  1. This is the wagon/cart from Nolzur's marvelous miniatures, by Wizkids. Nothing special, just a quick tabletop paint job.
  2. Bones1 rat swarm, done in a couple hours to kill time while my main project was drying. Tabletop level.
  3. Another Bones 1 figure; painted to a tabletop level. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking!
  4. I've had these pics on my camera for a few days, and keep forgetting to upload them... Keep getting distracted by other projects, but nothing wrong with that I say... ^_^;;;;; These photos were taken using my previous way of doing things, and I definitely prefer the "newer" way even if it means a bit more work up front, but there's less editing, and my kit lens is a LOT easier to work with for such up close pictures. Kind of can't wait to get that Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro that's on my wishlist, but right now it's a debate between miniature supplies and camera gear, and the camera gear isn't
  5. I've been running a Savage Rifts campaign (Pinnacle did a Kickstarter to adapt Palladium's classic Rifts setting over to the Savage Worlds rules). So I decided I needed some things painted that would work in that setting. As the Coalition is ever present but I have lots of "guys in armor" I decided to start with some Skelebots (The Coalition's disposable killer robots, designed to look like skeletons, as the Coalition is all about the skulls). I have a bit of an issue with ordering anything from Palladium these days (Robotech) combined with their existing Skelebot figs being from th
  6. I speed painted these zombies probably a month ago, I just haven't been in the mood to take pictures or hobby since I finished 'em. Well, I had a pretty good day yesterday, and I think my mojo might be back, so you get some pictures. I think I spent about 7 hours on them as a group, and they're painted to a tabletop level. Thanks for looking.
  7. A Wereboar in full charge mode. No wonder King Robert got the worst of his drunken encounter in the woods. This one was started via a case of "I have some exess paint on my palette", this time I had a mishap and squeezed out far to much skintone at one point. And as I can't really get the paint back into the bottle, I needed to find a use for it. Hence this. This wereboar is AFAIK as of yet unreleased for general sales by Reaper, so I do not have a SKU code for it. It came in a set with the werewolf I did not too long ago, and weregori
  8. I had some browns and greens left over on my pallette from working on some orclings, so I put the colours to use together with some vallejo smokey ink for the dark stain. Just globbed a few different shades on, drybrushed some others here and there, dotted in the eyes and teeth and hey presto. I glued some basing flock to it's branches for the finishing touch. 30mm base Together with this Swamp Demon from Conan the Board Game: These were both really quick and easy, which often is the case where the colours are simil
  9. Sooooo... I'm going to do this crazy thing. When I got my Maal Drakar for Christmas, I booked myself a vacation during my slow season at work to do this. Partially because I knew I needed a vacation, and partially so I could challenge my belief that I am a slow painter. The rules: When I first saw the Maal Drakar sculpt, I immediately thought of Hiram Mcdaniels from Welcome to Night Vale. So, I'm going to paint his heads gold, green, violet, grey, and blue. Eventually (probably after the challenge is done) I would like to freehand some Night Vale inspired
  10. Well, this one was an.... Interesting challenge to say the least. It was one of the only models I had that I could even attempt to fingerpaint, as most of my other models my fingers can't even reach a quarter of the details they had... Originally, I had no set plan with this guy, but then I started getting this feeling about how I should make him look like an aaaaaancient guardian of sorts... Probably had something to do with his second colour winding up being a rather medium stone grey colour I suspect :P Anyways, I wound up doing what felt like some crazy colour combinations j
  11. Couldn't resist the silly-ish title - it was originally going to be "Novice Painter, versus LTPK:Core!" but I changed it a touch at the end.. Bonus points if you read that as the Innkeeper from Hearthstone. :P While I have painted miniatures in the past, I've first and foremost never shown such results to anyone, and secondly went in blindly with those ones, and while I was happy with them at the time, I wanted to improve. Other things in life took over for a while, and then finally I said that's it, I'm either going to FINALLY paint my primered army of doom that was at Doom In
  12. The Plague affects not only humans, but most animals and many alien sentient races. Such as the hitech DinoTurtle-like Teraton. The Teraton females are significantly larger than the males, and when infected by the Plague, she grows partially into and partially busting out of her armour, while remaining more or less her normal size. These 2nd generation Teratons retain most of their intelligence and function as leaders on the field of battle. I like to call them Terrortons. Because they are terrifying and weigh a to
  13. It’s a Brain in a Jar! I have always wanted a brain in a jar. So I can have a safe place to keep the moonshine, you can be quite certain that nobody is going to mooch off it when it is in there together with that thing... This one comes from the Reaper Bones 3 kickstarter and I simply could not wait any longer to paint it. It is a giant brain, though. The legs stand at about 5cm in diameter. 77493: Brain In a Jar Reaper Miniatures, Bones 3 KS. Bonesium PVC sculpted by Chris Lewis
  14. The imposing 1st generation plague victim. What happens is that the first person to get infected by the Plague in a given cycle, turns into a horrendous monstrosity, growing several metres in height and width, it’s new massively muscled frame covered in a bio-organic spiky exoarmour. In it’s new form it is extremely intelligent and powerful individual that sets out find others to infect. These new victims turn into the 2nd generations, each much smaller than the 1st gen, but still ogre-sized. These again infect the 3rd gens that we have seen. The 1st and 2nd gens do not use technology or weapo
  15. Here's my take on this cute little guy. I tried to do more glazes on him than the way I normally paint, and his eyes are violet, which I think came out ok. Wishing I'd been able to get the huge mold line off his head but oh well. He's still adorbs.
