Blame @Bathory for the thread title and unofficial goal for this month... If you're like me, you've got a bunch of unfinished projects collecting dust. Rather than start something new, why not finish something old? My goals: Finish stone giant and these guys

Ok so early May kinda train-wrecked for me and my family so I really haven't had much time to write it up until now, apologies for the delay. Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72577-resolutionary-painting-challenge-2017-chatterquestions/ All the information you need should be here. Due to the revised format, there will be more than one bonus challenge available for this month. Including a "Hard mode" which Is some combination that may or may not have a source behind it. May and June 2017 Your challenge is: 9! Bonus Challenge: The First! Beware the Batman. In May 2014, this series first aired on Adult Swim. Paint a character you want to resemble a hero or villain from the series. Characters in the series may be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beware_the_Batman Bonus Challenge: The Second! Spirit of Summer. No, no the mini, but you can do that if you wish. Paint a mini that embodies the spirit of summer to you. It can be a character in certain colors, a water scene, or (a personal favorite) a campfire. Hard Mode Challenge! Roulette Triad. I used a highly scientific method of shooting rubber bands at the wall above my paint racks and seeing where it falls to choose three colors. All three must be used, and only these three (If you have specific colors: Great! if not, reasonable approximations are allowed, please ask if you have a question) Clear Yellow Carrot Top Red Gem Purple Good luck

Hey! In preparation for the "5 Heads in 7 Days" challenge, i decided to go ahead and do a mock-up of my planned color scheme. I think I have decided that I'm going to swap one of the heads from the traditional D&D Tiamat symbol though. Anyways, without further ado, Hydramat! Before anyone says it, I know, I KNOW that Hydras aren't typically found in cities. But we fight them all over the place, and I had a leftover base with cobbled stones on it, so he's in a city. He's an invader. Yar. ;) Let me know what you think, C&C is always welcome and appreciated!

So I put this guy together today and painted him o.O bit of a quick job for me but he was really fun to paint. Still working on taking better pictures sigh. I was trying to get a good shot of his shirt because I did a little cute thing on it. But his arms kinda cast a shadow on it. Anyway, hopefullly it's still recognizable

I painted a pirate! And he's a halfling! He's so cute! In other news, I finished a mini! He's just tabletop, had to get him done for tomorrow, so he's got a couple of iffy spots, but I like him overall. Hope Y'all like him! C&c always welcome!

Whew!! I batch painted the snot out of these guys. Started on them at about 1815, finished 16/18 by 2152. Not too bad if I do say so myself. The 2 'kobold leaders' are only about halfway done.. I'm gonna actually take my time on them and get them really pretty. Anyways, hope y'all enjoy! C&C always welcome!

Or May bee not depending on how you did prior months. Grand totals are a hair out of date, but I'll get around to that soon Also: while the enthusiasm is appreciated, please do not post the monthly threads ahead of these. If I cannot post the monthly thread for some reason, then it will be posted by Flamehawke per the established format with the appropriate information. Please see page 1 here for rules and guidelines/questions. This is also the chatter thread here: The first post as linked will contain the updated totals soon and the plan is to start getting the graphics sent to all who have completed the months so far. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/58628-resolutionary-painting-challenge-chatterinfo-thread/ Also, please only create a single index post for your links. This means to modify your existing post when you get a new figure finished instead of posting a new one. This month's challenge is: 4. We have 2 bonus challenges for this month, with even more coming up in following months. The deadline Is planned for June1 Midnight, RST. (Reaper Standard Time). Allons-y! My Entries: SDE: Forgotten King Squirrels: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62143-super-dungeon-explore-squirresl-6/(6) Nova Corp: Rifleman: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62144-80015-nova-corp-rifleman-as-nova-trooper/

This is my 'bard' for May's resolutionary painting challenge. He's from Grenadiers' old 'Future Warriors' range by Mark Copplestone. Normally, I wouldn't consider him done 'cause he's not based, but I have a few other band members from the same range; I haven't decided yet if I want to use them all together in a vignette/diorama, so I left him unbased. Heck, he's not even glued to the base yet. Some notes: I tried some freehand on the front of his t-shirt. I used decals for the back and his tattoo. I did a few glazes to try and blend it in to the skin on his arm. Please tell me that you can make out what the shirt says without checking the spoiler.

