  1. Another one for Patrons this month. It's been so long since I have painted an Infinity model, I'd forgotten at how beautiful the sculpts really are. I pulled inspiration from Akira since the bike reminded me so much of those comics. This one was easy to paint, and since it was Infinity I had to go NMM and I did my best to match the quality of Angel Giraldez. I'm not sure if it was mission accomplished...
  2. Alright, he's done! This little guy is a gift for my computer repairing friend, who has dealt with my computer for far too long. He's an uber nerd. I tried my hand at NMM again on the pistol. This time I didn't quite go all the way to black, sortof. I used a super pale blue-gray, then washed with black, and highlighted with ghost white. There is a wee blue part on the back of the pistol - those are my friend's initials. The figure in the store page that's painted has the hands as just hands, but I saw extra wrinkles and decided to make the hands gloved instead. Would have been too much of a pain to file them down to hands, I think. Impression I was going for with the outfit was sweater, jeans, gray coat, black gloves and boots. I considered putting 5318008 on the calculator, but my brushes complained about that, so I went with pi. Still working out the photography aspect, but these aren't too shabby. Unfortunately, I accidentally got my fingerprints all over the outer lens of my nice camera when disassembling the lighting setup after this photo >.< The lens stuck to the light ring and it was so clear that I didn't notice until I bopped it with my greasy mitts. 3. I was on a dwarf kick a while back while attempting to make a dungeon dive game. It was a practice on nonmetallic metals. Thanks for looking.
  4. ^^ So that's the link to the WIP thread for this guy. He did not turn out to be a fastish paint job. He turned into my experiment. I put more work into highlighting the hair than I usually do. I got his bald dome more shiny than I have for past skin tones. I've done bits of freehand before, but this is the first fabric pattern freehand I've done (turned out a bit thicker than I would have preferred, but I still like it). First NMM for me ever. I may have been better off with a classic sword or straight line sort of thing, but ehh... this turned out okay for a first shot, I think. The axes took 3-4 hours And for good measure, I scuffed up his boots in the "sand", and put a shadow of him on the sand. I got my nice camera rolling, but not I am re-learning it. Got a diffused ring LED attached to it for lighting. Just a piece of gray-blue construction paper in the background. Comments, critiques, shrieks of "what in the heck is this junk?!" all welcome!
  5. I don't even know what this model is in Oldhammer, let along Age of Sigmar. But I liked it (part of a big army deal with rats and elves, I play the rats) and wanted to paint something not Undead, not rats, and to help build my KoW collection (my opponents now use him as a Drakon Lord). My NMM gold always turns out a lot better than my NMM silver, so I decided my elves, when I eventually paint them, will have gold in their scheme.
  6. Hi all, so want to work on bronze, and doing it as NMM . Any suggestions for base, shade and highlight colors?
  7. This was a speed paint I did in an attempt to paint faster and not overthink my miniatures. I had painted fhe base previously. Boris took and hour, my NMM attempt took 40 more minutes.
  8. I started experimenting with NMM, and there are so many cool NMM tutorials over the web that I decided to try a couple. I got this pewter blade I can strip and re-paint as many times I want. This is the first attempt, I was roughly following this tutorial: It didn't turn out as nice as the blade in the tutorial, but I'm still kind of happy with it. NMM is still magic for me :) Advice is welcome and appreciated!
  9. Well, I may still add some more sculpted leaves to the base and fiddle with the reflection in terms of making it look "shiney" but for now, I present my crazy mad scheme of a project. I started working on this back last summer and it has languished on my desk through fits of irritation with the reflection, me bemoaning the use of monochrome and how it prevents me from doing the sneaky glazing trick, etc, etc. I could consider her done and probably sleep better at night! This is Reaper's 54 mm Master Series Finari, sculpted by the awesome but infamous Werner Klocke. I love this sculpt because it gave me a chance to really work hard on my NMM skills, and let's face it, Klockenbooty is deeply satisfying to paint! This sculpt did not contain a scary amount of buckles! Hooray! The idea started with me seeing EricJ's Ramos and thinking a reflection would be a nifty project. Then I thought about the Wizard of Oz, magic mirrors and Alice in Wonderland and morphed them all into this: For this project I wanted to practice monochrome, so the colors for most of the piece are pure black (just a bit), nightshade purple, dark elf skin, aircraft gray, leather white, pure white and a teeny tiny amount of titanium white. The mirror effect I devised using a photo of the mini that I reversed as well as a photo of the mini in a mirror to get the angles worked out. FYI if anyone decides to try this again, make sure to appropriately shrink the miniature's head in the reflection as it will be sculpted larger than reality. I played with the colors of the reflection, but I think I ended up using the ocher gold triad plus white and mahogany brown for the armor, sapphire blue and marine teal for the sky, the clouds are probably leather white, snow shadow and twilight blue, the purple is carnival with white and nightshade purple. greens are olive and IMEF olive with a bit of forest green. The base is mostly sculpey with a bit of greenstuff and the tree milliput and greenstuff. The leaves of the tree are etched brass. I am happy to answer any questions! C&C always welcome! Oh, and I entered it over on CMON in their All the Shades of Gray Contest if anyone feels like voting! I will bring her to Reapercon and am happy to let people see her up close! Just don't drop her... edited for larger pics!
