  1. Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/84371-2019-rpchallenge-questionsannouncements/ All the information you need should be here. As usual, the new format holds a "hard mode" challenge! January and February 2019 Your challenge is: 8! Bonus Challenge: The First! Finished - not perfect! Paint 4 minis from your 'shelf of s
  2. I finished this model right at the end of February, but I've been under the weather and it wasn't until today that I felt up to taking pictures. This was my first time chopping up the integral base of a bones mini and making a custom base and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I realized upon photographing him that I forgot to properly paint the armband on his left arm so I'll have to go back and do that. I might also repaint the knife/cleaver as steel. I thought it would look cool as copper like some kind of ceremonial knife, but I t
  3. These guys had been sitting on my desk of unfinished minis for a long time, so in February I finished them up for the "finished, not perfect" section of the Jan/Feb RP Challenge. Total models for January/February 2019 ended up being 5, but that already is more than I typically get done in that span, so I'll call it a win. Thanks for looking! C&C welcome.
  4. The Skyless Realms was a kickstarter for some .stl-files that funded recently and delivered just a couple weeks ago. The theme was buildings, scatter terrain and miniatures of several kinds that would typically found in the Underdark setting for D&D. Centered around spider-worshipping Dark Elves, there are a bunch of classic cave and dungeon monsters, Deep Gnomes, Gray Dwarves, lizardfolk and the obligatory tentacle-faced horrors that want to suck out your brains. A whole lot of stuff! Now, I have a two year old cheapo flashforge finder FDM-printer that only uses PLA material. It is g
  5. I had fun painting these Bones mushroom men (SKU 77345) to a tabletop standard. Their faces are so derpy and cool!
  6. ...I say 'sort of' because he's no longer. Now he's my PC in quite honestly the very first Pathfinder game I've had the chance to simply sit down and play in about a decade. I've been forever-GM for that long. His name has been changed, as has his vocation. Now he's Lauralin, Inquisitor of Nethys. Unfortunately, Nethys, with his half-black, half-white color scheme, lends itself to oddly harlequinned clerics. I tried to avoid the checkerboard here and just stick with solids. Which... can be a little simple. So I added some red dirt to
  7. Some Stone Golems (SKU 77171) to challenge my players with in some future game session.
  8. I Don't have much to go on with this dragon. its another one that has been sitting half finished on my shelf forever. the bottom has some script on the bottom that looks like FWS and an 8. other than that I don't have any clue where it comes from. but I finally dusted the mini off, freshened up the red (It was becoming a pink dragon) and decided to display it here. hope everyone enjoys!
  9. A really quick and dirty set of scenery using mantics library mini crate. All told I have maybe 2 hours into the set. I think it came out pretty well. I wanted to see what these looked like and the could double for additional scenery on my Saga game. Air brushes brown primer, followed by a drybrush of woodland brown and then a bunch of colors for the actual books Hope you like what you see...
  10. What else to finish off the month of January but another dragon from my shelf of shame? This is Ollie. Ollie is from Impact miniatures and is supposed to be a mascot for one of the bloodbowl teams. Tom Acquired the license to produce him and I got a copy. I used him to test a number of different red effects and styles while working on another, bigger dragon. The skills may not have panned out like I wanted but Ollie still came out pretty well and deserved to be finished and shown off. Pictures are still with a phone camera but at least I got to my light box! So without further ado:
  11. I needed some drow type critters done up in case my group manages to skip ahead in our current campaign and go straight underground. I also wanted to clear a few more bones minis off my shelf to free up more room in anticipation of bones 4. I know these aren't all dark elves, or even elves, but they all seemed to kind of go together when I put them on the work bench. So three very rapid paint jobs later and I'm ready to do a little underdark-ish campaigning if the group gets there before all the stuff in the darkreach expansion gets to me.
