  1. Long time lurker, second time poster, first time upload. Here is the Frost Giant Queen from the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter for your consideration. I was unable to participate in the Bones 3 Kickstarter as I came upon these Bones figures late in the game. However, the participants who were able placed their unwanted miniatures up on eBay, so I took advantage of opportunity when presented. I focused on Color Theory and Texture on this piece as she provided a very large palette to paint upon. These Giants provided me practice in sketching too, which makes the entire line appealing to me. Side note: Gratitude to those who did place these minis up on eBay without jacking up the prices. I was able to purchase the both Frost Giant Royalty around cost of what Reaper will sell them at Retail. This certainly displays an ethos in the Reaper community that makes this community stand out among others. Further, having lurked for awhile: the community here is quite kind and helpful. This is a good community of miniature painters. I like the Bones miniature range. The detail on this miniature was very close to what I expect from the metal range, and I will purchase more of the Bones range in the future. I am looking forward to the resculpt of Vanya, the Fire Giant Princess, and her new size to match the Fire Giants in D&D. The attire of this miniature is akin to the Viking attire of old, and I found my SCA ventures to assist me in painting this Viking Apron and embellishments. The sculptor did an outstanding job and I look forward to more of their work. The FAQs were an asset that made my first foray into Bones an easier one. I had difficulty with flash lines until I picked up some diamond files, which handled them quite well without marring detail like my serrated files. The bent pieces were fixed with some boiling water and cold water quite easily. The pieces fit together like a glove, though I admit I still pinned them. (My OCD was tingling.) I did use Krylon as Primer, and the tackiness disappeared after the first coat of paint. She was sealed only with Krylon Dull Cote and exhibits no tackiness. She has been handled and there is no rubbing off of paint. I like how her base was round, though I am ignorant of what would be an appropriate Reaper base to place this inside of. (I currently have the King on a GW Dreadnought base, and I do not like it. If anyone reads this and has a recommendation, I surely would appreciate it.) This Bones line of miniatures has proven to me to be a Good Idea and one I will support. I am already purchasing more of the Bones 2 line for my D&D and Oldhammer alternatives, and I admit excitement at the new of Bones 4. Based on the quality of these miniatures: you will have an additional participant. Please keep up the outstanding quality and amazing work. I hope you enjoy my efforts. C&C is always appreciated: it is the only way an Artist can improve. May your blends be smooth. Peace and blessings.
  2. So question about two of the figures from the Pretty Deadly group from the Bones III core set. #256 on core set picture (part number 77488) Skara, Female Skoli #258 on core set picture (part number 77490) Mara Frostblade, Antipaladin So on the core set picture, Skara seems to be holding a halberd(?) pointing down and her sword sheathed, but the mini I have, she is holding the halberd up and her sword in her opposite hand. and on Mara, the shield is the same more or less, but she has just a regular/short sword, not the bigger (possibly falchion?) weapon as in the picture. Did these two figures have a last minute change after the conceptual artwork was done? *****my crazy internet:( can a moderator please delete this duplicate post***** Sorry. Nothing to see here:)

    Dionysus Crocodile Games

Hi all, just finished this one last night, hope you enjoy! Another really nice figure from Chris Fitzpatrick and his company Crocodile Games. This was from their most recent Kickstarter if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for looking!
  6. Bones 3 had a bit of an unfortunate arrival time for me, coming in the middle of an unplanned move. It may have taken me a bit, but I'm finally getting started on some of the pieces! I even took them with me for some down time on our yearly beach vacation, though my set-up here is not very scenic: That was last week, and now they're a bit closer to completion, with some details and fixes, basing, and sealing to be done. Some Bones 3 furniture snuck in as well:

    Snail Cavalry -Wasterman

Whilst waiting for my Bones 3 to brave the perilous journey across the sea to the EU I have decided to paint up other models from other kick staters. Not only to play with but to try and make some inroads into the "pile" of 20 models. Here are three such models from a recent Kickstarter by Thunderchild Miniatures. These snails inhabited an underground world under what's left of a post apocalyptic modern world. I like these models as the are very quirky and have some character. Hopefully I can do them justice. First of all they have been washed, sprayed grey and then I have given the metal areas a thinned coat of black. The biggest of the three, the snail is a single casting. There is a separate throne to this model. as always comment welcome.

