  1. #163: This one looks like she demands satisfaction one way or another. En garde! 25mm base from the Sophies Friends subset of the Bones 4 Core set
  2. Again, an entry for a painting league at another forum. Susie and the Snow Goons! RUN! In homage and reference to the seminal comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. Here we have Calvin's instantly recognizable wierd snowmen, and Susie, his neighbor/friend/schoolmate and part-time nemesis in addition to Calvin and Hobbes themselves. Search for Calvin & Hobbes. You will not regret it. Calvin and Hobbes Susie. I made her santa hat in plastic putty. 50042: Townsfolk Modern Children
  3. Short Wart's Cohort Mort Being a band of bony retribution soon to cross the Brandywine and come a-knocking on little round doors under the hills. Most of these skeleton minis are from the same second hand purchase where I got the zombies that were featured a few week ago. I got the incomplete undead mammoth off Ebay several years ago, and Short Wart himself is an Oathsworn Halfling Necromancer. All minis have been given 3D printed bases, most of them 25mm. There are a lot of pics beneath, although some are distictly unfocussed, as if a dark power did not wis
  4. Yet another of my entries in a painting league on another forum Pride and Joy A nice walk in the park for the Lovecrafts. Sorry about the pics being a bit blurry, I am still struggling with the camera. It seems it is not meant for such small items. Most of the miniatures are from a recent 2019 kickstarter by Bear's Head Miniatures, apart from the large Star Spawn that is from the game Cthulhu Wars by Petersen Games. One of the kickstarters for that game had an option for one each of the miniatures extra, and this one is from that set. I hacked off
  5. Paintedfor a painting league in another forum: "Bring Out Your Dead!" I envision this as a wandering band who collects the dead. Sometimes they need to make ther cargo dead first. Being death warmed over themselves, they do not know what else to do with their unlives. lots more pictures beneath the click:
  6. The chibi smallworld minis are all based on existing normal minis in the Reaper lines. I recognized five of them from the minis I have from earlier Bones kickstarters, but not Arnise the female barbarian elf that I painted the other day. The reason being that the original was included in the Bones 4 core set. An older metal mini being redone into Bones material it seems. So I painted her in a similar scheme. The metal version is called Arnise, Elven Sergeant from the Warlord line, and represents the Sergeant of Almirithil's frenzied half-elven berserkers
  7. Plonking away a the Bones 4 core set, this is number 5: I am not a number! I am a free man! The metal version of this is called Ankoa, Barbarian Hero. He has a really small head compared to most of the other minis. I expect he is not too bright. Probably not destined to bear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. There's a new playah in town! Come get some! B4Core #5 Barbarian from the Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Bobby Jackson Made in Bonesium PVC
  8. AUGH! The Great Pumpkin Came! This was my entry in a painting league at another miniatures forum. In reference to the longstanding Peanuts theme of Linus sitting alone in the Pumpkin Patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin to come bringing gifts, Santa Claus-style. It's a pity for him that Halloween is all about the scary...and the Great Pumpkin probably is not a very nice being. The miniatures are all by Reaper, the fences are from Mantic's Kings of War Vanguard terrain. I found the simplicity of the fences really helped to sell the story here. As o
  9. The second of the superdeformed Chibi hero minis from the Bones 4 core set that I have painted, here comes Arnise the Elf Barbarian. Kissed by fire. I have no idea if she actually is meant to be a barbarian or not. Getting that much skin smooth is not an easy task, especially not by drybrushing. ...oh damn I forgot the freckles! Same height, different scale. B4Core#118 Arnise from the Small World Heroes subset in the Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Gene Van Horne (I think!)
  10. I admit to getting a bit more than just the core set in the Bones 4 kickstarter....but I have decided to paint the entire core set before tackling any of the expansion sets. However, there are also a bunch of add-ons to do. Most of those are rather large... but we start with some mid-sized ones: These are the "Skeletal Monsters" add on subset. A Chimera, an Owlbear and a Manticore, plus a heap of monster bones / spawn pile scatter terrain piece. Also there is a sprue of different heads to you can convert to other monster skeletons if you like. I am keeping the sprue of m
  11. A bit of a departure for me today. Chibi, a style formerly known as Superdeformed before Anime became popular in the western hemisphere. I am not particularily fond of Chibi; that superdeformed cutesy manga look that has insidiously permeated the pop culture of today. Sigh. What is the world coming to? Now they also have infiltrated my beloved Bones... During the Bones 4 kickstarter campaign, they offered chibi versions of some of their existing minis as free additions to the core set as social stretch goals, adding them one by one as their target numbers fo
  12. From the Bones 4 core set, this is the subset called "Classic Horror", #130 through #135. A take on some of the monsters of the 1930's Universal movies series fame, with both male and female counterparts. I based the Mummy on a 35x25mm base as his integral base was both scenic and rather wide and I did not want to cut it down. The others are based on 30mm round lipped bases. Click for more pics
