  1. First, my apologies - I just cannot get a good picture these days! I would welcome tips but to be fair (#letterkenny) I'm not sure how much time I want to sink into photography what with my ten thousand other hobbies (mini painting chief among them, so...). This is my adventuring party, the Unicorn Chasers. We have been playing together for just over two years in this campaign running through all the adventures in "Tales from the Yawning Portal." We all play online because we're scattered across the country. That means, in case you're wondering, these minis are 100% unnecessary...but this group has come to mean so much to me during quarantine and COVID and everything else that I've probably become a little obsessed. Regardless, I took the best pictures I could and the display diorama I built for them. 99% reaper paints, but so many different colors I have no idea what's what. I can tell you there are a variety of flesh triads, most if not all weapons are the "natural steel triad" and any golds are the gold toned metal triad. Minis are: 02621 Laurana, Sorceress (Willow, Human Sorceress) 02667 Halfling Wizard (Bilzivur, the Gnome) 03010 Silas, Male Cleric (Wilster, the Cleric) - Plus 77730 Bones Mega Weapon Pack for shield 03647 Drago Voss, Assassin (Erikk, the Rogue) - Plus 77730 Bones Mega Weapon Pack for Bow 03836 Jakob Janssen, Monk (Monad, the Monk) 14005 Lord Ironraven (Joarin, the Paladin) 60174 Jirelle, Iconic Swashbuckler (Miriana Cooperson, the Bard [My character]) - Plus 03032 Musical Instruments (12) - Plus a shield from what I *thought* was Stern Kestrelman but apparently is not...it's a cleric with a big two-handed sword and he looks like he can't barely lift it. 02812 Kallista, Female Mercenary (Hilda, the Fighter) - Plus 77730 Bones Mega Weapon Pack for shield Base is a 5x7 trophy base found on Ebay, plus pink insulation foam and 1/4" foamcore middles for the dungeon floor. Textured with a knife, a pencil, a ball of tinfoil, and some basing sand. Background minis: a GW skeleton to represent an old dungeon casualty (same source for the filthy penant) and our old friend 77730 for the skull & crown shield on the wall. All told a couple weeks of work. Hard to say because it's not like this is a job where I'm punching a clock. Anyhow, hope you all like this! The usual caveat and asterisk chain of "pictures don't do it justice" should be implied. Please take my bad photographing of these lovely minis with a big grain of salt. I'll try to do better pics in the future if I luck into some actual photography skill!
  2. Hello again! I'm back with an assortment of Bones that are serving as my Rangers of Shadow Deep solo party. Decided I wanted a classic fantasy look, but didn't want to fall into the cliched green cloak look. With that stipulation, I settled on a more autumnal color palette, and tried to keep this aesthetic across the entire party, without anyone looking like they were wearing matching uniforms. I'm pretty pleased with the results and I tried to push myself with each mini. What do you think? More Photos and Thoughts Beneath the Spoiler: I have only played a few scenarios of Rangers of Shadow Deep, and I'm honestly not sold on the whole solo-game thing. But if the game has done anything for me, it has given me motivation to paint more and has given purpose to some of the things I already have painted. I already ordered some extra gnolls and ghouls to meet the required numbers and will likely be showing off some monsters soon. Which character do you like best? What games have motivated you to paint those piles of shame? Feel free to share your own photos!
  3. Hello everyone! Last week, I posted pictures of one of the two D&D adventuring parties I am DMing (http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/81365-my-dnd-adventure-group/). These were minis I painted about a year ago. As there is a second party, I wanted to post some pictures of it as well. I painted the second batch of minis quite recently, I hope you like them. Here they are : "60071: Eccardian Drovenge" is Alrune, a Tiefling druid who was raised by Ents. Taking a step back from it, I think tha the blue wasn't the best choice, I should probably have gone for brown on those blue parts. I love the mini but with all those little details it was quite a challenge to paint : "03828: Crusader Champion (Sword and Shield)" is Guy Saint-Hubert, a human butter maker who decided to become a paladin of the goddess of death, justice and night to avenge his family : "03476: Kasham, Reptus Wizard" is Kigozaloph Jeanpatrine, a Silver Dragonborn necromancer. I was worried about the metallic paint to make his skin, but i'm happy with the result : "14567: BSG Hok Sergeant" is Miroslav Bulldosex (sigh), a Halfling fishmonger who decided to quit the civilisation and chose a barbarian life. All the pink marks on his skin are supposed to be scars but I didn't manage to make it obvious : "14553: Arthrand Nightblade, Wood Elf Sergeant" is Polodriell, an Elf ex-soldier. He lived in a jungle, that's why his arrows are made with parrot feathers. I couldn't manage to make his eyes look good because of the cloak :
  4. So, I have a whole bunch of Reaper heroes to show off. Is it against the rules if I don't look up the number on every one of them for posting? . And then there was one that was topless (with purple skin).
  5. So, in this thread I'm documenting my progress at Painting and Modifying a bunch of Minis for the D&D Actual Play Podcast The Misadventures of Max's Minions to represent all of the PCs in it, Past, Present and Future! Several of these are Reaper minis this time around. The Podcast can be found here if you are interested... http://maxsminions.com/ The PCs and their Mini-Minions so far... Sting the Pixie Rogue Dog the Beastmaster Ranger(And his Badly made "Kord Hat".) Salle the Goblin Sorceress? Kildrick the Dwaren Cleric of "The First Church of Kildrick the Navel-less" Stasi Xen the Human Fighter Dana Toren the Eladrin Warlord Most of these are in the earliest stage of work in progress. I thought I might as well chronicle this progress somewhere, so I decided on here. Hopefully, I can get a bit of help and support as I endeavor to complete this project. I already know I need a lot of Luck for this. I'm not gonna ask for anyone to give any of your luck for this. Just asking for a bit of Support and maybe a bit of advice. GF
  6. I could not find a thread for showing off Halloween costumes, so I figured I'd show mine, maybe someone wants to show me theirs.. :D We started cooking some good food: Invited some nice company: And went out to paint the town red: Overall, I was very pleased with how I managed to lay the makeup on us both, although I only got second place in the local competition.
  7. Here's our party of Iron Kingdoms adventurers that I've converted. FIrst off- this is our Ogrun Artillerist/Alchemist. The main body of him was made from a Reaper Bones Orc, and the cannon is made from a GW missile. This is Lug- our Mighty Gobber Man-at-arms/Duelist. It is pretty nice having a little gobber for our tank. He was made from a Bones female dwarf- sword hand is from Mordheim, and the head and breastplate are just green stuff. This last one is our Priest of Cyrris/Arcanist. He also dabbles in alchemy. Also a bones mini with less sculpting than the other two- I altered his ears and hair to make him look more human, then gave him a cool tuning kit instead of the dagger he had in his hand originally.
  8. So I'm having a Dnd theme mixer for my DND 5e players and there partners this Thursday and I was hoping for some ideas. It will be a session 0 which has a few new faces to dnd and rpg'ing generally. I'm great friends with these people and there partners so talking "shop" is not only fine it's expected. I made all the chars for the party from the basic rule set and they seem very close with the pregen chars (except way less equipment). I had a few ideas. -if u dress up as your character you are rewarded extra items to start with your char (trinkets, adventuring gear(which they have little) maybe even a short sword!) -for really earlier arrivers put on the episode of community that they play dnd s02e14 so they get a basic understanding -go over what they think the game is , how to play and go over a few combat rules etc -show the minis I painted for them! Woot woot -have appys and possibly make piña coladas :) What's some fun DND /RPGs stuff I could go over? Maybe call each other by there game name ?(drink if u don't!?)
