Finished her up the other night. She's been on my desk for years, part of a batch of anthropomorphs I started and didn't quite finish. Yes, the colors are that bright. She has a ton of detail in her clothing but the body is kind of bland, so I went with brighter colors for interest.

My partner this time around was Aard who, in the usual forum fashion, had very broad wishes that in the end was narrowed down to rangers w/cloaks. So I ordered an assortment of rangers and started painting one. Then I opened one of the potential gifts and painted it too, so one less gift one more painted mini. The first ranger is very green, so we'll call her the spring ranger, while the other is dressed in the latest fall fashion - the autumn ranger. Also, bonus panther animal companion.

For my Broken Gods D&D game, I've painted up all the figures for my group and am now getting around to painting up their mounts and animal companions. First off we have Bagheera, the Panther based off artwork in the spoiler. Bagheera is the animal companion of the party's monk/ranger and normally it is a standard medium-sized panther that he can use to fight along side him, but the panther can grow into this large mount when needed. Next is the Golden Lion, the mount of the party's bard, based on the artwork below: Next is the Nightmare for the party's warlock, based on the artwork below: I painted up the standard medium sized panther to use when it is needed. The monk/ranger also gained a (perhaps) temporary follower in "Jim the Brown Bear" which I also decided to paint up for this adventure and future adventures as a companion or just standard bear. All of these are painted up tabletop to tabletop+ standards. I didn't want to put too much work into them as they are just meant to be on the tabletop and not to be put into any contests. Larger panther and the lion are the lioness and lion from Bones 3. The smaller panther and the brown bear are bones animal companions. The Nightmare is from one of Tre's kickstarters. It has a barbarian that goes on the saddles, which of course I omitted here and I'll either toss the barbarian in the BOGW or put him in the melt bin at ReaperCon now that he's not really needed and I covered the hole in the saddle where he would normally attach. There's one missing mount, a silver and black fox that I may also paint up for the 4th member of the group. She paints minis too, so I'm thinking I'll give her a wolf figure that looks very foxlike to have her do it herself especially since I have so many other projects I need to finish up on this month. Anyhow, C&C are welcomed and appreciated! EDIT!! Adding more pics of the figures in more close-up shots for each one.

Today, I'm not feeling working on my main ReaperCon project for the diorama so I figured to stay productive and still do something I'll go ahead and start a WIP thread for some tabletop to tabletop+ painted figures of mounts and/or animal companions for the characters in my D&D game. First off I'm doing these three bones figures: animal companion brown bear (Jim), animal companion black panther (Alex), and Phantasmal blue panther mount (Bagheera). These are for the monk/ranger character in my D&D 'Broken Gods' game. I will use some green stuff to even out and blend into the bones broccoli bases, the bigger panther will get a green stuff made saddle and harness. After I'm done with these three: I will paint up a golden lion (the companion to the panther figure from bones 3 I believe) Find a fox figure big enough to be a mount - will need to be about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. Acquire a nightmare figure for a mount or modify a horse or unicorn

These are a couple of the animal companion sets that I painted for one of my players (minus the spider which I have not finished yet). I didn't want to paint the cat like a plain panther and I decided to use an ocelot as inspiration. My favorite is the little wolverine guy even though the photos make the river rocks look like pastel M&M's lol. My usual background got ruined so I have to make do until I get a new one printed or buy a fancy one. The bear looks better in hand and I used blacks and browns in his fur so he doesn't look so flat as he does in the photos. I am not happy with the fake snow and how it turned out. It looked really good when I put it on but not so good once the glue dried. I guess next time I will try baking soda and see how that works out. These are for gaming though so baking soda wouldn't have been the best choice probably. Anyway, here they are! C&C welcome.

Greetings! I've just finished this Ral Partha oldie from my collection - ES54 Winged Panther. I went for a naturalistic black panther look but with a bluish sheen to the highlights (a bit like you sometimes see in movies as they're prowling through the jungle!). The wing skin recesses are actually a really dark red/brown but you can't exactly see it on these pics. Interestingly, the blue highlights seemed a lot bluer after I added the static grass to the base. Thanks for looking!

I finally have six fighting CAV armies - some more fight-y than others. Some have enough models with enough variety to meet diverse challenges, and some are just barely legal if you squint right. Case in point? Here's my newly painted Ritterlich army! Notice a complete lack of infantry, aircraft, fighting vehicles, transports, and for that matter, primary squads.* But recon and artillery? Got that *covered*! Anyway, here's a glimpse of my boys in blue. They won't see much growth until next year when CAV KS II gets here, but they will see play because, hey, rhinos right? * As-is, I could only build two legal attack squads, both of which revolve around a rhino and a cataphract with either a recon model or a fire support model to get it up to a full squad of 4. Truth be told, I'm honestly thinking I'll re-purpose some of these cougars as Cougar IIs - something between a Cougar and a Jaguar, just for the sake of variety.

After we started the Rise of the Runelords PbP here, I found myself on a mission. I created a catfolk character, Kehrgl (only later would I reflect on the closeness to a certain kind of exercise, LoL, and then decide to keep the name anyway), and I wanted a mini to suit her. And holy crap--catfolk minis are a job to come by. Ones that fit the bill, at least. Luckily, someone directed me to the Panthera Tribe in the 100 Kingdoms game, by Black Orc Games. And there I found some pretty cool cat-people minis. And go figure! Apparently sculpted by Sandra Garrity. Of course I'd like them. I think it's a really nice mini, beyond being simply leaps and bounds by most of the catfolk-types I's finding. I had quite a bit of fun with her, though she was exceedingly simple. Kind of felt my way into the purple--didn't want blue, but still wanted it to feel warm to me (but also cool, I guess; whatever). Decided to put her on a base from Micro Arts Studio. Tried a little vine action with some stuff I got; I swear it doesn't look as much like chopped broccoli irl. I'm pretty pleased with her, all in all. Thanks for looking!

One of my players is playing a Rakashan in my Savage Worlds game. They're basically a cat people race they tossed into the core rulebook so they wouldn't be stuck with just elves, dwarves, humans and half-orcs. When I got a box for the Khaliman Republic faction in Alkemy, I had the perfect mini for his character. Meet Khaja. The fur went from pure black to walnut brown to rainy gray. I think it helps break up the pure neutrals with a little warmth. Basing was done with one of the Basius basing pads (Ruined Imperial Highway) with an etched brass vine added in from a GW basing kit. You can see a bit of fingerprint there in the back. I should have let it cure completely before starting to mess with it, but hindsight is 20/20. I painted most of the figure first, before attaching his sheathed dagger and tail. Otherwise, it would have been too much of a pain trying to get to the details under them. Tried for a bit of a gem effect on the sword. Didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but it's still better than a pure blue would've looked. Something to improve on.