  16. Reaper Bones 77511 Xiloxoch, Naga So I had grand plans for this mini; washes on the scales and NMM on the headpiece, but alas neither of those came to pass. Like usual, washes hate me, so after a wash attempt that ruined my previous effort at painting the scales, I ended up meticulously painting and shading each scale. I did successfully glaze on the scales at the very end for shading, so i call that a win. Moving on to my grand NMM plan. After painting every scale I was pretty sick of the mini, and it sat untouched for month. Then I had an incident of pouring way too
  17. Painted mainly just by drybrushing. The sculpt screamed grizzly bear, so I tried to emulate those colors. I think this is my quickest figure yet, and one of my favorites. Any advice and critiques are appreciated!
  18. These three pieces have been sitting around in a box for ages, I rediscovered them the other day and decided to just have at them. They really did not take more than a few minutes plus drying time each. 77136 Well of Chaos 77139 Altar of Evil 77137 Sarcophagus The well was filled with a drop of blue and a drop of unshaken green (=blotchy and stripey as the pigments had seperated alittle) vallejo paint. Just one drop directly from the dropper bottles into the well each, a very gentle stir an
  19. My first figure of the year, and also my first speedpaint (AKA I tried not to get perfectionist over every detail) I followed the kit's instructions on the cloak, then did my own thing on the rest, which accidentally wound up being pretty similar to most of the other ltpk Anirions I've seen. This wasn't my favorite sculpt, and the mold lines were terrible, especially on her hand, but I was able to practice and learn a lot by painting her. Any critiques and advice for future figures are welcome and appreciated!
  20. So, since the RPChallenge Requests a Show-Off, here's my first point for this year! I'm really proud of her! I'm not sure which of the starting survivors she is, but... Better Pictures (edit): Critique would be appreciated. I will admit, I used too light a skin color for the OSL to look right over, and it is toned down enough that you can't really tell in person. I wanted to give the lantern a soft glow, rather than a bright one, to capture the hopelessness that is Kingdom Death.
  21. I'm kinda on time! Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72577-resolutionary-painting-challenge-2017-chatterquestions/ All the information you need should be here. Due to the revised format, there will be more than one bonus challenge available for this month. Including a "Hard mode" which Is some combination that may
  22. [MOD]Please use the full SKU and name of Reaper minis in the titles of your Show Off threads, per forum guidelines. You can find this information on the blister card or in the online store. I also like to give credit to the sculptor in a tag, so people can find their favorites. We have a high volume of posts generated from this challenge, which is great! But it's also creating a lot of work for the mods. Ladystorm has already urged folks to comply with these guidelines.[/MOD] Important Change! As an experiment, this project has been moved to be a bi-monthly chal
  23. The 20 resin heroes from wave 1.5 of the Shadows of Brimstone kickstarter. I believe there are 12 or so more resin heroes and companions to come in wave 2. A note about the resin used. I see that there is a lot of internet-hate directed towards the resin models, mainly because of the greasy release agent used not being easy to remove, and that many people prefer plastic for ease of gluing and such. I think many of the complainers are boardgamers more than miniature modellists, which I certainly can see these models posing problems. My experience was that w
  24. An old Ral Partha lady warrior I painted for the Morihalda Challenge. I'm happy with her eyes (only two tries!), but she seems kinda washed out in the pictures. I need to play with the light box more.
  25. This is a giant frog from Mega Minis (you can't get it from there any more, though. He sold the molds to another company; I'm not sure who) that I have painted up as an Ice Toad for use in FrostGrave games. Also part of my Morihalda Challenge.