    Dice Tray

Just launched a Kickstarter this morning for something called SnapDice. In my opinion -- and I guess I might be biased :) -- I think these are coolest dice trays ever. The steel dice snapping to the magnets is so addicting. You can use these with any game that uses dice (d6 or polyhedral), but honestly, you'll probably just get stuck rolling them over and over for fun. :) Here is the Kickstarter page: Check out people's reactions when they first rolled the dice just a little ways down the project page...pretty fun. :) The magnets in the board do not affect the randomness of the rolls. It isn't rigged. In fact, we custom engineered the dice to be perfectly balanced (the center of gravity of each die is within .001mm of perfect). So, this dice set will actually be the most accurate and more fair of any set you own. We are also offering a full polyhedral set of steel dice as well. :) Hope you like it!

  10. LINK In 1980 (ish) I got my hands on the original D&D game and played with my friends. Over the years, I fell in love with all of the books, especially the Fiend Folio. That COVER! Emmanuel's painting of the Githyanki! Man it is awesome. Then, In high school, I used to charge a whopping 50 bucks to hand-paint denim jacket back-panels for all of the metalheads and rockers. My favorite ones to paint, of course, were Iron Maiden's album covers. Derek Riggs' amazing paintings of Eddie blew my high school kid mind. One day while painting a version of KILLERS by Iron Maiden, it struck me how similar it was to the old FIEND FOLIO cover. I thought that one day it would be fun to draw up a mix of the two. The original painting was done on a denim jacket, which sold at an art show, just like the old days. Since then, lots of folks have asked me to put the design onto T-Shirts, so I figured this would be a good way to get them out there! Boom. SHIRT DETAILS Shirt Brand and Material: This is an American Apparel T-shirt. It is black, 100 percent cotton on the sleeves and back, and soft poly on the front panel, The result is a vintage feel, super soft, medium-light weight shirt that feels great and shows bright colors. It is a slim fit, 4.4 oz., side-seamed t-shirt. Sizes: The shirts are available in the standard "unisex" American Apparel sizes of Small through XXL. Printing Method: These shirts are printed using a Dye-Sublimation process. It is an amazing process that gives photographic results while keeping the fabric incredibly soft. You have probably seen this printing method used on mousepads and game-mats. I did not want such a huge print to make the shirt feel like a plastic suit of armor, so silkscreening was not considered. The shirt printer has warned me that there may be small, white spots near the very edges of the art, in the underarms or edges. However, the sample that I ordered is perfect except when really stretched out, as you can see in the photos below. TWO WEEK PROJECT Spread the word! If you know anyone that would be psyched for the shirt, pass along the link. The project is just a short, two week window. ORDERING DETAILS Backerkit: As with my past projects, I will be using Backerkit as a checkout system. This is a very flexible system that allows backers to order exactly what they want and lets us communicate after the project ends. Ordering more than one? Multiple people have asked me how to buy more than one. This option will be available as an "add on" upon checkout within the backerkit that you receive as a backer. Shipping Costs: We are using USPS priority shipping. Returns: These shirts will be custom printed-to-order. This means that I am not creating large quantities and selling from that stock. I will be making only the shirts that have been ordered and therefore will not be able to accept returns. Thank you for understanding. *Please note that this project is not affiliated with Iron Maiden, TSR, Hasbro or Wizards of the Coast.

    Pedion modular city titles

This is ending in 50 hours... Haven't seen it posted. There's a thread from 2015 for other tiles. I'm intrigued by the digital option.
  12. Up next is a hideous horde of Hobgoblins, from Ganesha Games "Song of Blades and Heroes: Hammer & Forge" line. There would be a Hobgoblin Mistcaller accompanying them, but the dogs decided to hide him instead... The horde, with Sir Forscale as a guest/hostage: The Khan: An ambidextrous heroine: Some archers: The rest of the grunts: I can say these are the first miniatures in a while I've painted for a specific game night. I finished them about an hour before my players arrived...and of course they explored all the areas of Grudd Haug EXCEPT those manned by the Hobgoblins.
  13. So I have been working on this guy since the middle of April, and finished his base and final assembly tonight, So I give you The Hobgoblin Cheiftain & Death Chicken! I am taking many pictures to try and find flaws, as well as to solicit opinions as to the best way / angle / composition because Infamy miniatures is holding a painting contest for this figure, and I can only send them 6 pics. (PS if you have this mini, just entering the contest will net you a store voucher of 10 GBP! Entries by 30 June) I will likely post more pics when I get a better idea of what to do.... Thanks for looking, and critiquing! Special Thanks to those that followed along in the WiP, as well as the Hangouts for all the encouragement and suggestions! George

