coats of paint. Consequently,
  24. 60074: Serpentfolk Warrior Julie Guthrie This one was on my shelf of shame but not for too long. Only 35 projects left on my shelf of shame!
  25. The visage of Tiamat looms over the ancient and ruined temple of her rival Bahamut! After 6 months and about 400 hours of work, she is complete! Wow, didn't think it would take me that long. And a few more detail pics.
