funded Scoundrels of the Damned Ruins (Grimforge Miniatures)
Lidless Eye posted a topic in Kickstarter
A very fitting tribute to the classic days of Mordheim. I'm glad they're doing both physical and STLs...I like to copy everything and mirror it when I print multi-part pieces to get more variety. They've also got several add-ons of some of their existing conversion sets. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/grimforge/scoundrels-of-the-damned-ruins?ref=user_menu "Mighty backers, welcome to the second campaign by Grimforge Miniatures! A difficult year has passed for all and we have worked hard on a lot of projects but the main project which has lead our work is to create a new range of multicomponent miniatures capable to give you the opportunity to assembly a lot of different warbands, an evolving expandable system born to integrate old and new models and kit for the best kitbash you can imagine. we have decide to keep the grimdark fantasy style full of citations from the 90's period and from the paint of artists like hyeronimus bosch. We have also taken the big decision to release for the first time also a digital version of this kit to give everyone the opportunity to print their scoundrels at home. So you have 2 options: traditional resin models or Stl files. We have sculpted a complete multicomponent kit and we have a solid range of Stretch Goals to give you the opportunity to unleash your scoundrels during your games. All our miniatures are cast in Italy with high quality resin, the best way to give you miniatures as faithful as possible to the original sculptures. If you already know our models, you already have proof of the quality of our products. On the other hand, if this is your first experience with us then you are even luckier! in the last year we have improved the quality of our models and our efficiency so you will receive our best job! here are the "Scoundrels of the damned ruins": mercenaries, treasure seekers, cutthroats... these are the scum who are ravaging the Damned Ruins and you will be able to assembly a warband in a lot of different styles, from pirate to landsknecht with a moltitutide of weapons and accessories."- 13 replies

As every year I make at least one Pit Fighter as a sacrifice to a Mordheim revival, I started out early this year. For the holidays, a friend got me the Greenfield Grasshuggers Blood Bowl team, despite me not playing, he said it felt weird to have a team named in my honor but I didn't own it. So instead, he enabled this horror: Out of the cruel depths of Mordheim's cheapest fighting pits comes the never-victor, the eternally battered Halfling Gladiator only known as Bloodytoes! The other is an as-is Ogre Gladiator from Knightmare Models. Delightfully retro.

Here are my last tributes toward a Mordheim revival in 2019. It didn't work. "We who are about to die salute you" "Hook" Hogan

Fresh from their latest Kickstarter, here are some Mercenaries from MOMMiniaturas. They're really making me want to play Mordheim again. The Ogres: A Witch Hunter type: A self-portrait that I had to get as an add-on: A very obvious remake of one of Mordheim's first special characters, Johann the Knife: The rest of the Empire-style mercenary scum:

I think this was my longest uncompleted figure, having started him 14 years ago. Having most of him finished to the best of my ability at that time he didn't take too long to complete, and on the advise of Malefactus I plopped him on a larger base, which I painted in the style of the examples found in the Mordheim rulebook. (I also discovered that younger me had closely followed the paint scheme for this figure, changing only the hat, ribbon and sword colors) The Purging of November begins... I redid the original freehand on his sword, as younger me had a bit of trouble getting all the letters on. I was also able to stylize them somewhat. The light dusting on his coat wasn't intentional but a happy accident. And here he is with some friends, a Ral Partha Witch Hunter who has recently had a Mordheim sword arm attached and a Bones Village Rioter.

At least once a year, I like to convert up a Hired Sword in sacrifice to the eventual resurrection of Mordheim. This guy was an Age of Sigmar Bloodreaver in his previous life.

