Hi guys, Been working off and on on a few different miniatures but just got a few finished last night. This one I was able to actually photograph today. I had another that I took pictures of, but when I looked at the pictures, it had a piece of grass sitting on it that I just couldn't accept so I'll take pictures again tomorrow of that figure. So anyhoos, here is a Ral Partha Brigand with Sword, the third part of a blister from Partha's Encounters of the Imagination Series: and here's a picture of the group together: The set also came with some loot, some bags and a little treasure pile, but I haven't painted those yet. Don't know if I will or not. Anyways, hope you all enjoy and are also enjoying the glory that is Reapercon!

Hi all you Reaperly fellows and fellowettes! So this time I just finished painting a little dragon, Ral Partha-sized dragon, sculpted by Dennis Mize. As always, I had tons of problems figuring out a color, so I did a red underpart, and then above, I used for the most part the Dark Elf Skin Triad to paint the rest. I took a bunch of photos because with the wings extended like they are, it was hard to get things in focus, so sorry if I put in too many photos, but want to give a good idea of the mini. He's a pretty big mini in the Ral Partha sense, but pretty small in the overall sense of dragon-ness, I know that Reaper has tons of larger dragons out there. I like this guy because he is long and sinuous. I had to bend his wings up a little so they wouldn't go straight out. I didn't check the year he was sculpted but I'm guessing latter seventies or early eighties. Anyhoos, hopefully you enjoy!

In the thread "Metal Minis We Would Like to See" I posted about getting a triple figure pack for all possible uses with your adventurer. Figured I'd post an image of one I used back in the late 70s when I played Chivalry & Sorcery. The mounted and foot figures are Ral Partha and the dead one (luckily never had to use him) was an Orc casualty figure (manufacturer unknown) modified by using an extra RP knight. And yes, I do know how to spell complete; I'm referencing one of my favorite books, The Compleat Enchanter by L. Spague deCamp and Fletcher Pratt. Check it out for a very fun read!

This is a repaint of a mini I first painted in the 80s. If I recall the bottom says 1983 Ral Partha. I do not know the figure ID or sculpter, but the folds on her cloak were gorgeous - they pained themselves. I did the repaint as I have a character who is a teenager - and could not find an appropriate modern mini. I've never repainted something from my youth, I am generally to nostalgic. The before is the pale skinned one.

Another deep dive into the abyss... This infernal figure was torture to pin and glue, and the storage of it is devilishly tricky because of the super bendy spear. I really wish that minis produced with pole arms / spears would use a bit of stiff wire overmolded with the pole arm / spear casting. I have had to adjust this spear so many times. I must have done something really evil in my last life...

I ain't even gonna try to feed this beastie lemongrass... Known for its deathgaze and horrific flatulence, it was universally feared by adventurers. But, if some brave adventurers would gather milk, the local creameries would produce Death cheese. I was surfing through some posts and saw the catoplebas mentioned, so I thought that someone might enjoy seeing one.

I've been rummaging through my mini hoard and found all kinds ancient treasures, boxed sets with the original inserts! My stupid question is this, is anyone interested in photos of the boxed sets for identification purposes? The collection goes back to the early 80's and is from a plethora of companies. If members are interested in miniature identification, then should there be a dedicated thread where members can post pics of their boxed sets and still carded minis? Or is there already a thread for mini identification?

Continuing to dig up my childhood minis... This crazy old dragon was done back in 1984, I basically dunked him in turquoise enamel. While not sophisticated, the color was beautiful and it's one of my all time favorite sculpts so I left it intact and decided to try adding some details. Results below!

Hi one and all under the joyous Reaper spell! So I'm not sure who the sculptor is on this one but she's one of a set of three figures with I think some loot bags. The other two guys are some brigands that I imagine turned her in to this female captive instead of just being the run of the mill female. She's kind of kneeling in a pile of random bones and stones. Fun little figure to paint, hope you guys enjoy:

Hello all you Reapernauts! So just finished these two up, keep working on Shadowrun stuff for a bit of variety. These two are either Deckers as per their original packaging, or Young Deckers when you look at the Iron Wind Metals page nowadays. Either way, some pretty fun figures to paint, a guy and a gal. After taking photos, as per usual, I found a few glaring errors, but I'm not sure if I want to go back in to repaint some parts and rephotograph. Out of everything, I'm just pretty happy on how the little rat came out. So anyhoos, here they are, enjoy! and of course I always giggle that the eighties imagination never conceived small little phones you could do virtually anything you ever needed with, but rather had their guys carrying around big, long laptop/keyboards to get their tekkie stuff done. I wonder if newer editions of Shadowrun (assuming they exist) compensated for this in the future. Hmmmm...

