  1. I probably should of stripped her before painting her, she was primed way back in late 90's with a spray can when I was briefing into the hobby but had destroyed her arm when her staff broke off. Saw her in my bitz box and figured why, not so re-scuplted her whole arm for something to do and just started painting, but some of the detail on the jewelry got gunk and they were hard to paint.
  2. Couldn't really come up with a color scheme I wanted for her than just said well she's a barbarian so brown armor will always do.
  3. I know most will say nice face because it came out fairly well, but I loved doing his cloak most.
  4. She was another I had primed as a thief but didn't fit my scheme, had always thought of her as a bard with the guitar and to me bards are a thief class. You lied to me, you told me you wouldn't use any green on her. "but, but," I had replied, "She's an Elf." hehe
  5. He was primed to be used as my thieves group I was doing last month bu7t upon looking closer got an arabian adventure feel to him so couldn't do my brown and green scheme I had for the group. But of course still decided to go with the brown thinking a desert camoflage....well at least (hoping) maybe thinking that.
  6. I know I counted him as an Elf when he's only half-elven but five side by side looks better than four, hehe for the group shot, thou I really need to go back and try and redo the eyes and one cheek bone on him.
  7. Usually when I prime it's like 15 mini's at a time and I try to throw something in there for fun or a test. Him I primed thinking he'd be a good speed paint practice thou it only semi happened (1 and 1/2 hrs). I was hoping to make him slicky maybe to be use as a leper as well.
  8. I had fun doing three characters of the same type this month (vamps and elves) well actually seeing them pictured together was the fun part that I thought I'd round off and finish February with some thieve's but this time decided to add a common theme, brown and green to hopefully give them more highway rouges look and not city thieves but of course the female was all city.

"So do you want to live forever?" this figured so reminds me of that scene in Conan, and I would of loved to have given her blond hair, but was hoping the red would bring out the dress more since it buried in shadow.

  12. Finally managed to get her finished. She languished on my shelf of shame for at least a decade, partially painted. I'm pretty sure the first layer of skin tone went on her around 2010.
  13. Golem-palooza continues! I know this guy has been around for a while, but I first got him with the Bones 5 core set. I see a lot of people paint the clothes a different color, and that's definitely a good way to make him more visually striking. But I wanted to go for the "statue come to life" look. The only real pops of color were the color shift blue I used in the eyes (to make him look more magically animated) and bits of light blue in the dry brushing (I didn't go too heavy with it and it doesn't really show up in the pictures). Overall, though, I'm happy with him. Any feedback welcome, as usual.
  14. The last of three elves I had primed to paint for Feb.
  15. The last of three vampires I had primed to paint for Feb.
  16. The second of three vampires I had primed to paint for Feb.
  17. The second of three elves I had primed to paint for Feb.
  18. I was really glad this guy got included in the Bones 5 set. After he sat around unfinished for weeks, I finally got myself in gear and completed him. According to my wife, he looks "full of himself." Definitely a fun one to paint...any critiques welcome.
  19. I guess my theme for Feb. was vampires and elves as I had primed 3 of each and he is the first elf finished.
  20. Here's my first posted work on this forum. I'll be using him to represent one of my two new characters in a Ravenloft campaign that starts this weekend. He's definitely a well designed model that was fun to paint. I made some small modifications around the shoulders (filing it down so it looks like one continuous coat rather than a sleeveless robe). Because he looks so much like Aragorn, I figured it wouldn't really be possible to downplay the similarities. So, I opted to just steer into it instead. 🙂 While painting him up, I even took to calling him "Larrygorn." As usual, I totally chickened out at the last moment and didn't try for any major osl from the torch. Anyway...any comments/critiques are welcome.
  21. He sat for a long time in front of me trying to figure out what colors I wanted to use, then just decided to go with the cliche... Black and red for evil.
  22. Was in the mood to do some vampires this month and she was the first one finished that I primed.
  23. The Ghost of Christmas Past:- The Ghost of Christmas Present:- And the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come:- Presenting a trio of Christmas Ghosts by Reaper (Unfortunately I can't find their catalogue numbers). Despite their eyes being a bit googly, I'm really pleased with how all three of them came out (Particularly Christmas Future). I still don't get why Christmas Present is dressed like a pirate though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  24. Catching a bit of a 1970's version of A Christmas Carol while channel hopping today reminded me that I still had these gals to paint:- I was planning on extending Presents base with putty but mine had dried up (Plus I'm not sure I would've had much success reproducing that wooden plank look anyways), so she's going to look a little weird (Although she already looks a little weird in her pirate cosplay). Just waiting on them to dry, and then, hopefully, I can start painting them tomorrow. Won't get them finished by Christmas, I'll probably still be working on them well into January, but I should be able to finish them eventually.