Hey all! I don't think I've posted any pics before, I'm relatively new to the hobby and still very green, so the paint jobs aren't nearly as amazing as some of the others here. Also, not gonna lie, wish I had a better camera than my phone. But I took the photos and I'm fairly proud of them, so I might as well show you guys! I made these guys as a warband for the long-dead-but-still-cool Warhammer subgame Mordheim. The default Chaos flavor is a little generic grimdark for my tastes, lots of red/black, skulls, etc. I wanted something more visually striking, and hopefully slightly unnerving, to bring to the table; whats more, having basically no money to spend on miniatures GW discontinued 15 years ago, I challenged myself to get the job done with Reaper Bones I still had lying around unpainted. It took some conversion work, and a few painting experiments with a mixed bag of results, but I finally got everything together! Lets go down the roster! Brother Festus and Brother Remble Just a couple of Bones Cultists, gently converted to properly arm them with weapons that could count as clubs in-game. The guy on the right was a simple hand transplant from 77122: Tierdeleira (whose hair went to another mini), but it proved more difficult to arm the left cultist, who had both hands on that book. Basically nipped his wrist off, carefully shaved his hand from the pages of the book, and then cut where the book meets his chest so I could fold it in and make room for a weapon hand (generously donated from Galladon, Male Wizard). These guys went through a few different color combos, but I liked where they eventually settled, and ended up using it as the color basis for the others. Wretched Athok, and Bellsworth The Warlock These two are basically unconverted, being more or less perfect for their intended purposes right out of the blister. Guy on the left is the warband's leader and Magister, and thus gets a slightly fancier, but more well-worn version of the cultist's robes. Guy on the right is a hired mercenary, a warlock for coin that I'll have to pay for at the beginning of every battle, so I figured it appropriate that he'd have his own clothes and robes, and just be wearing the "hat" of whomever he's currently working for. Maybe someday I'll paint over the scribbles in their respective books and scrolls (you can see I tried and failed to scrawl "CONTRACT" at the top of Bellsworth's scroll), I'm just no damn good at freehand yet. Tybalt and Wink, Mutants Playing Chaos is fun because you get to send in the mutated freaks. In this case, giant protruding spines and a prehensile eyestalk, respectively. Both of these guys are actually made from the same base model, the bones Ghast. Tybalt got his hair from the same dark elf I stole Remble's mace from, which was a really fun to paint but I kinda screwed up by applying a glossy finish, and borrowed a spear from a Heroclix amazon I have like 10 of. The spines are just plain old toothpicks, cut to size and glued whereever I could fit them! Meanwhile, Wink got his eyestalk from a Bones Eye Beast I'd been putting off painting (you'll see where the rest of them ended up shortly), and his arms I took off of a prepainted D&D Bugbear I got when I first started collecting. He's a cool mini, but he's also a Bugbear, which are a pretty stupid monster race, so he mostly served as an off-color orc I'd throw into crowds. The scale on the arms is way off, but I figured screw it, he's a mutant. Bilecraw The Radiant, BeastmanBeastmen are fairly easy to come by, but at this point, who cares about a skinny minotaur or some dumb lug with a goat head? I wanted to get weird with it. This guy was a good old-fashioned kitbash, born from me desperately rooting around in my bin of old heroclix gathering dust in the basement for (a: something bird-themed (Tzeentch likes birds), and (b: a beefy torso and legs, preferably armed with a club. I eventually found the raw materials I needed in an admittedly cool Dark Phoenix figure, Hercules for the torso, and a quick hand transplant from Absorbing Man. Very happy with how the paint job on the wings turned out, he's definitely going to stand out on the table, which may be a problem when it comes to, say, crossbowmen, but I guess that's a bridge to be crossed later. May want to try getting a few more angles with this guy, theres a lot to love. Reinholdt Forever-Altered, PossessedFor the mutated-beyond-sanity heavy-hitter of the warband, I dove into my bitz box, and basically combined pieces from something like four different already-cut-up minis with a little filler putty and superglue, to make a thoroughly broccolied-up Chaos spawn. Original figures, to wit: head, body, tentacles (remember I said these'd show up again?), claw. Because he's got a lot more depth to him than most guys, its hard to photograph him, so you miss stuff like the arc of the claw, the little red eyes on the tentacles, or his windswept white hair, but you get the gist. Just a big ol Cronenberg. All that took me about a week and a half to get through, but it was a lot of fun! I'm hoping to get more done over the next couple weeks, just for laughs and to get through my backlog of unpainted minis. I'm also eyeing the aforementioned now-tentacle-less Eye Beast, who at this point is a few easily-obtained horns away from being a dead ringer for a DOOM Cacodemon.

