  4. I took my daughter Alsnia and a friend of hers to the CT Ren Faire today for her birthday, and while we were there, she looked up something from the past that originated herein Random... 5. So I found these guys at the last NEMPA paint day a I attended a few years back, and decided to paint them up... I have many other orcs from this line, but not these guys... I even have the Polly S Armor Dark Green paint I used on the others back in High School! (I,m class of 1981) and a close up So all you Partha lovers chime in with comments and critiques! The Drow
  6. So since I don't have enough on my plate.... I decided to paint all the Duskwardens, since they are my faction... So Damaris Walmund was the choice And her little (NOT!) dog too!!!! Pinning her wrist was.... fun.... The Drow
  7. So I got his base done with 2 kinds of sand, some tufts and a blend of turfs and static grasses... WIP here... Here he is! Thanks for looking! The Drow
  8. So these guys got their bases done, and they only need to be airbrushed to get rid of extraneous stuff, but they are DONE. Another blister leaves the shelf of shame in Triumph! I noticed that the cross ties on the crossbowman's pants didn't get done...(oopsie) so tomorrow first thing WIP here Savant The leader The Aklys The spear The Crossbow So there you have them! Thanks for following along! The Drow Wonder what @DKS would think of the atrocity committed on his creations? Wonder if he painted them himself...

  11. Just to try and get some mojo going, I decided to start these guys too... Since I used to thrive on having multiple projects going at one time.... Derro Captain & Sorcerer and their troops, Derro Warriors (3) all Reaper minis Another group that has sat primed on the shelf of shame for a while... Reaper Linen White for eyes SC 75 Brown Grey for the skin... (I am stealing my old formula for skin that I used on my Reaper Duergar early days again, but stay tuned.... G
  12. Painting this guy up for ex's husband for their new campaign... Again, nothing much yet, but gotta keep track of colors.... He's been sitting on the shelf of shame for a while, and the skin was done with GW Tanned flash, but I am going over that with SC 75 Arabic Shadow.. eyes had been done at some point, so exact colors unknown... check back another time to see progress.... G
  13. So I decided to paint this gur next, but as I have Hair, I wanted him to as well, as he may end up as my PC...(Sculpting here) So after the GS dried, Primed with Stynylrez Black prime. GW Scorched Brown in his eyes, Reaper Linen white, WC One Coat Blue, then SC 75 Arabic Shade overall. Thanks for Looking! G PS Reference pics The poster was my reward for giving out and collecting Reaper Bucks at the 2018 Auction... The Drow
  14. So.... Cinder didn't work out for my return to hobbying, so I decided to try something a bit less ambitious.... Reading back through past projects, I saw one of the hangout minis of the month was Blacktounge, Gnoll Ranger from Reaper, and remembered that I had picked up this set at a paint day with the New England Miniatures folks at the Citadel games store.... I figure if I can follow my old WIP, I won't be stressing to much, and I will have another figure to add to the Frostgrave warband that was started so long ago,,,, So the 2 got assembled and puttied, and now the never ending search for minor mold lines can begin when the putty is dry... thanks for taking a look! Wish me luck!!!!