  10. I'm a novice painter and this is about the 20th mini I painted up. I'm about to DM and old-school dungeon crawling campaign using 3.5 rules and I'm in the process of painting up the necessary minis. So I started painting for strictly tabletop purposes but I'm enjoying it much more than expected. I've decided to give NMM a try and this is the outcome of the first attempt. I guess I should have blended the colors but it still looks decent when on the table. Any kind of feedback is welcome! :)
  11. Alrighty... My first official WIP thread yay...... So, I today I'm supposed to be studying for a test but I decided to take a paint break. SO, I picked a figure that looked fun and stuff... For reasons that are possibly classified, (lol, inside joke...) my storm giant whom for the moment I will call Flynn (not his official name) is missing an arm. I started putting flesh on him and then a bit of NMM and then I decided on some red fabric Then just a bit more work on the NMM & hair and flesh
  12. Another member my Frostgrave warband. This time an archer. Any critiques and comments are most welcomed. Please enjoy.
  13. One I did just for fun. He was a cool model, and lots of fun to paint - just the right amount of detail. He helped in working on my NMM, and OSL and this is my 4th 'real' attempt for both. It turned out not too bad. Ugh....I just realized I need to fix up the back of the sword....
  14. Had lots of fun painting this, was supposed to be NMM gold practice for a future project. Any comments and critiques would greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi guys, first mini after a 6 month lay off. Just saw the X-men and decided to give my take on Nightcrawler. Any comments to help me improve would be much appreciated.

I posted this figure in the WIP forum to ask for critiques, and the critiques I received help me improve her a lot. Before I was really unhappy with how the figure was looking, and now I'm really happy with how she came out. I may still tweak some things, as she's for a painting competition and I still have a month to make changes. If you have any other critiques, I'd love to hear them! In order to be friendly to people on phones or other slow internet connections, especially given the large number of pics, all pictures are small compressed jpgs that link to higher-resolution, higher quality versions of the same image. The figure represents Fiona the Black, and is a conversion based on the old Fiona model and the satyxis sea witch. As always, comments, questions, and constructive criticism are welcome and encouraged!
  17. I wasn't sure whether to post this in WIP or Show Off as the paintjob is essentially done, but I'm not really happy with it and I wanted critiques so I'm posting it here. I can't really put my finger on why I'm not happy with the paintjob, but I'm not happy with it, and I'm hoping some critiques might help me figure out how to fix it. So please, don't hold back! Because of the 150k size limits on pictures, they all link to larger, higher quality pictures so you can see the detail better. Please take a look at let me know what you think could be improved.
  18. Hi folks, This is an older piece from last year, and I'm going to be shooting a video right away on NMM techniques. So, what I need from you folks, is to tell me where the weakest areas of NMM on this figure are, and what can be done to improve them. Help me make the best video I can, so there's no need to pull any punches here. Just be brutal and honest. I don't think this is one of my better pieces anyways, and was the first one I painted after a 3 year hiatus due to a back injury. I already know the base is the weakest link, but I'm looking for specifics on the NMM hammer, and the armour. It was originally painted for the CMoN 'Shades of Grey' online contest. Thanks for your help!
  19. Hi, I have strong statement to end dozen of unfished projects, here its first, from old rackham beautiful miniatures. i made two photos from greater distance and i think they are sharper
  20. Hi, I made my first pack of rakcham dwarfs (I had great luck and bought 70 units of midnor...:):):), now i have complete faction). Most fun in this project was making crystal bases. I made crystals from plasticard and pavement from gypsum. All comments are welcome:)
  21. Really like this mini and when I had primed it I thought to myself hmmm I wonder if that leather armor will work painted as metal so I gave it a shot and I think it came out quite well. So here is Arathanel painted as a drow in metal armor. Please C&c ;)
  22. Another go at NMM. Hope you like it. But if you all could find the time to critique my work, it would be very much appreciated. Cheers!
  23. So not to long ago I was looking for an online vendor who sold scale 75 paints as I wanted to try their NMM gold and the fantastic Mr uber nerd pointed me to a small company called fantization miniatures and while at their site I found they have thier own small line of minis called rusted heroes, I bought a couple and I needed a knight with a 2h war hammer and shield so I GSed a war hammer did a weapon swap and started to further practice my NMM so here goes and please comment away ;)
  24. So, I received this Awesome Evil Cleric From Silvervane for the Fall Exchange. I had asked about Non-Metallic Metal since I've never seen it up close and stuff. Well, This arrived recently and it is AWESOME! Have a Look-See! So, Awesome huh? GF