So, I finally got my lazy elf around to getting pictures off my camera for this, done over the Memorial Day painting weekend, six of these critters. No logical reason for the one being on the balcony. ...edit for misspelling "Squirrels"...

I missed the binge challenge, but I made up for it today!!I painted a total of 13 minis today.. It was amazing! They're for the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, since we're going to get started on that in the next 6 months or so. We placed a (rather large) order yesterday so we can have all the correct minis here and painted when we start! Should be exciting. Hope y'all like them! C&C always welcome!
-
More of my binge challenge minis! I was excited to get to paint the bones and pewter version!! Tabletop minis, so they're not on a base at this time... C&C always welcome!
-
This cute little fella is a Crested Felldrake made by WoTc for their Chainmail line of figures. I painted him up during the paint binge. You can't tell from the pictures (and I took a ton trying to get some decent ones) but his eyes are painted. C&C is welcome.

An old school Grenadier Halfling thief, painted up during Inarah's Memorial Day weekend weekend painting binge. I finally finished the basing last night. C&C is welcome, thanks for looking.

Another one done during the paint binge, this is an old Grenadier Dwarf cleric. He's kinda small by today's standards; he could be a Gnome, I guess. I tried a new technique with him; zenithal highlighting. I also used primarily inks to 'paint' him. I'm not entirely sure that I did it right, what do you think?

Last ones! I didn't base the cultist because I don't have the rest of them yet.. So I'm not sure how they're all gonna be based. Hope y'all enjoy these!

Here a couple of pics of the five Boo Booties in my SDE gameset. Hope it looks alright, still not sure how TMM is supposed to work so I just use the metalics straight.

Here is my final figure for the month probably. Rexie from the SDE range. One of the two I have available, though I think I may try to color the other one blue or red instead of green. I really do like how his weapon turned out.

So, I was bored today and decided to goof off. This diorama/vignette was the result. This is the only bombshell mini I have, courtesy of the melt table. I'm still working on blending, and then her ankle fell off... so she's not competition quality for sure, but she was fun. :) Those glasses were a pain though.. I definitely need more practice with that as well... Let me know what you think! C&C always welcome!

Here are the 5 zombies I finished off for May's challenge; I completed them this past weekend during Inarah's paint binge. Made by Zombiesmith. C&C welcome. And now that I've taken the pictures, I see that I haven't cleaned up the bases. Rest assured that I have properly chastised myself, and that they have since been fixed.

Finished up my last exchange mini!!! I packed it up with Malena, and some other goodies, and I plan on shipping it out tonight! I hope my partner likes it! My partner said that they usually use their minis for D&D, so I only went for a tabletop quality. Let me know what you think!! C&C is always welcome!

So, I got two of these, and my exchange partner (who doesn't know this is for them!!) said they use minis mostly for D&D gameplay. I figured it was a good way to paint up some cloth and work on blending. She has the smallest eyes I have ever painted, so they are not great. :) Working on more blending after this, but at least she's done! C&C always welcome, enjoy!

Alrighty y'all.. I sculpted me a base last night. ;) Coral is easy in theory, but then it has all these little finger things... So, I hope that it translated well with the dots I did. Hope y'all like him!! More pics on my blog, just a few for here. :)
-
I wanted to make a beholder, so I did! I got the Mini Monsters, and an eyestalk sprue and went to town! The Hubs wanted him for a game, so tabletop it is! Hope y'all like him! He was a lot of fun.

Mwahahahaha! I finished this guy in time for the Monday Miniature on Caffeineforge.com! So exciting! I can't tell y'all how thankful and happy I am after all 8 of my classes at reapercon. I learned so so SO much! My goal is silver next year, so I'm working on my blending, color theory, etc this year. This guy was a lot of fun, a lot of work. Each scale is basecoated, washed, lined on edges, lined down middle with shadow, lined down middle with highlight, and hit with a final highlight. So glad Kuro talked me into buying good brushes! I imagine that his tail is like a lure, he can catch all the fishies with it. And maybe an explorer or 2. :) Things I need to do on him are: his base (gotta watch some more tutorials, didn't get a class this year), the shading on the back of his wings (it still eludes me, grr), and gap filling. Anything else y'all see? C&C welcome and appreciated.... Enjoy! ETA: full WIP and lots more pictures on my blog if you're interested. I also included the 5 stages of grief of using greenstuff.
