Fun with OSL! I normally don't take dark photos because I like to see the work, and sometimes dark photos just look like a blob of color to me. I wanted to included them here, though, because when lit like this, you can really see the contrast that I tried to convey in this model. I've been working on all kinds of stuff lately, and contrast is the glue that binds all of those skills together.

About to takeoff for Rio on business so I don’t have the Reaper #, but wanted to post my latest attempt at object source lighting anyway. Took pics at different light distances in the direction I was going for. I’m very new to this so comments and criticisms are very welcome. Thanks for looking, and have a great day! Redd Ok sorry for the horrible photos. Here are the originals again. They wouldn’t download from iCloud so it posted an extremely low fidelity pic. I read the photography post on here as suggested and I’ll try my hand at the techniques on there tomorrow and repost. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and have a great day. Still crappy pics. Tomorrow is another day.... Ok, these are still not great, as I only had light from 1 direction. Getting another clamp light today. All criticisms welcome, and sorry again for all the ridiculousness. So I've gotten into OSL and I wanted to find some MUCH brighter paints and I've always wanted them. So what do you guys prefer? Any recommendation? My search has only included those from Reaper: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Bright

Njorn Thugs by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Here we have the Thugs from the Njorn character set. I really liked painting these guys. Very dynamic and interested. They had a wide variety in their weapons and poses. Continuing with my new Object Source Lighting (OSL) I painted up a solider with a torch in his hand. It turned out much better than I had thought I was going to do. Additionally, I did a blue glaze on the spearmans metallic's to get a more realistic look. First time I've really done that too. To me... It looks pretty good. I will probably try it out on all of my weapons and armors again. That's about it. I hope you enjoy this. Thank you for stopping by. Click the image to see it a bit larger. :) Close up of the Torch guy solider.

Ejrvindr the Far Seeing by Red-Box-Games Sculpted by Tre Manor This guy was particularly fun to paint as I thoroughly enjoy doing leather. His clock was a labor of love. It did turn out to be "leather" but the browns look really nice. I also tried doing a bottle with liquid in it. Didn't turn out how I wanted but it's good enough for tabletop standard. In need find some tutorials on how to paint containers with liquid in them. I had sculpted the base myself - which you will find I do that with everything. The base is the OSL that is projecting up and on to him. Additionally, you'll notice on this series of miniatures I put Nordic runes on some of the miniatures. You can see that here on Ejrvindr on the scabbard of his dagger. Thank you all, Enjoy!

Wise Frodulf by Red-Box-Games Sculpted by Tre Manor Here is my rendition of Frodulf. He goes a long with my warband color scheme. This OSL (Object Source lighting) is one of three real steps into the technique. I am happy with the way it turned out. I used an small handheld LED to check lighting for the sword. I kind of broke the rule about the rest of the model being darker for OSL but I wanted him to stand out on the battle field. My free hand work seems to be getting better too with the triangle pattern on him as well. And finally, I sculpted the bricks myself out of greenstuff. I really hope you guys like him.

Ok, I was looking at my Fire demon and something about it, as cool as it was, felt /off/ to me. After thinking about it, and looking at some other threads, I realized what the problem was. The flames didn't look to be producing any light! A little work later, and here is the Fire demon again, now with what I hope works as object sourced lighting.. I think that's what the effect's called! C&C's as always greatly appreciated.

Zed, the Gnome Bard Extraordinaire! He has the gift of gab,and a quick wit! If he can't talk his way out of trouble, a quick illusion or two, and POOF! he's gone like the wind! This was my first real attempt at OSL. Overall, I think it came out pretty good. Obviously I have some work to do on getting right. However, when I sent the WIP pick to my buddy I was painting it for, he flipped! He thought it was amazing, so I decided to call it. In the picture, I can see where I may have lightened it a little too much. I am still happy with the way he turned out, being my first real attempt at something like this. I hope you enjoy him as much as I did painting him! I give you, Corim Kestrel as ZED THE EXTRAORDINAIRE!! And as always, CC is welcomed and appreciated! CAH