  15. SO.... Due to Brain Weasels and other Real Life Issues, I haven't been doing much, really almost no, fantasy painting... One of the things I have been doing is looking at old WIPs, and suddenly the desire to paint a DRAGON, came over me.... So here is the start of my new work on Cinder, #10014, in METAL... Hopefully, I can keep up the sudden burst of enthusiasm.... So planning on mold line hunting, and trying to decide what color to paint this dragon... As I am old school, the webbing between the back spines is leading me to green, but need to check the books to see which way to go.... About time you returned from the place I couldn't reach you minion...... OMG, please not again.... any and all comments gratefully ignored.... Knarthex
  16. Bravo 66 to all elements this net, The Drow returns! So after a long hiatus, and battle with personal problems, I have picked up my brushes, Sable and Air, again... Starting off with something rather simple, an armored task force for the Game Team Yankee, a WW III TABLETOP game(in 15mm scale), that if the war scenario in the game, and book by the same title, the members fighting in that fictional war would have included yours truly, as I was an M1 Abrams tank crewman in Germany on August 4, 1985... So the first group is of afore mentioned M1s, after assembly and priming, they were base coated with Tamiya XF-67 NATO Green, using my Grex Genesis airbrush. Next was to add the Black part of the NATO 3 color camouflage. This was done with my Iwata HP-SB Plus. The tracks and road wheel rims were then done with Vallejo German Black, and the end connectors on the tracks with a mix of GW Boltgun metal, and Secret Weapon Brown and Orange rusts. This was done with a Ro&Co size 2 brush. (thanks to all those that turned me on to Ro&Co!) Sorry for the blurry turret pics, but the gun threw things off, and I haven't done this for over a year... Not much but it is a new start... I did a complete force for a friend in 2016, the WIP can be found here Thanks for looking! George
  17. For Science! So while speaking to Pezler the Secret Enabler last week on the hangouts, I mentioned a tool that Micro Mark sells for scraping Seams on models that I had seen, and I decided it looked like just the thing for removing mold lines on Bones minis. As you can see from the last pic, the 'blade' is fairly long and reversible. The idea is to lay the flat part of the triangular blade on the seam and pull / push it along to scrape off the seam, or in our case, mold line. So I tested it out on the bottom of a Bones Sea Lion base... I scraped the "C2013" off that was next to Reaper miniatures... So far, so good, it does flats well.... Then I pulled Knarthex down from the shelf of waiting, and tried it on some of the scutes mold lines under the tail... It may still require some sanding with fine grit sanding sticks or sand paper... sorry about the pics, it isn't easy to photograph naked Bones.... And like any other tool, it will need some practice to use it well.... Overall, for the price, I consider it a useful tool for working on softer material minis. still need to try it out on plastics and metal.... George here is a link to the original photobucket site...
  18. So I finished up this teeny tiny figure for my ex last night, and thought I would show her off... Thanks for looking! G WIP here
  19. So the ex is going to be joining a new campaign, and she asked me to paint her figure, the Stonehaven female gnome rogue.... Still just starting, but need to motivate myself, as well as keeping track of colors.... Scalera is Reaper Linen White Pupil Warcolours Green 3 Skin SC 75 Arabic shade... Check back as more gets done!
  20. So at Reapercon 2018, I scored the Duskwarden poster of Thregan Helmsplitter for my work at the auction, and of course, being the Duskwarden*, I have a couple of the minis as well. So I was thinking of using him as my next PC, but as I have hair, I wanted my mini to also... While working on another project with GS, as usual, I made to much, and decided to bite the bullet and do his hair... What do you think? Comments appreciated! George * Doesn't Jacob Knochengard look like me???
  21. So, In our 'modern' world everything is classified by species, genus, etc, and has a name... @Glitterwolf, @Chaoswolf, and their ilk are Canis Lupus, Humans are Homo Sapiens, etc What would the "Scientific" name for Goblins be??? Besides worthless Drow Slaves and Crossbow fodder...
  22. Happy Birthday o Most Magnificent Instructresses of Hot Chick Painting! The Drow
  23. So as some of you may have read, I am going to try to do a basic airbrushing tutorial on Friday night, June 24, 2016, starting at about 2100 (9pm) EST on google hangouts. The idea is to show folks the basics and beginnings of how to use an airbrush... This is the mini I chose: I started the clean up, assembly, gap filling, because folks already know how to do that stuff.... I chose it because it is large enough for people to see what is going on when it is being painted, but not so big it takes over my table, like a dragon would... I have done a Type III Demon before, so I won't have to go to crazy figuring things out, and there are some semi advanced things I can try to show as things progress.... So Thanks for looking, and hope to see you at class! George
  24. So everything is packed for tomorrow... and I had nothing better to do.... So I started a new project for when I get home.... he is 14 parts of bad, and I am cleaning mold lines, and pinning stuff together... His torso is resin, everything else is metal... (so it aint crap...) mold lines are small, but pinning is being interesting..... Going to use, I think, a Secret Weapon 'Skull Field' style base.... He's about 5" tall to the top of his head...... Maybe semi assembled pics later.... G