    77195 Mr Bones

I'm thinking of collecting up all of the family and maybe doing a diorama.
  15. Here's another group fresh off the paint table, a grouping of naughty nasty Dwarfs from Ganesha Games "Advanced Song of Blades & Heroes: Axe and Brimstone" Kickstarter. I've painted them in gray skin tones, that way they can double up as Duergar, or be used as Warhammer Chaos Dwarves who are a bit far into the Curse of Stone. The whole horde: A Screaming Face Axeman: His buddy, the Glaiveman: A converted Champion, using the Possessed Champion body, Chaos Marauder Shield, a Marauder Horseman head, an axe off a Chaos Cultist Champion, and a sculpted cloak to cover up a gap, and also it was the same week PETA protested Warhammer. The Hellfire Caster: The Hellchain: The Demonslayer. This guy is actually supposed to be one of the good Dwarves aligned with the Halfling Villagers of the set, but with his demonskull hat, he seems to work as a worshiper as well. The Priestess on Hell-Disk: The Fusilier, dong his best Jawa impersonation:
  16. Dwarves At Arms is the latest Kickstarter By Macrocosom Miniatures for a range of Crusader and Norman Dwarves sculpted by Alessio Cisbani in 28mm and cast in white metal. It is a 30 day campaign, its has been funded and is working its way to the first stretch goal. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2076383099/dwarves-at-arms/description
  17. I skipped a few steps, but I actually remembered to take a WiP shot of my set from the "Song of Blades and Heroes: Axe and Brimstone" Kickstarter. There's also a few Hobgoblins who I started in hopes it would motivate the delayed KS package to arrive quicker (it worked!)
  18. The intent of this thread is to work through painting the Myth minis at a tabletop level in order to make the game experience even better. I chose to start with the crawlers since the melee and ranged are hard to tell apart. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Fireteam Zero paints

A number of years ago I backed the Fireteam Zero Kickstarter for the big box of Minatures. Needless to say it has been quite a few years for this to turn up, and at one point I was not expecting any models to be delivered. (Funded April 1st 2014) Overall I am happy with the sculpts and quality of the models. Plenty can be used in a range of Wargames. I started with a simple collection and with both my two sons (4.5 and 6 years old) gave the following a coat of paint. The youngest helped with some of the base coats whilst the older did some of the basic highlighting. First up is four fire bone tokens (?) these were painted as two spawn locations for a game I have in mind for the boys to play at some point. Next up is a selection of insect creatures I plan to use these as Kaiju in Horizon Wars or CAV games as they look good at that scale. Here is a ghost of some kind, the plan is to use him as a monster in Frostgrave And finally one of the best models I have painted so far from this Kickstarter is a Purple Worm. Once again there are plenty of games that can use this model. Comments or feedback welcome. These models will be added to my children's set of Bones monsters for regular use, as they have helped paint them.
  20. Another recently finished project, some Halfling Wizards from Midlam Miniature's Kickstarter. The full school: The Headmistress: The Archmage (with an attempted theme at a mushroom themed outfit) The Scrollbearer: The Junior Alchemist: The Junior Druid:

    Kingdom Death Manhunter

Since this weekend will see the end of the campaign, I figured I'd post up another Kingdom Death mini. This time, it is the Manhunter- one of the monsters from the game. This is the plastic version, and I created the base mostly from scratch, with one GW bit thrown in there. I'll be making a chibi of him someday...
  22. So, I have flocking, sealing, and glossing left to do, but it looks like I've made a dent in all my end of the year Kickstarter arrivals, expected or not: This includes: Frostgrave: Forgotten Pacts, Oathsworn: Heroines in Sensible Shoes, RPE: Dwarf Veterans, Midlam: Wizard Apprentices, TAG: Halflings, and some other odds and ends I've just opened a package from Midlam of Halfling Wizards and Apprentices, so I better wrap these up soon...I think there's also some more Halflings and Chaos Dwarves due soon from Ganesha Games. I may have a problem...
  23. The earliest arrival of my Kickstarter bounty, we have an adventuring group of ladies in sensible shoes (and clothing), and some of their companions and rivals. They may see Frostgrave, they may see Faerun, they may just see a shelf, who knows? The party: The Half-Orc Cleric. I had suggested during the campaign she would also make a suitable Bounty Hunter holding up a wanted poster...I went that route. I regret not trying to draw Flynn Rider, but I never get his nose right. The Barbarian Queen: Tiefling Warlock: Witch or washerwoman Monk: Paladin: Noblewoman: Brigand. He must be after the shoes. Dwarf Queen: Thief
  24. Fresh from the Kickstarter forges, here's another set: The Wizard Apprentices from Midlam Miniatures. First, the graduating class of 2016 (if they all make it): The ever-cautious Explodio: The scholarly Bookwrym: The Terrific Toadini! I've also been told he resembles some Presto character from an unknown 80s cartoon show. The studious Scrollux: My favorite of the set, the hexing Hattrix! I decided to go with more of a Fantasia theme rather than my original idea of "Simon the Sorcerer" The screwy Sanloss!
