Here's a fun and simple one for you this week! Owlbears are one of my favorite D&D creatures. They're just such a silly concept and I love them. Any scenario were I could use a bear, I swap out for one of these guys instead. However, despite owning several different owlbear models, I have avoided painting them for a long time out of fear of ruining them. Finally decided to give one a shot. Reaper Bones 4: Lowland Owlbear (77674) More Photos Below What kind of Owls should I use as inspiration next? What mini did you put off painting for too long?

Here is the owlbear from Bones IV - it will do. I was going for the Eurasian Pygmy Owl, being as it's a small owlbear....

So, I recently purchased the "Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments Monsters Paint Set". Came with a bunch of Army Painter washes and paints and yadda yadda yadda... But it also came with this neat Owlbear mini, which is what I have to share with you guys today! First eyes I ever successfully painted. But in my defense, I'd only ever tried on minis with smallish eyes, which was NOT the brightest idea I'd ever had. The left eye turned out really good in my opinion, but the right one was a bit messy. I also need to do so me touch-up work on the base. I got a bit careless with the wash, and uh... Yeeeeah. Lastly and leastly, I didn't upload an outdoor picture as I usually do. That'll probably come later, provided I don't forget.

Doing the Young Owlbear made me want to do this old one as well. This owlbear is the O.G. owlbear off the very first of the Reaper Bones kickstarters. It always was a bit weird and extra insane looking, quite different from other owlbears I have seen. Also it was droopy and askew on it's base. I drilled into the leg from under the base and inserted a long rod to keep it stiff and keeping the talons off the ground. Straightened that c***er out,. Far too much as it turned out. So I glued the original base to the new one at an angle. Maybe the angle should have been even steeper as it is a bit up in the air. At any rate, insane-looking owlbear = joker = clown = parrot. Time to break out the Napoleonic colours. It's pining for the fjords! Beautiful plumage, esquire! Polly wanna Cracker! 77156 Owlbear Bones 1 Core set, 2012 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Jason Wiebe Made in Bonesium PVC 50mm base. available from reapermini.com

One of my favorite monsters out of the D&D-sphere is the Beholder Owlbear. I mean. Half owl, half bear. all insane murder monster screaming though the woods looking like a fluffy snugglebunny. Free Hugs! In the Bones 4 core set, there was what I presume must be a juvenile fledgling, chick or cub (what would the term be?) It looks a bit small and scraggly and has what seems to be underdeveloped wingarms, especially when compared to other Owlbears by Reaper. #6 Owlbear: So I painted it as a Great Horned Owl's fledgling, which in general are lighter in colouration until their chick-down falls off during moulting. I have some larger owlbears that will be this one's parents. When I get around to painting them that is. You said there would be hot chicks here! This is not what I thought you meant! #6 Owlbear Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures unknown sculptor Made in Bonesium PVC 40mm base. should be available from reapermini.com some time in the future in Bones.

Hey all! Here's a quick speedpaint from this evening. It was a two hour deal, from prime to varnish. The only thing that I did yesterday was assembly.

Here is my Owlbear promo from Bones Black. It was a lot of fun to paint! As an aside, does anyone know if this can still be purchased through Reaper? I can't find it on the site anymore... :(

Hello everyone, So I finally took the plunge to post here, so please accept my take on the Owlbear from the Reaper Black series. All comments or remarks are welcome! Many greetings, Philip *EDIT : added additional photographs.

Compared to the Bones Black owlbear, this guy was pretty puny. With fewer feathers. And odd spines. And skinny! Who ever heard of a skinny bear? Then it hit me. This is a juvenile. It's an owlcub! Or is it an owletbear? The spines aren't spines, they're pinfeathers. Fluffy owletbear covered in gray down feathers. With a downy belly and fully feathered mask Based off of pictures of barn owlets because those things look horrifying

Like a number of you I picked up one of the new owlbears to see what the Bones Black material was all about. Given the local weather I decided to paint it up as one of those mythic polar owlbears you occasionally see wandering around.
-
I finally finished my owlbear...just in time to go pick up the new rock troll from the mailbox, lol. I enjoyed painting the Black, though I still prefer metal; to me, this is a nice middle ground between Bones plastic and white metal. I didn't prime, though I washed it really well and airbrushed the base coats.

Just finished this for my sister! Hope it arrives close ish to Christmas but at least it's finally done - only been planning it since last year or so. These are the Darksword minis Owlbear and cubs, as my sissy has two kids, and we joke a lot about going all momma bear, I thought this would be perfect for her :D She's also a hunter so a woodland scene is right up her alley. Not my best job tbh, I'm pleased it came out ok but was hoping to get more detail etc in. I'd wanted to make the trees but no time =/ Better to get it done than sit on it another year. It's in a softball display case, on a wood base I picked up at Michaels. So no need to dust!
-
So i'm just starting these guys, but how do you think the cubs should be arranged? Just the sitting one? The sitting one with the standing one behind it? or the sitting one with the standing one in front of it?

So, I'm a part of a Bi-Monthly Twitter Secret Santa'like Exchange called #BoxofManyThings! I'm doing Miniatures for both of the organizers of it and this is one of them. The individual in question goes by the Handle, owlbare on twitter and uses a Purple Owlbear as his Avatar. So I chose to do up a Cute little Owlbear for him in his signature Colors. These are actually his photos since I forgot to take any! Anywho, hope you enjoy:) GF

So, I'm getting close to finishing up this Project. Also, my olde thread for this was from before the Great PhotoBucket Fiasco. So I'm redoing this thread using my new Imgur account! Behold my Bad Paint Jobs and Despair!! Or Not;) First up the Ani-Pals! Dog I Dog III Dog IV Bare the Bear Companion Dawg the Ranger, "Leader" of the Ani-Pals! Sting the Pixie Rogue! Salle Goblin Sorceress! Kildrick the Dwarven Cleric! Gonna post the rest in the next post so I don't hit Image Max Limits. GF

So I've been pretty busy with work and other things and haven't had a chance to paint much lately. Got this guy as a gift from a friend and painted it up a couple of weeks ago. Pretty happy how everything turned out especially the eyes. I used some owl pictures for reference. Though usually their beaks are a dark grey, I wanted this to stand out a little more. Thanks for looking!
