  1. This guy is Gon'Tarr, Orc Shaman (SKU 3879) in metal from Reaper. I thought he needed a hat since his head was so flat. At first I wanted a bowler hat, but I didn't have one laying around so he got a fancy feathered one instead which suits him just fine. I decided he had been around a while, so a wily dangerous middle-aged orc (or half-orc). His face was hard to get to hiding under the hat, so its kinda a mess.
  2. I constructed this in the 2018 Bones Mash-up at Reapercon. The wings do not go with the body, and one of the arms is not original. I forget what the weapon was but I cut it off the bone handle and added a wicked looking blade from my bits box. He was kind of boring all in grey and white, so I added a dab of blood, and put some orange into his bat wings. He's on a Secret Weapon base that has added sand to fill in weird gaps.
  3. This is my entry to the 2017 Valentine's Day Painting Contest. I call it "The Ladykiller". It's a modified 77207: Dub Bullock, with a bouquet of flowers replacing his usual knife. It appears he's got his eye on some (un)lucky gal... This is my first modified figure, and it was a blast. I made the roses by glueing a 4mm x 20mm rectangle of putty to a jewelry wire at one end, then rolling it up, pinching it at the bottom. I shaped and spread the petals by poking at the coil of putty with a pin. I cut away the mini's knife and drilled a hole through his hand and pushed the bouquet through. The bouquet wrapper was a partly hardened sheet of putty that I wrapped around a shaped filler around the flowers. That partly hardened sheet of putty also produced the ribbon for the Valentine's Day chocolate box, which was just three sheets of putty left to harden, then cut to shape and glued together. My daughter says that I could take up the hobby of producing doll-sized food from Fimo clay, if I wanted. The Bones version of this model has a mold line down the center of the mini's face, and so the facial features are a bit garbled. I had to trim away flash and do a bit of reconstructive surgery on his nose and chin with superglue applied with the point of a pin. The paint job was a bit rushed, because I put off painting until the last minute, then came down with the flu on Wednesday. I pushed through the illness and painted these last three nights, and got it submitted to the contest with less than an hour to spare.
  4. 75mm resin mini Primed and put mostly together The color scheme Todd picked out Started the skin
  5. I finished using the last of the pole arms from the bits pile. I used the pole arms to make the sword blades, the tips of bows to make the hook pommels. I may have gone a little heavy on the biel-tan green got some shine on it that showed up as white. used some pavement rocks and foam white board for the base. I know the brown hair is not cannon(maybe) for a savage Orc but I like the way it turned out.as always feel free to comment. thanks for looking.
  6. 02330: Templar Knight. I changed out his original mace as I noticed his hand was missing a thumb and I wanted a more dramatic weapon. I also added a sword to the left side for balance. Still some work to do. C&C is welcome.
  7. I am back! Have been pretty busy with holidays and stuff, but now I have finally painted up (most of) my dungeon party. This first one is probably the one I am most proud of, since it is my first time experimenting with both sculpting and colour blending and I think the result turned out quite nicely. . Here she is, in all her glory! Backside Quite heavy make-up... Close-up of blending She is a warlock tiefling, with connections to the Fae Goddess Lurue, which is a Unicorn Goddess, hence the light colours. My friend had painted a portrait of her character and she had the more "curly" horns, so that was an obvious modification. I also found Sinessas nose (or lack thereof) a bit annoying, so I added some GS to that as well. Since I found my first experiment with modification through GS a success I went ahead and also switched her trident for a pin needle which I turned into a staff matching her horns. What do you think?
  8. Here my first two miniatures that I have painted please let me know what you all think.(update the models are 77279: Narthrax and 89032 Anti Paladin) I modified Narthrax with fire out of the mouth. And I modified Anti Paladin by Thinning the cape out.