  12. The Nighthaunts the Nightvault... ok, enough with the bad puns already. I used these to experiment with some color schemes I wanted to try out for my Nighthaunt army that is patiently awaiting to be brought to life. Pic heavy. click to see
  13. Every once in a while I get the hankering to do some Nolzur's Marvellous Miniatures. I like the monsters and have bought a few, but I can't stand the itty bitty truscale of the humans though -they are simply too small for my tastes, the shallow details disappearing beneath the oft-to thick primer. Here are Xorn, the three-legged three-eyed earth elemental with a massive maw! There are two to a pack, and I think they are supposed to represent a low-level and a high-level version. However, they are the exactly the same size, so who can tell the difference in power level? I stuck them o
  14. Last weekend Xiloxoch the dear Naga had the chance to eat a few adventurers. She didn't succeed but one of them was poisoned to unconsciousness. His shoes were on so he endured a mustache drawn on his face. Here she is in her post-battle glory. Lapis lazuli for the headdress, painted with this great blue I have called "sample" then an overly transparent blue I tend to use as an ink. I won't name the ink-paint or its source; it's probably transparent like this because it was a bad bottle. Still, even as a factory mis-mix it's really us
  15. To continue the thought I moved on to another that has been haunting me from my shelf of shame; the platinum dragon from the Grenadier dragon lords series I have to apologize for the phone pics but I had to rush and my wife's business has sort of taken over the spot I keep my light box
  16. Let it be known photography is not my strong suit. I also have no setup for it. With that in mind, and ignoring the background that is my unprepared studio apartment... The base was modified with a pile of epoxy putty to add snow. The Glacial Dragon uses a highly limited palatte. There are three colors on this dragon, MSP HD Dragon Blue, MSP Frosty Blue, and MSP Peppermint White. Dragon Blue was limited to mere washes and some blending. This Glacial Dragon has no pupil, only the blues found in ancie
  17. Let's start the season by cleaning out my shelf of shame and accomplish something I've been meaning to do for the last decade or so.... One of my first big miniature accomplishments I completed as a teenager was the complete painting of the first dragon lords circle by Grenadier the year it came out (in case any of you were wondering how old in actually was) Well I found the set when I was going through my parents things and I wanted to try and do it better with my new skills and paints... it took about 3 years it accumulate a second set and then the project got dela
  18. Hey there! I decided to hop back on the RPChallenge wagon! These guys have been languishing on my desk, just in need of some touch-ups and basing. So I knocked those out, and I'm calling them done. They'll be fun to use as a marker or something. I did a WIP on my blog, feel free to go check it out! I update there much more frequently than I post here. Hope y'all enjoy them! C&c is always welcome!
  19. The Night Goblins Moonclan Grotz venture forth from their fungus-infested caves to do battle in the Nightvault. Being so small and weedy, they compensate by being many. There are nine of them, one more than the eight starter positions on the game board. So yeah, I went with the fungal theme... pic heavy, click if you dare!
  20. Reaper Bones 77464: Werewolf from the third Bones kickstarter. Currently available from the reaperminis.com webstore. Sculpted by James Van Schaik. I made a bespoke 3Dprinted 40mm round base for it.
  21. Reaper Bones 77407: Death Dog from the third Bones kickstarter. Currently available from the reaperminis.com webstore. Sculpted by Julie Guthrie. I made a bespoke 3Dprinted 45x30mm base for it. I went for a black dog with red demonic eyes for this.
  22. Painted these up for my next RPG session because I decided my city guards needed some help tracking down the PCs as they flee through the sewers and undercity.
  23. This one has been standing around, based in one form or another since the Bones 1 kickstarter back in 2013 or whenever it actually delivered. One of the few KS1 Undead Bones I had not painted yet. I had originally based it on a square movement tray thinking to make it as some sort of skeleton unit for Kings of War, but for some reason that no longer appealed to me when I dusted it off this time. It had actual cobwebs on. I finally settled on a bespoke 125mm by 90mm oval 3D printed base, and slapped some paint on it to get it done. lots of pics below
  24. A whole year and almost no Bones painted. How did that happen? There are still 20 Bones left to paint and the fourth kickstarter is still on track for delivery around next Easter! I have had these kobolds ready to paint since I received the first Bones several years ago. They were part of the Vampire base pledge box, in a subset called "Dungeon Attack" with some giant rats and goblins. I painted the rats ages ago and the goblins are...lets call it awaiting paint. Four sets of three Kobolds, I did each set in a different colour. Funny how I remember Kobolds as
  25. I think this might be the last post of the year. From the Bones 3 kickstarter: An excellent stand-in for a Great Unclean One or Daemon Prince of Nurgle; a not-Froghemoth, that has now been renamed "77581 Mudgullet" and is slated for release by Reaper this January. Picture heavy! Click if you dare!
