Learn to Paint Kit 3: When these kits were still being sold, it was suggested that this one be attempted last, even though it is #3. So now, having done the rest, it’s time to get down to business. Look at all these paints! There’s even a bottle of the brush-on sealer that everyone keeps taking about. I’m excited! Fresh brushes too! The minis are Anduriel Brightflame, Elven Warrior and Tyden, Female Barbarian. A bit of flashing and some non-Euclidean geometry happening to their weapons, but that’s nothing unusual. I’m impressed by the details on these minis, Anduriel in particular has a lot going on. Now to take a look at the instructions, see what this Non-Metallic Metal is all about. Oh. Okay. I see why it was recommended to wait on this one. Did I say excited? I meant terrified. Ah well, no sense delaying the inevitable, time to prep and practice. I hope it’s interesting at least.

With all this talk in the Painting Tips & Advice Thread of NMM vs TMM I decided to throw my caution to the wind and give my Learn to Paint Kit #5: NMM a go. While I finish the final touches on my bones barkeep and finish painting my bones blacksmith I'm going to start my prep work on my LTPK figures. They need to be cleaned up and primed. I need to read over the instructions a few times as well. So here is a shot of the figures. I'm going to be painting. Should be a challenge I hope to be up for. Edit: for title correction

The final painted miniature from the original LTPK 1-5 that I have painted. While I liked the way the front view turned out, I was less pleased about the rear view. Over all I'm glad I took the plunge and tried NMM. I plan to keep working this I like TMM as well, but I want to have technique better before I go back to TMM. And here is Tyden, Barbarian of the Shrubery...

So in December, after a little over a year of steady painting for once in my life, I decided to take the plunge and try LTPK 3. Rather than tackle all the metal parts at once I decided to paint a section at a time starting at the legs. This approach, while time consuming, I think gave me the oppurtunity to practice. I'm rather proud of how the overall miniature came out. Especially since it was my first serious attempt at NMM. Any C&C are welcome, this whole figure was a learning lesson for me. Thanks for Viewing. PS: Doh! I just notice that I forgot to fix the spot where it fell during basing.
