Bonny Ann Pirate Queen Bust By Glitterwolf
Glitterwolf posted a topic in Works in Progress: Painting
A while ago I had a poll to vote which bust I would paint next. This was the winner. So we better get started ( ok I'm also painting my Brutus Bust but she was first) She has many options, ( with or without hat, with or without a parrot, and with a shirt or topless) I'm going for full options. Trying to make the shirt somewhat sheer. OMG...I never done that! Wish me luck!- 116 replies

It was requested that I begin a Work In Progress thread for this piece. I don’t normally do WIP threads, so if anyone is looking for more detail, let me know. This model represents a bunch of firsts for me. This is my first bust, first resin, first model airbrushed, and first attempt at zenithal priming. The model comes in 5 pieces: The base, neck, and back of the head are the bulk, followed by the face/muzzle, and left/right horns. The Queen makes the fifth piece. Assembly was fairly easy and straightforward. Each piece received a good wash in soapy water. When dry, I super-glued things together, but there were a couple gaps that needed to be taken care of. I didn’t take any pictures at this stage. The gap was where the face met the horns on each side. After the putty cured, I broke out the airbrush and gave it a coat of Vallejo Black surface primer, followed by a zenithal coat of Vallejo White. For the Queen, she has been mounted on a straight pin and cork. The model came with a hole pre-drilled in both Queen, and the dragon horn on which she sits. At this stage she has received the same zenithal primer coat, a single coat of MSP Tanned Shadow, and the eyes have been started. Just need to shape them back into looking like eyes. Comments and critiques welcome.

This is another of my ReaperCon Painters entries. It is the Hunter from Kabuki Models and one that I decided to use to practice painting red. I originally was not going to do blood effects but since she is carrying heads in the bag, I thought to give it a go. I went a little crazy with the blood, it started with some on the heads and axe but then I thought she surely would have gotten some on her. Well it may be excessive but I kind of like it and it inspired the name "Reason for Red".

Alright, with two months to go until ReaperCon, I need to get cracking on my entries. I currently have two maybe four entries for Painters, one for Open, and two for Diorama. My definite Painters entries are: Reaper 14131: Elsabeth, Necropolis Captain in purples and blues prancing through a graveyard. Dark Sword DSM7442 Wood Elf Gooddess-Avatar Form in green among forest ruins (started in my previous WIP) My maybe Painters entries are: Kabuki's The Hunter in black and red on a simple base Reaper 03730: Jahenna, Female Vampire, back and white study. This is a commission for a friend and I may bring it with me if I finish in time My Open entry is: Hasslefree HFX004 Gen. I will need to link her actual pictures as she is nude. I am going to be converting her into a blue fairy. I have removed her horns and will be adding fairy wings. My Diorama entries are: "The Toad Bridge" which will feature some of Dark Sword Anthropomorphics facing off against each other. "The Hunt" featuring two Mouslings and a spider, but who is the hunter and who is the prey? I have ambitious plans but unlike last year, I am not going to force myself to finish everything. I will work on what I feel like working on and if I get it done, it goes. I won't stress about trying to get everything done as I have a few finished pieces already that I can easily bring. So now onto the pictures. First up is a group shot of all the models except for Gen, followed by a group shot of their bases. I have the bases on my Tablewar tray to make sure everthing fits. I did have to rethink the base for "The Toad Bridge" as the original took up half of the tray.

Well it has been three weeks since I last picked up a brush though I did work on some bases, so I figured it was time to start a new WIP. This will be covering more than a few miniatures that want to get done this summer, preferably before I go on vacation in August. First up is Onufry the Ribald, a 54mm from Scibor. This guy is just for fun and I probably will enter him in a competition. I debated between doing a display base or using the one he came with. In the end I made one with some bark, a slate piece, a resin scenery dwarf head, and a resin tree trunk. I am really happy with it. Next we have one of my planned entries for ReaperCon, Dark Sword's Wood Elf Goddess that was their freebie at last year's RCon. I am hoping to paint each year's DS mini up for the following year. She is going to be based among ruins of building in the forest which is right now just the walls on some cork. There will be a tree in the corner and lots of greenery. Basically the forest reclaiming the area. Then I hope to finish my Zayna from Ares Mythologic's Draconia line. She was started last year but kept getting pushed aside. She is also destined for RCon. Another fun one I hope to work on is Reaper's Blightfang which I am doing as a purple/blue dragon. I have just started the base which will be a forest pond. Lastly we have Kabuki's The Hunter. Not much planned for her yet except I plan on keeping it simple. Her legs are so thin I did not want risk removing the base piece that she is on so I evened out part of a Secret Weapon base and now she will be standing on a rook in the swamp. I know not much has been done yet but any input would be appreciated.

Wanting to paint a bust for a long time, never had the nerve. In order to participate in the 54mm Challenge I decided to do a bust too. Kabuki Miniatures: 1/6 scale KY-RA ( a NOT Red Sonja). I will link the nude shots, since one of her breasts peeks through the armor. I have cut up an old plaster base for her.