  9. From one of my Friday Pathfinder games, I present Ojar. He is our cavalier, and has several children with the queen, but we refuse to call him "king" on account of how terrible a leader he has proven himself to be. He is mounted upon his noble elk steed Ozmataz and wields his legendary falchion Buckshank. He flies the flag of our kingdom Arcadia, which we have built up over the past few irl years using Kingdom building and Downtime rules. The colors and designs are by the player's request, except for the red horse armor, which I painted red because the original metallic made it all look washed out. I tried to use static grass, but I haven't figured out how to make it not look awful. This took entirely too long to finish, but life happens. Comments and criticism requested. This is a conversion piece. The horse is from Lord Vandrian (14186) with the antlers from Beastmen of the Wyld (02900). The body is the Pathfinder Iconic cavalier (60045), and the falchion is from a weapon pack, but I don't remember which because I just have a pile of weapons. On a somewhat related note, do any of you have a good way of transporting larger minis like this? It doesn't fit in my small Chessex foam-lined box, so I've been carrying it in a cardboard box with bubble wrap. I have several larger minis I regularly use in my tabletop games and would like a better solution. Thanks for looking!
  10. This is Reaper Bones 77283 Necromancer modified to be Urgathoa, the Pathfinder deity of physical excess, disease, and the undead. The mod consisted of replacing her leg with a skelly leg.
  11. Edit: Since this is now complete, here are before and after photos, so those who don't want to read through the whole process can see the results: before: after: If you want to see exactly how I got from one to the other, read on! ------------ The Bones KS 1 version of "Ellen Stone, Cowgirl" had a badly deformed face. I'll attempt to repair it. It should have looked like this, as the metal version does: But what I got, even after working a bit to build up the nose and do a liner wash, is something so bad my camera can't even autofocus on it:
  12. My son wanted to play a titan mauler barbarian in our ongoing pathfinder campaign. So with my Stonehaven minis fresh in hand I found one that was about perfect, except for the weapon... So with a little modification this is what I produced. I enjoyed working on this mini and I like the mini itself. The sculptor does wonderful faces and the pose, while a little more display than I would like, is very appropriate for the mini. So without further display, here is Grok Gockamuc, Titan mauler. Comments and critique are always welcome. <*edit to add challenge tag*>
  13. A tribute to the best movie of last year, and probably my favorite movie of all time: John Wick (with Keanu Reeves)! Though I have a weakness for action movies in general, and assassin/hitman/spy on revenge spree movies particularly . These are the minis that gave their life for John Wick: Body from 50051: Max Decker, Private Eye ($5.99) Hand with Gun from 50010: Daniel Sterling, Secret Agent of GUARD ($4.99) Other Hand from http://www.reapermin...rn/latest/80009 Head from http://www.reapermin...rd/latest/89028 Before paint: Reference pics: And finally, the paintjob! Edited for spelling
  14. This represents my son's 5th edition elven trickery cleric. The bird is supposed to be his holy symbol. It is from Bones familiar pack 77176. I also shortened his sword to be a short sword.
