A different take on my second frost giant queen and I tried out some freehand on her skirt and cloak. I wasn't able to take Brice Cocanour's class at RVE but I was able to watch it on youtube and took his technique and tried out my own designs Edit: Forgot to mention she is my trio entry with @Evilhalfling and @Kuroneko. .

Vancouver Miniature Painters picked this for the first paint club item. It is Queen by Life Miniatures. I wanted to do more with it, and ended up doing the face and skin early.... then rushing the rest. All things considered, she turned out darn nice! Painted with a mix of Reaper, Vallejo, and Kimera. Reaper and Vallejo more on the skin and metal, Kimera more on the cloth. Many thanks to the paint club leader for good photos!

With the Bohemian Rhapsody movie being such a succes and knowing a lot of forumites like Queen's music, I was wondering what you would consider to be good covers of Queen's music. We all know the original which can't be beaten of course. But the music lives on, and as a tribute many bands covered Queen. What do you think to be a good cover? More than one answer is possible. I thought this might be fun. So here I go: Lords of Black - Innuendo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_X5uL_y0N8

Bonny Ann Pirate Queen Bust By Glitterwolf
Glitterwolf posted a topic in Works in Progress: Painting
A while ago I had a poll to vote which bust I would paint next. This was the winner. So we better get started ( ok I'm also painting my Brutus Bust but she was first) She has many options, ( with or without hat, with or without a parrot, and with a shirt or topless) I'm going for full options. Trying to make the shirt somewhat sheer. OMG...I never done that! Wish me luck!- 116 replies

Hi there, a general question, is there any idea when the Frost Giant queen from the last round of Bones Kickstarter is going to be released to the public? One of the coolest minis from that last Kickstarter. Thanks!

This was a diorama entry in the Crystal Brush competition at Adepticon last month. (The Adepticon 2018 picture thread is here, new images still being added.) Does anyone recognize the spider-centaur queen figure at the top? Someone asked me what mini it was and I couldn’t answer.

Howdy all, Dmagamus here. Sat down yesterday and painted this lovely lady up in one long sitting. If you'll allow me a moment to gush, I wrapped up a campaign last night that has spanned from level 1 to 20 and lasted nearly 3 years. I need a giant spellcaster for the final fight, and I wanted it to look pretty good, so I put a pretty fair amount of time into it. I think it came out pretty well.

Long time lurker, second time poster, first time upload. Here is the Frost Giant Queen from the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter for your consideration. I was unable to participate in the Bones 3 Kickstarter as I came upon these Bones figures late in the game. However, the participants who were able placed their unwanted miniatures up on eBay, so I took advantage of opportunity when presented. I focused on Color Theory and Texture on this piece as she provided a very large palette to paint upon. These Giants provided me practice in sketching too, which makes the entire line appealing to me. Side note: Gratitude to those who did place these minis up on eBay without jacking up the prices. I was able to purchase the both Frost Giant Royalty around cost of what Reaper will sell them at Retail. This certainly displays an ethos in the Reaper community that makes this community stand out among others. Further, having lurked for awhile: the community here is quite kind and helpful. This is a good community of miniature painters. I like the Bones miniature range. The detail on this miniature was very close to what I expect from the metal range, and I will purchase more of the Bones range in the future. I am looking forward to the resculpt of Vanya, the Fire Giant Princess, and her new size to match the Fire Giants in D&D. The attire of this miniature is akin to the Viking attire of old, and I found my SCA ventures to assist me in painting this Viking Apron and embellishments. The sculptor did an outstanding job and I look forward to more of their work. The FAQs were an asset that made my first foray into Bones an easier one. I had difficulty with flash lines until I picked up some diamond files, which handled them quite well without marring detail like my serrated files. The bent pieces were fixed with some boiling water and cold water quite easily. The pieces fit together like a glove, though I admit I still pinned them. (My OCD was tingling.) I did use Krylon as Primer, and the tackiness disappeared after the first coat of paint. She was sealed only with Krylon Dull Cote and exhibits no tackiness. She has been handled and there is no rubbing off of paint. I like how her base was round, though I am ignorant of what would be an appropriate Reaper base to place this inside of. (I currently have the King on a GW Dreadnought base, and I do not like it. If anyone reads this and has a recommendation, I surely would appreciate it.) This Bones line of miniatures has proven to me to be a Good Idea and one I will support. I am already purchasing more of the Bones 2 line for my D&D and Oldhammer alternatives, and I admit excitement at the new of Bones 4. Based on the quality of these miniatures: you will have an additional participant. Please keep up the outstanding quality and amazing work. I hope you enjoy my efforts. C&C is always appreciated: it is the only way an Artist can improve. May your blends be smooth. Peace and blessings.

So another old Partha piece that I just finished. I don't think the photos are the greatest and there is such lack of mercy when you see your piece so close up but here we go: I think she came out reasonably well. She had a huge shield that I just didn't want to leave blank, so I did a bit of freehand, but I'm wondering sometimes my artistic talents when I do these, as this little Pegasus reminds me more of a little rag doll horsey than a noble beast of flight. It's just really hard to get too much detail in such a small area which is about the size of a dime. This one was originally a set of four females, originally called Queens from different cultures by Dennis Mize, really nice set. Enjoy!

So this is a commission by a forum member (who can speak up if they want themselves known =P ) to paint a five headed dragon statue up as Tiamat! So two photos, first is her fresh out of her bubble wrap and packing peanuts, and second is her cleaned up, primed, and with a few friends for scale reference!

I got married on Saturday! Here we are looking far happier than is probably healthy. My wife and I decided that we would have our own homemade cake for our wedding, with her baking and decorating it and me painting up a cake topper. Recipies were trialled, decorating techniques were researched, and the end result was pretty great: And of course, the reason I'm posting in Show Off, is the cake topper featuring King Angus and Queen Shanon: I'm quite happy with the result. The base is from Iron Halo, who were incidentally the only company I found that made a 100mm round base, but also happened to make it in an appropriate design. I'll leave you with a shot of the wedding party (yes, me and my groomsmen have personalised Judge badges and yes, I would have bought whole Judge outfits for all of us if I could have afforded it).

Also uses the base of the Ghostly summons, 77095. Put this one together from the bits of two different throne sitting minis which I found with the figure finder. Spent ages on this one. Was very difficult for me. Thought I'd have to strip it of paint and start over again, but I can't be bothered. She's got paint in her face the thickness of my thumb soon, as I could not get the eyes and skin tone right. Given up on her now. :P

This post is a follow-up to A Pair of Very Old Dwarfs and a Very Old Gnome. The best I could come up with for a size comparison was a work-in-progress conversion of a current GW plastic Dwarf warrior model. As you can see, they are pretty similar in size, but the overly-muscled design of the newer dwarfs makes the King look quite the shrimp! I've also included a picture including the newly-finished Queen Asabelle Dragonsmiter, and a group shot of the completed Court-to-date. Thanks for looking!
