Standifer posted a topic in Works in Progress: PaintingI hadn’t originally planned to do a work in progress on this as after a certain amount of time I kinda sputter out on them. But after I started thinking about it I decided to go ahead and do it. This is my home brewed Mercenary company the Blue Ravens. The mechs are in various stages of completion. First up is the Famous or infamous, Timberwolf AKA Mad cat. I confess that my freehand is not the greatest, but at least you can tell it’s a mouth. Next up is the Warbow the model for this one is a hybrid of a Warhammer and a Longbow. With the way the missile launchers look I’m attempting to give it a warplane look to a certain degree. and finally we have the Blackknight, a kintaro and a Catapult. Thankyou for looking!
Blue Ravens Mercenaries
Standifer posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingThe Blue Ravens are my home brewed mercenary company for Alpha Strike. I’ve have several mechs in a WIP thread however I do have a lance worth of finished models already I just haven’t taken the time to post them. These models have been 3d printed as have the bases which are 45mm with the models being in 6mm scale. first up is the hard hitting Warhammer 2C it does have a pair of custom made guns to make it looks a bit more unique. This thing is intended to be the Commanders personal ride during the Clan invasion after he manages to defeat its original owner in 1v1 combat at the cost of his own mech. Next up we have a marauder. This was actually a partial failure when it was printed. So I ended up cutting the cannon off my first failed custom Warhammer 2c and made one good mech out of the two. Next up is a Regular old Warhammer nothing special here. Save the biggest for last a 100 ton King Crab. Thankyou for Looking!

Funded Armored Core RTS
Chrome posted a topic in KickstarterArmored Coreâ„¢ RTS is a real time strategy board game where all players pilot mechs, fire weapons, activate equipment and direct support troops simultaneously. This new system captures the speed of the video games in a smooth, accurate and action-packed flow that's compressed into a series of 20 minute missions. This officially licensed version of Armored Coreâ„¢ has been designed to be fast to setup, fast to teach and fast to play. Featuring unique components like LED pointers built into each miniature's base to provide instantaneous line of sight as well as physical buildings to provide cover and a rooftop level. Between the 20 minute missions, players spend their hard-earned rewards on upgrading their mechs and equipment. Construct your mech according to your play-style and team role. Over the course of the campaign teams will strive to accomplish objectives for their faction in order to become the ultimate Ravens.
CAV - A selection of 6 Mechs
Edsterdoom posted a topic in Works in Progress: PaintingI decided to try and paint up a few of the CAV models I got in the Ace pledge, for my son. He selected two Halberd, Assasin and Wight models to start with. These were cleaned up a little, the mould lines are that obvious on these models, and in some place add to the detail. They were then clean and boiled for a bit to straighten the bent guns, followed by a quick dip in cold water. I initially tried to prime them in a khaki brown colour made with a brand of paint form Howard Hues, but this rubbed off far too easily, so I ended up going for a coat of Steel Legion Drab (GW), this seems to stick a lot better for these models. Not the best picture ever, but they are now a lot darker then I wanted, so some highlighting is going to be required. I am going to try and keep to few few highlight accents for each race of Mech, but they may turn out to be quite a ragtag bunch, I intend to paint two of each type with a base of Steel Legion Drab and the other with either a dark green or a grey. Comments or suggestions welcome as always.
Pivoting to Fire -vrs- Facing change / Pose-able Models
TGP posted a topic in CAV GeneralI wondered how many of the CAV collectors (players?) on this forum assemble their models in some way so that the CAV is still free to pivot at its "waist" joint. It strikes me that the ability for the top part of a CAV to pivot 360 degrees like battleship gun turret is visually represented on all the models, as if that was really important tactically. But I don't ever remember anybody assembling their models and leaving them pose-able. I also don't remember it ever being significant in any version of the game. "It" being the ability for the top half of the mech to be facing (and shooting) one direction while the bottom half is facing (and perhaps moving) in a different direction. Being able to do that almost seems like the whole point of building a fighting vehicle in a mechanoid configuration. Has anybody ever tricked out their CAV with magnets so the top can pivot but stay in place? or done anything else to get the same effect?