  13. I am slowly working through the Bones 4 core set. Today we come to #13, the Warrior of Chaos. I don't know what Reaper is calling this mini, if they even have a name for it yet. I imagine it would be something like "Bloodcurdle Angerpants, Anti-Paladin" or "Gruff McDuff, Evil Fighter". (Feel free to use these names, Reaper ) But it clearly is a Warrior of Chaos. This model has the look, what with horned helmet, bulky full plate, skulls, straps, furry shoulders, heavy cloth cloak and the tower shield. ...and I was going to put a picture of a chaos warrior from t
  14. A large mini ragepainted sloppyfast in under an hour just to blow off some steam and get it off the tray it has been standing around for ages on. Well, large mini I say. Compared to most other dragons of the Bones kickstarters, this one is rather smallish. However, back in the day when heavy metal was king, this mini would be considered a large miniature of a dragon. pics below the clicks
  15. Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/84371-2019-rpchallenge-questionsannouncements/ All the information you need should be here. As usual, the new format holds a "hard mode" challenge! The Last quarter of the year 2019 because real life is a bugbear sometimes. Your challenge is: 18! Bonus Challenge: 1! Fall! Paint a
  16. This mini is called "Vorvorlaka" and is from the Bones 3 kickstarter, Graveyard expansion. I based it on a 30mm lipped base. The obligatory size comparisons... 77631 Vorvorlaka Reaper Miniatures, Bones 3 KS 2015, Graveyard expansion Sculpted by Bob Ridolfi 30mm base available from reapermini.com Here shown with Reaper 80068 Victorians and North Star's Pulp Heroes: The Film Crew sculpted by Bob Murch click the pic to enlarge
  17. Two out of three "Victorians" .These are from the Bones 3 kickstarter, Mythos expansion, and called "Victorians". The colour schemes are inspired by the "town walk" outfits of Mina and Vlad in 1992 movie Bram Stoker's Dracula. ...and for some reason these are in a smaller scale than most other reaper minis. 80068 Victorians Reaper Miniatures, Bones 3 KS 2015, Mythos expansion Sculpted by Bob Ridolfi 25mm 3D printed bases available from reapermini.com
  18. The Brass Bull. out of the Bully for you subset in the Bones 2 core set. This is a not-Gorgon from D&D. I do not know why Gygax would call this a Gorgon, since it really has nothing to do with the Gorgon sisters from Greek myth. But what it is, is a massive metal bullock that has a petrifying green gas breath attack. Even though the Gorgon is described as iron, in that it can be rusty, I did it in bronzey brassey colours. I gave it a bit of green around the muzzle to look like some residue from it's halitosis. More beneath the click
  19. nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-BATMAN! Another inbetweener, the Bones 3 Werebat this time. I had some paint left over on my palette (I do like dropper bottles much better than the dry-out-pots citadel uses, but sometimes too much paint comes out and I can't really put it back. More pics beneath the click
  20. The Dragonman something from the Bones 4 core set. This mini actually comes in many parts and with a selection of different weaponry and hand-held things. I went with the bucaneery sabre and dagger on account of the high boots looking a little piratey. Also, this is what the render shown in the KS looked like. I went with a bronze / gold armour and my new darker flock mix. Turned out well in my opinion at least. The base is a 3D printed 35x25mm lipped oval as I thought a 40mm round was too large. B4Core #16 Dragonman (?) Reaper Miniatures, Bones 4 KS 2017 unkno
  21. This one has been standing around half-painted for a while. The rule 63 Drizzt Do'Urden from Bones 2. This model is quite nice from the front and back, but really flat from the side. Which is typical of originally made for single piece metal casting-minis. Your panther has made a mess of my carpet! Come clean it up! 77217 Mi-Sher, female elf with scimitars Reaper Miniatures, Bones 2 KS 2013 core set Sculpted by Julie Guthrie Bonesium PVC. 30mm lipped base available from reapermini.com
  22. These scenery bits are from the Bones 2 and 4 kickstarters respectively. I did them quick in my go-to rock paint scheme. An uneven coat of dark greengrey over a solid black undercoat, followed by a heavy drybrush with a sandy yellow, and finished with a lighter drybrush of offwhite. Quick and easy! The colours give a much more satisfying rock finish than just using the typical monochrome greys. Too bad the colours are not really showing properly up in the photos. On each end are the Pillars of Good and Evil from Bones 2, the rest is the subset "Grave Things" from the Bones 4 co
  23. From WizKids' line of Nolzur's Marvellous Miniatures comes the "Treant", which is D&D-speak for Ent, or Treeman if you are more familar with Warhammer. I find this mini looks angry and scary, not like a benevolent living tree shepherd at all. A malevolent one, on the other hand, fits the bill precicely. And seeing as I have been painting undead halflings and there is a strong historic connection between Halflings and Treemen as allies; so undead treeman. Hence, Torchwood the Furious here. Go on, you know you want to go on:
  24. The next batch of little tykes off the 2018 TTCombat Halflings and Fantasy Friends-kickstarter: more pics beneath the click
  25. Mat and Pat of the City Guard. Or whatever Reaper calls these minis. So far the only names I have for them is Bones 4 Core set #14 and #15. STOP PRESS: Upon actually checking the internets, it seems that they are already available cast in metal, and called "City Guard (2)". A no brainer, really. They are quite obviously just that. I think I should have done the edging on the lower parts of the tabards differently, the blacklining did not turn out well at all. Looks better unmagnified IRL though. 'Alt raht there Guv'ner. You're not gettin' in 'ere dre