Hi Gang, dug up these two tough guys from my box of childhood minis. One was my attempt as an eleven year old using Testors model paints, got so frustrated I didn't paint again for thirty-five years. Feeling inspired after tackling my Reaper starter kits and recent Battle Troll. Got isopropyl at the drug store. Let's see how it goes... :)

And another Shadowrun figure, the third figure from what was originally a three piece set of Elven subtypes. This dapper gentleman is a Wakyambi, which from what I read on line (haven't ever actually ever played Shadowrun or own any of the gaming books), he's an African Elf Subtype, tall and thin. He was fun to paint, but his dingly dangly stuff eventually just made me cry for mercy in the hopes I would someday finish. His necklace and his little staff had quite a bit of details to it, as well has his funky monkey belt buckle. and here is the set in its entirety, not completely great focus, but it's hard to get three figures to focus nicely: So three more finished, I wonder how many more I can get done before I go to the great beyond? Hopefully 50 or more per year for another thirty to forty years, but we'll see....

Hello to all you bovine aficionados! So a while back ago I did a normal minotaur, Greek-type mythological beast with an axe on two legs. This one is a little different, it's a Shadowrun Minotaur which has a bull's body and a "primate" face. I think Jim Johnson sculpted it back in the nineties, as usual forgot to check for a date on the bottom. Pretty straight forwards colors, and it's actually kind of a big and heavy model. Put him on an oval base because there was no way he was going to fit on a normal size circle one: Anyhoos, hope you guys all enjoy him!

Hello there fine followers of the fine Reaper faith and Happy Fourth of July for those in Gringolandia! So here is my Shadowrun Dryad, made by Ral Partha, probably sculpted by Jim Johnson in 1996 if you choose to believe the bottom of the base, and I do. I did her the same time I did the Night Elf I also just recently posted, but one of the eyes on this green haired chicky poo, I just couldn't get it like I wanted to, so I went back and redid the eye, and I still didn't like it, so this is the third version, which I'm also not super duper satisfied with, but there comes a point when I just give up to move to the next small piece of metal. So here she is: and here is a close up of her eyes. Her left one hs that spoke that I just didn't get closed properly. From really close it's very noticeable, but only kind of noticeable from afar and I really couldn't tell with the actual figure, only with the zoom of modern technology. I never had these issues back in the eighties. Anyway, I like some of these Shadowrun figures, because besides being just generally cool, they kind of cross two genres. This one and the other night elf, could easily be fantasy figures, nothing really would orient them to actual science fiction. So back to the painting table! Hello Reaperholics! So I've had this one finished for a few days now, but I usually photograph one sunny days and the last few days have been kind of cloudy. I actually really enjoy the figure, once you get paint on her, you bring out more detail. She's from Ral Partha's Shadowrun range. Her original set came with a dryad and another large elf subtype that I'm also working on. I have the dryad done, but I wasn't happy with her eyes so I'm going to try one more time to fix the eyes before I take final pictures. Anyhoos, hope you all enjoy! For whatever reason, I seem to always see magic flame as green, so this mini was no exception!

Hi guys and guyettes! So continuing on with some Dennis Mize Children of the Night dinosaurs, here is the Monoclonius Agathaumas: He went on a long, oval base because he was just too big for whatever circular ones I had. Tried to once again stay away from a green or grey color scheme. Not a very dramatic pose, just a dinosaur kind of hanging out, but I think he's pretty swell as far as dinosaurs go. Not a triceratops, doesn't have those wonderful long horns on his head, just little nubs. If I get so inspired, I'll go look up his name to see what actually is known about this particular type of dinosaur and where he lived, et cetera. Back in the days of my youth, the seventies, we as kids really loved anything related to dinosaurs and cavemen. But those were back in the days of pre-pre Jurassic Park, we had more Harryhausen as our main provider of cinematic dinosaurs, and whatever books we could get at book stores. Speaking of seventies dinosaurs, has anybody visited the Flintstone Park in South Dakota and is it still there?

