  1. The WIP is here: A little less see-through than I'd like, but the light still passes. There is glow in the dark medium used, but it's not very effective, and would never come into play anyway.
  2. I had so much fun with my slimes I decided to do a few more translucent minis I had handy. These are the Grave Wraith and Nightspectre (somewhere else I have a Ghostly Summons 77095, Labella DeMornay 77096, and a spare Spirit 77098 that I will paint another time). I wanted to do these quickly, so it's ink mostly - the same ones as with the slimes, plus maybe a few darker phthalos. I've done a coat of glow in the dark medium for each (photographed), a coat of the not highest green, and picked out the skeletons in the nightspectre with a wash of medium and brown liner and base coated the grave wraith's sword and tombstone in a dark blue-grey. not photographed Eventually everything will get a drybrush of spectral glow (and maybe another, mixed with maggot white, in a few spots). For the nightspectre, I'm going to try and treat it as a fire and get darker going out. With the wraith, I'm going to go lighter out from the bottom centre. Plus highlights for both. The goal will be for them to be mostly translucent (and glow in the dark, because everything gets that medium). Hopefully I'll figure out how much direct light, and how much medium I need to be able to photograph this. Photos later today in subsequent posts.
  3. Now terminalmancer has received the mini's. This the first one, the bones Nightspectre. I was looking for an excuse to use the led kits I received from a kickstarter. So i made the base a bit higher and put 2 leds beneath the mini and a battery holder and switch on the bottom. The leds give a nice effect, but the camera does not like it. These are the best pictures. The plastic was a bit weird to paint on, the paint did not want to stick on some places. I am happy how it turned out.
  4. Now that my exchange partner received the mini I can show the pictures I took before sending. I have not done an undead in a long time, not something I normally go for. But that was the request so I chose the Nightspectre. The smoke gave me a good opportunity to work on my blending. Added some tombstones to the base and added two graves from Fenryll I had lying around. I am happy how it turned out.
  5. I think I have two more batches to post, so just enough to last me until Friday. I love the translucent bones, great fun to paint and super fast. Finally got around to painting up the nightspectre and I don't think my Grave Wraith has made it on here yet either, so here they are.
  6. My last 2 I think for the Fall/Halloween contest. First the Nightspectre. To retain translucency I first gave the whole figure a 'primer' coat of matte medium. When that dried, I washed/glazed the entire thing with reapers Clear green. Followed by a drybrushing of pale green. The skeletons I did in tanned skin, washed with tanned shadow and highlighted with linen white, followed by a light glaze of a mix of clear green, pale green and linen white. the dirt is intense brown, with a bit of a glaze nearest the heart, and a drybrush over top with the remaining pale green mix from the skeletons. All in all, I am pleased with how this one came out. the Ghost. I am less pleased with how he came out. Mostly a mix of sapphire blue and linen white with a touch of snow shadow added in. A reminder that I really need to work to improve my blending between layers.
