This is an old figure from Black Orc Games. They are sadly out of business now. They used to carry a very wide variety of very inexpensive miniatures in a lot of different genres. What was special about them though was that they'd take sculpts from anyone as long as they were of at least decent quality. It was a way for aspiring sculptors to get thier work out to the public. I have a few pieces from them that aren't necessarily Reaper quality, but they're more than adequate for game pieces. Anyway, this is from their 'jungle kingdoms ' line.

Painted up an old mini I've had forever. Pretty much just slapped some GW contrast paints on him, with a few metallics (Vallejo Gunmetal and Chrome), and some Reaper Walnut Brown for the eyes.

Thread title pretty much sums it up. This is Callus the Renegade from Black Orc’s Hundred Kingdoms, sculpted by Jason Wiebe: There is is a lot going on here, from chain, scale, and plate to all the spangly bits and Things on Belts. Tried to add some variety of color where possible. Not sure what actual colors were worn by Roman soldiers, but red is popular among cosplayers according to Google. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t purple at least. Turns out Dark Elf Skin is a pretty good approximation of actual gorilla flesh. It also seems that brown is not a popular color for actual gorilla fur, but whatever. I was unsure just what that thing in his left hand is, so I imagined it as some sort of monkey-headed scepter, and painted it up in Dragon Copper and Antique Gold. Mostly as an excuse to try out some GW verdigris. I probably miffed the placement, but it’s a neat effect. Very much a “nasty old penny” look. Did I mention this guy is big? Presenting Gretel (and her monkey Hansel) a revenge-seeking witch-hunter and part of the Servants of the Engine faction from the game Twisted. She can also be found in my Steampunk People WIP thread. Super happy with how this one turned out, particularly little Hansel! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

This is the last of my painted figures from recent weeks. I wanted to do him up in dark colors, without using a lot of black. I don't have a specific character in mind, and this way he can fit a variety of roles if he ever sees use on a game table. Now to rest up and clean the table for the big weekend!

So In order to participate in the 54mm Challenge. I will start with the Master Series 54mm Pirate Queen, Maria Roseblade. First step, prepping and assembly.

Last week, I left the PCs in my FATE campaign journeying into a vortex, nd the only sentient creature they have encountered was a steam powered robot. And I have had this little mechanical monkey just sitting around.... He will be commanding 3 warforged and carrying a bladed-disc. basing suggested by wife. adding a cotton swab seemed easier than sculpting a cloud.- has anyone had a different experience? TMM - or an early attempt at it. I will get better. on the battlefield: Later, gentleman bugbear explorer rejoins the group.

These guys were my first attempts at painting wood grain. Could have gone a little better, but practice makes perfect! (Also: I need a steadier hand.) The general effect I was aiming for was "carved wood painted in thin paint by primitive tribe" so I tried to keep the wood grain a tiny bit visible through the paint of the masks.

I posted this guy a few weeks ago, but I don't post him right, so I'm reposting him because I love him.

Mr Chimpy McChimperson is all done! I couldn't resist including a little cross-comic reference: Overall I'm pretty happy with this little ape, though I kind of forgot what I was doing and fluffed the jeans, and I think maybe the belly sticking out should have been covered in black hair. Not sure if the bloody bat is too much; I may be overdoing it with the gore lately because I have a recipe that I'm really happy with. Also, I need a better name for him than Chimpy McChimperson. Maybe... the Bear Chimp?

This is one funky monkey. My first and natural instinct was to paint him with a standard black leather jacket, but I thought I'd give him a bit of a James Dean look with the red jacket and jeans. The rest really just fell together nicely. Big risk with this guy was the shades - I hummed and hahhed about doing black shades or mirror shades, but my better half convinced me that I should be trying to grow my skills and I went for it. I wouldn't say it came out exactly perfect, or that it was necessarily the right mini to do it on, but I'm happy with it.

Last one done for the weekend! Yes, that is a banana in his pocket. He's probably still happy to see you, though. I'm happy with how all the colours turned out on him, but he's leaning slightly forward on his base so it's a bit tricky to get a good photo angle.