Hello sentient painting creatures! So here's one I just finished painting and just got his base finished this morning and some pictures taken: from an eighties Ral Partha set of Julie Guthrie figures, originally called the Berserkers, with was a group of different types of fighters/warriors. Nice set, as is all of what the Goddess Guthrie creates. With this one, I also am using as a comparison set, because I also painted this one many, many years ago. So it was in the eighties, before 1986 when I graduated high school, so this painted version is of an age between 34 and maybe 39 years old, couldn't nail down an exact date exactly: I started out with the same skin and hair more or less on my new version, but changed up his wardrobe as to note make a carbon copy. The new figure was painted with Reaper colors and the old version was Polly S. Anyhoos, always fun to do these little comparison shots!

After completing my Reaper training kits, I'm ready to start tackling my old 80s lead minis from my youth. I tried painting a couple when I was twelve years old and failed so miserably I literally thought there was no way I would ever be able to even attempt this hobby and it was just better left to others with more talent. Thanks Reaper for making the awesome training sets and helping me try again after over 35 years. So without further ado I begin digging into my vault from the 80s. Apologies if this forum is for Reaper products only, no insult intended. So I think this baddie might be a Ral Partha Hill Troll, but not sure. Anybody have some insight?

Good evening, morning or afternoon, depending where you are and wen you read this! So my last three miniatures that I just finished. Being they are a set of three and I wanted to photograph them together, I didn't base them, but just painted their bases with a weathered stone, without any elaboration. I might stick them on bases later and do a little bit more to them, but that might be a bit in the future. If I do, it's so I can handle them without worrying the paint might rub off. They are a little bit wide the bases, so they probably won't fit on 32 mm bases, but the next size up. Anyhoos, here they are: and their little three-person guild together: I wish Mize would have sculpted up a bigger guild, so I just keep painting more of his rogues! Kind of fun too that these guys all have humungous swords, I'm hoping they are light and well-balanced! Anyhoos, enjoy!

Hello everybody! Here's a figure I just finished a few nights back and got her based. She's a old, classic Ral Partha figure, Adventuress 01-018, so in that long list of Partha figures in "Personalities and Things that go Bump in the Night" range, number 18. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I read out there on the Lost Mini Wiki that this was the first female adventuring type of miniature that was cast. This is in all honesty the second version of the sculpt, don't have the first one. On the bottom, she had 1976 stamped on its base so it's a nice old figure. I tried not to paint her in too bright of colors, kind of wanted her to be able to wander around with kind of calm colors. Anyways, hope you enjoy this "historic" little mini, she was a joy to paint!

So I've actually been pretty productive these last couple weeks, and here is another miniature I finished up last night, an executioner, sculpted by Julie Guthrie back in the eighties. Pretty basic figure, very few colors, didn't take too long to paint. was lucky today in that it's reasonably sunny outside so I've got some good natural lighting going on. Not sure how happy I am with his axe, turned out a little dark, and I considered putting some blood on it, but in the end thinking maybe it's his first head-whacking of the morning, and hopefully he cleans it daily. With his long weekend I was able to paint quite a lot, and this gentleman was done pretty much all this week. He'd been sitting on a base primed for years, but he seemed to be a nice straightforward figure that I could get done quickly. So hopefully you all enjoy another trip back into our miniature prehistory!

Hello again! so here is my last Ral Partha Victim, sculpted by Dennis Mize, back in 1979. Once again a little on the disrobed side, so I'll give you just the face here, and the rest of her you can check out on the links below. With her, I wanted to paint her because I wanted to try to start working more on transparent clothing. So I started with her dress, but I think maybe incorrectly chose yellow as the dress color, which upon retrospect doesn't give enough contrast between her "fair skin" (the actual Reaper color) and the yellow paint I used for her dress. The blue blouse I think turned out better, more visually transparent. She's a tad out of focus with this extreme close up, but hopefully this will inspire you to see the rest of her in the links. Hello gents and gentesses! So today's miniature I'm going to have to show in edited form, as she's fully exposing all of her mammalian virtues. This one is a "female victim", from a set of the same name, sculpted by Dennis Mize for his miniature range "Children of the Night", sculpted way back in 1979. I always forget to, but I should have taken a picture of her next to some point of reference, because she's a small miniature, 25 miniatures instead of the 28-32 of modern times.