  15. So, it has finally happened. The other half of the games name has appeared in Encounters. So in responce to this momentous occasion, I Re-Painted several D&D Minis of the appropriate dragon type for the four regular DMs at our FLGS, Gatehouse Games. And of course I'm sharing this occasion with a bunch of Internet people, too. More Pics at the Linky-Link below. http://s124.photobucket.com/user/GenericFighter/library/4%20Dragons%20for%204%20DMs?sort=3&page=1 GF
  16. So, I should explain a bit. My current campaign of D&D 4E has required me obtaining and painting multiple Medium sized Bear like minis. Said game has an Elven Sentinel Druid with a Bear Animal Companion that is also a Werebear! Since the game is rapidly approaching the level that Were-Bears can become a Hybrid form, I've had to work on finishing those minis. So without further ado, I present Peevo the Wonderbear and Dara Silverleaf's bear and Hybrid Forms! Peevo the Wonderbear Dara's Bear Form Dara's Hybrid Form Peevo has had a Badly made Fez with Tassle added to the original mini. Hybrid Dara originally had a weird Shovel-Battleaxe-thing. Chopped off the ends of those, added a brass stick, Glued a small green bead to the end of that and used some Procreate to add the "braided" root-like stuff. These are also the first minis I've painted since I got Prescription Magnifying eyeglasses. They have helped immensely! GF
  17. Growing up in the 80's, I was a Gamer before I even started Kindergarden. Playing my Atari 2600 and my Uncle's Game Systems, I became an advid Gamer early on. One of those cherished early Memories is Playing Donkey Kong at my Uncle's house. Fast forward about 3 decades, I've stayed a fan of the classic Video Games and Retro Video Games like them. But I've added a few new interests to my Life, Role Playing Games and Miniature games. Also, I've become a rather decent Miniature Painter over the last decade. And now I can mix all of those Interests into one project...this one! So, a little bit about the Mini in Question. Once a standard DDM Dire Ape, it was modified for me by Benoit of the Roving Band of Misfits Blog with help from the Guys at Going Last Blog and Podcast. I won a contest done by Benoit's Blog and gave him the Mini at GenCon 2011 just before the FourthCore Team Deathmatch. I got it back about 5-6 Months later fully modified. It is Awesome and I knew I needed a bit more skill to give Painting it a try. Well, that time is NOW! All he has so far is Primer and a Base Coat. But I am determined to do my best. Wish me luck:) He be Spoilered for those with Questionable Inter-Webs quality.
  18. Well, might as well post some of my best stuff. and Sheep-Thing:P Most of my Minis that I'm proud of are ones that I've Mangled...I mean Modified. So here goes nothing... Note: I'm just posting one Pic per Mini so I do not Overload anyones Inter-Webs, hopefully. You can find more pics of each in my PhotoBucket Album linked in my Sig. So that was Sheep-Thing. Made from a couple of DDMs and some fuzzy cotton sheet thing. Was inspired by a player in the Local Encounters group. Her PC was a Tiefling Fire Elementalist that had refluffed her powers as being originating from a Deformed, two-legged Sheep named Snapdragon She had saved. So I made Sheep-Thing for Her. Splug, Goblin Sorcerer and Emergency Ration Supply :P Also, Used for my Goblin Cleric, Itch, that I played during the first Drow themed Encounters Season last year. Itch was Awesome! He had conviced 3 Goblin Minions to follow him at one point. Fed one to an Ogre, One died in battle and the Third, "Meat-Shield #3", Road a Spider that was on Fire into the Drow Torcher Theater as a distraction! Fun Times! Itch was played during the same season as Sheep-Thing was. Behold! My Lazor Beholder! Was a Prize for the DDM Guild Community Draft at GenCon 2012. Another Prize from GenCon 2012 Com. draft. I painted a Clear Plastic DDM Guild rebase as a Shardmind warrior-type. The DDM Elder Blue Dragon Repainted for the 2012 North American DDM Championship! Winner of the Champs won this bugger! Mini is one of the best sculpts in the entire DDM line and seeing it with a decent paintjob proves that. And Damn, that thing took forever to paint! For the "God of War and Tyranny" Bane here originally came with a rather Dinky Mace. So, I fixxed it:P And finally, we have my "Country-Western Cow-Boy":P So, I took a DDM Goristro and Chopped off its Right Arm, repositioned it, then made him a Cowboy Hat, gave him a Tongue and added a little wooden Guitar to his now correctly positioned Arms. GF
  19. I am quite the amatuer when it comes to painting minis. However, I find it a lot of relaxing fun. My D&D group is only halfway (?) through the original full DragonLance modules, so we need a lot of minis for all of the characters! The problem I run in to is finding a mini that best suits the character. Case in point was finding a female dwarven monk for my new character Ulfa. I couldn't find anyone without big weapons! I came across "03363: Dannin Deepaxe, Female Dwarf" and decided to try my hand at modification. I removed the axe and shield and tried to reform the hands. Not the best photographer, but here are the results:
