  1. So here they are. The Ogre Squad. You can see the WIP here. I love how nonchalant and casual this guy looks. especially when compared to this guy. The oldest of my ogres. Metal and unfinished for years because I was just never happy with him. another angry ogre fond of the face(s) on this guy and also the pig. The rope on the barrel was a little frustrating though. It had a mold line right down its length and even though I wasn't doing much line cleaning for these guys that was both a hard one to fix and a hard one to
  2. I don't do WIP's very often and I'm well into a couple of these guys. But I added a couple more as I started to base the first few so I figured I might as well. Maybe it will help me keep my focus. We have the 3 bones ogres from a kickstarter or two ago, the bones black preview ogre, metal Kagunk 2, and the bones 4 ettin. I may decide to add metal ogre chieftain (aka kagunk 1) as well as he is half finied on the shelf anyway, and metal Norr'Okk, if I can ever figure out what to do about his head. Also considering ordering the newer ogre chieftain, but we will see.
  3. Going a little ambitious here as I've never tried doing this many multiples at once. 3 different old school army sets from the 80s and 90s. From front to back we have Grenadier's Orcs of the Severed Hand, Grenadier's Ogres of the East, and some of Ral Partha's Gargantuan Orcz. The last group is not a complete set, but random picks I got from Iron Winds Metal. Though they're called gargantuan, they're not so much nowadays as can be seen when you compare them to a Bones orc. Also, as they're random picks, some of them don't have all their parts, like t
  4. Decided to work on alternate skin tones for a pair of ogres; the blue one is designed to be some kind of ice ogre variant though he did come out a bit bluer than I had originally planned. The wyvern, I was really excited to discover, has a fallen statue as part of it's base! I used it in my dnd game and it successfully predated one of my PCs who had wandered off alone. The Black Pudding was also used in my game and did some damage to the players' ship hull. The Blacktooth Terror made his way into my game pursuing the characters through the jungle. I opted
  5. My time has been limited as of late, so when I get to paint I tend to overwhelm myself a bit. Lots of progress but nothing finished!
  6. The Ogre Matriarch was one of the Bones 3 minis I planned in getting at retail. I had already traded away the core set Ogres as I felt I had enough from Warhammer, but seeing them all together at the shop changed my mind! Unfortunately they were out of the Smasher.
  7. Got the ogres and ogre command in Bones 3 and decided to paint them all up at once so that they'd match. I call the regular ogres Huey, Dewey, and Louie due to their colors (I find a clear color delineation makes it easier to track them during games) and I really like the floral pattern on the green bags, like he just scrounged them up from someone else. The command figures were fun, creating all the mismatched plates on the warrior. I decided that the ogre "sorceress" should be "hot" so I painted her up in a tartan mini skirt and semi transparent white shirt, as well as putting her "purse gob
  8. I need help sorting out some minis to use use in the Warlord tournament at ReaperCon. I just know that in my mountain of unpainted lead there is at least one Warlord army. I know I will need to use some proxy models and that those need to be other Reaper Minis. The problem is in some cases I am no longer certain whether some of these guys are a Reaper model or OMM. I could use some help with identification of the minis in the pics that follow: The army I have the most (authentic Warlord) figs for is Reven. Some of the winged guys above are candidates to prox
  9. Hey all, I thought I'd start a thread to share some of the other things that I have been painting. I started painting models around 25 years ago, mostly to be used for D&D. In the late 90s, though, I got introduced to Warhammer. I eventually painted up three big armies (Empire, Ogres, and Undead) but it was pirates and the nautical theme that really grabbed me. I am working on six smallish armies of Warhammer or Age of Sigmar, but I have also added lots of terrain and other models from Reaper. Here is a quick pic of a bunch of the models and terrain. I can go into more details late
  10. This is my ReaperCon 2015 entry into the Diorama category. I called it "Faithful Stand" and the idea came about when I first saw the praying paladin. It evoked in me an image of him praying to his god or goddess and something bad sneaking up behind him. I then saw the Reaper Artist Con's Ogres and knew that they were what was needed to put this diorama from my mind into reality. The Grey Maiden was the prefect figure for my idea of a statue of the paladin's goddess. Having got caught up in a pretty big funk for a while, I didn't start this project until about 10 days before ReaperCon was
  11. So I'm going to attempt to pull off a feat of craziness here. I'm planning on a 5-figure diorama that I started last night and trying to finish in time for ReaperCon. The figures are as follows: 3 Ogres (Tom, Dick, & Harry from the Reaper Artists Con) - 03710 03711 03712 Praying Paladin - 03600 Grey Maiden - 60025 Photo of Tom, Dick, and Harry (the three to the right) courtesy of hungerfan's post while he was at the RAC: Anyhow, here's my idea that came to me when I saw them: The praying paladin is kneeling before a broken temple to his Goddess (the Grey Maiden figure
  12. I've been running a Pathfinder game for a while now and I have a rather complex plot situation coming up and I'd like some advice on how best to set it up so that the players are most likely to encounter all the pieces of this puzzle. Several of the players are ones I've never really DM'd for and one is entirely new to tabletop roleplaying in general. So I have trouble predicting what they might do and where they might go and in what order. (My old group I had this down pretty good) So far I'm going to have them arrive in town where they will likely notice that everyone isn't
  13. I'm building an Ogre army for Mantic Games' Kings of War, since pictures of it in play seem to give off an old-school Warhammer 3rd Edition vibe in a lot of ways, and the game allows pretty free proxying of models, so you can use whatever you like and feel is cool. I put together and painted a couple of units of Mantic's new Ogre Shooter models recently. The main reason I started Ogres though, was to have a reason/excuse to get out my classic Citadel Ogre models that I'd just painted for the pleasure of it. All of them painted between 10 and 23 years ago. I've also got several that are sti
  14. I've just finished these today (excepting varnish and then the bases, they need tufts and weathering powder yet). Got them in the KS, nice models by Remy but not the most enjoyable painting experience (a slog, rather). Very glad to have them finished. Far less glad to need to do another six of them... More pics on my blog (linked from my sig) along with my issues with the sculpts and some WIP for those who are interested in that sort of thing.
  15. I am about to start work/painting on these (2) ogre figures...but have lost all data on them. Anyone out there who can identify these for me...please do so. They are circa 1991 and came in a blister pack...but I do not know who released them or their SKU numbers. Thank you for your help!