Welcome the living classics! My new project - Mordheim mercenary ogre. Those miniatures from GW golden age are kind of awkward - they are have some real character in it, but the sculpting is really not the top. IMO it still best modern GW 3D-printed dummies, but, well, there are lot of flaws and mistakes, common for newbie sculptors (i walked this path too, so i know how it looks). Well, that where Tamiya putty comes forward and fixes this. As you can see, i used some Tamiya putty on a grounded and partially painted model. Yes, this is as cool as it is! I think some minor work on his face will be a good idea. You can track this project flow on my Patreon page. I will be grateful for your support.

Joined an ongoing Pathfinder campaign, and made these to match the current enemies we have been fighting. One mage, and three thugs. Got basing left to do.: The mage is actually a Warhammer Flagellant with some elven bits. Edit for adding all pics to first post.: Edit: I've now used some more of my cultists for a Blood Bowl team. And there are still a few left on the sprues! This kit has such awesome value. They were all batch painted, last night, after using a couple to choose the scheme.:

This trio may not have come from a Kickstarter, but they went into the factory line at the same time as my November Kickstarter paint projects. It's just a group of low-lives styled after those in "The Witcher" video game series, heavily converted. The crate in the group shot came in my ReaperCon swag bag.

This guy was a lot of fun and, at the same time, very frustrating. I tend to assemble completely then paint. It's a personal preference, but this guy had enough gribbly bits that I felt I would do it a disservice. I'm very happy with how he turned out, even if the photos aren't as good as I'd like them to be. This is always a frustration with me, but these photos really don't do the poor soul any justice. The horse, however, is probably the worst thing in the figure, I used references, but still came out waaaay too flat, but it looks okay-ish all together. Dismounted: C&C Welcome!

Finished these tonight. I think I've posted the vampire before, but I based her, so that's new. Now I am just missing three dregs, and the warband is ready to play:

Again, some washed out photos due to the lack of lighting during the winter storm, but I recently finished a bunch of Cultists. I built them with the idea of using them in both Frostgrave as random encounters or a warband, and as Cult of the Possessed in Mordheim. First we have some character types: The Magister/Wizard: The Apprentice: The Mutants: Darksouls/Barbarians: And the group:

Making a Mordheim warband mostly for fun, as I don't have any locals to play with, but maybe it can create a little wave among the local Necro players. :D So I bought these really cool minis from Heresy. Three ghouls and a necromancer. I am going to need five ghouls total, three dregs and a vampire, but first things first. I've based them and shaded, and are currently waiting for them to dry: Based bronze skin tone: Shaded with plenty of Agrax Earthshade: Could not help myself. The necromancer was pointing at something, and I added another 'finger' from the sprue remains. Based with grey:

I've been working on some conversions for the new Cultists from Frostgrave. I tried to set them up to pull double-duty as Cult of the Possessed for Mordheim. I really enjoy this kit, I'm going to have to get a second one just for sci-fi conversions...I've used up almost all the parts already.

This lady is going to be a part of different skirmish game warbands. Mainly Necromunda and Mordheim. The little mushrooms/plants on the base are made of dried grape wines.

Hey all, I mentioned in a previous thread that I had been working on a Dwarf Treasure Hunters warband for the Mordheim game. Here are the pictures that I have so far. These are all Games Workshop or Marauder Miniatures. Questions and comments are always welcome. Thanks for taking the time to look!

Hey all, just a quick picture of an Imperial Dwarf from the early days of Warhammer Fantasy. He is pulling duty as the Noble for my Mordheim Dwarf Treasure Hunters these days. His color scheme set the stage for the entire warband (which I can post another time if there is interest). Questions and comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking!
