  1. Time to get the crew together, starting with the Heritor and Warden! Tonight was all about cleaning flash and mold lines, and there was a fair bit to do on both of these ladies. Also the Heritors swords were both really bent. They'll both be cut from their bases tomorrow and attached to new textured bases that all of the crew will be using. More on that tomorrow!
  2. (.. continued from here) -Mi'lady? He was a middle aged man carrying books under his arms and on a bundle slung across his shoulder. Many bobs and bits dangled on ropes attached to his body. He was out of breath and looked as if he really wanted to be somewhere else. -You must be Master Barius' apprentice. Rufus was it? -Yes Mi'lady. -Good, good.. I have urgent business with your master. Please take me to him. .... After a longbut uneventful journey they finally reached the gates of the gardens of Barius' Tower. It was a high tower made of ivory with no apparent windows or doors. -This way, Mi'lady. .... Once they were inside the tower, Finarri was surprised to find it to be much more spacious than it seemed from outside. -Magic.. she muttered under her breath, her unease increasing yet her mission urging her to go on. .... -Is that you Rufus? Have you found the tomes? All of them, yes? Spoke the old wizard without raising his head from the ancient book he was leaning on. -Ehem.. Master, you have a visitor. There was a long and unnerving silence and the old man finally raised his head and looked at Finarri as if realizing she was there for the first time. -Hmm.. so it seems we have a visitor Rufus. Why haven't you told me before? -But I ... oh nevermind. This is Lady Finarri from the High Temple, master. She is a.. -A Paladin, yes, yes.. I can.. feel it.. So, Lady Paladin.. what brings you to my Tower? ...... Well, having been bitten by the Frostgrave bug it seems that I have evolved from boardgaming to the wargaming episode of my life. I have started by getting and painting my wizard and apprentice to some semblance of a tabletop quality.. Well, said too much already. Thanks for looking and C&C is always appreciated.
  3. I needed a female human archer to complete my new Frostgrave warband, so I thought I'd see if I could make one using the pieces from the North Star plastic Frostgrave soldiers set. While I've heard it said that since the clothing on these figures is so bulky that any of them could be used as women, since the figure's shape wouldn't show through all the clothing layers anyway, I like it when figures that are supposed to be female actually look like a woman. I didn't want to just sculpt breasts on one of the existing figures either, as I'm not a very good sculptor. So I thought about where I could find a female torso to use; and turned to either the Wargames Factory Amazon set, or Female Zombie set. I didn't think the armor on the Amazons looked right for Frostgrave, so I selected one of the female zombie bodies from a spare sprue I had. I cut the the female zombie in half at the waist, and then cut one of the Frostgrave soldier bodies in half as well. I then glued the top of the zombie to the bottom of the Frostgrave soldier. There is a significant size difference in the two waists, so my plan was to hide this shortfall with some of the many accessories that come with the Frostgrave Soldier set. I added a head from the female zombie set, and then arms from the Frostgrave Soldier set. I needed to trim the upper arms a little as the shoulder areas on the female zombie torso are a bit smaller than the shoulder areas on the Frostgrave Soldier arms. In the end, the bulky arms help hide the narrowness of the waist. I glued a backpack to her back, and a quiver on her front hip to aid in hiding the smaller waist.
  4. Armoured Skeletons (FGV314) by North Star Part of the Thaw of the Lich Lord campaign for FROSTGRAVE Table Top Quality _________________________________________________________________ Your intrepid warband marches confidently on the outskirts of the frozen city. After a long campaign clearing out the area your brave band of soldiers are ready to pursue deeper in to the white laden ruins. The cold wind, although bitter, has become manageable for your warband. Swiftly the winds begin to rush in from the inner part of the frozen Acropolis, deathly cold. Visibility is no more than twenty to thirty feet in front. Ahead you can see the white and grey haze of snow concealing the ruins. Your captain shouts, "halt" as the warband freezes in it's tracks. A slight sound of creaking then the dull murmur of metal sliding across stone and ice. The sound echos through the winds shaking your men to their cores. Slowly but suddenly a troop of skeletons flanked by two heavily armoured skeletons appear in the distance. It's just as you feared... _________________________________________________________________ -=The idea was to make them look like they are slowly marching out of the snow blind. It's so cold snow is sticking to them. =- -= The snow flocking turned out better than I expected. I copied the techniques of some fellow Frostgrave players here on the forums and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Although with these it's hard to see but some other Frostgrave miniatures (which you'll see later) It turned out excellently. =- -=This has been an entire painting season for me. LOTS of wargaming stuff and it is all finished around now. I hope you guys like it.=-
  5. This weekend I finished up my Chronomancer warband for Frostgrave. I've been working on this off and on since last October, and finally finished painting the last figure on Friday. I wanted to assemble a band that looked like they had been brought together from throughout time; or had been to different time periods, and brought back souvenirs. I did some customization to a few of the figures to get that Frostgrave-meets-other-time periods look I wanted. I'm very happy with how this group turned out, and I'm looking forward to get a chance to use them in a game! First up is the Chronomancer and Apprentice. These are both modified Reaper Bones figures. Next is the party's Templar, "Crossbowman", and Man-at-Arms. The Templar is made up mainly of GW Space Marine parts, the "Crossbowman" is a plastic French soldier (unsure of manufacturer), and the Roman is from Foundry. Note, that the Foundry figure was so short compared to the other figures in the warband, I had to base him up on a sheet of cork to make the size difference less noticeable. We then have a Thief, and two Thugs. The Thief is a Reaper metal Ninja figure, and the two Thugs are from the North Star plastic Frostgrave soldier set with the additions of different heads. Lastly, we have the group's War-Hound. This figure is from Eureka, and is just filling in as a proxy (probably; unless I end up liking him as part of the group too much ) until I get the guard dog figure from the Reaper Bones III Kickstarter this Fall. And here's a look at the whole gang together:
