  1. Finally finished an NPC mage that plays a recurring role in my campaign. Now that she’s done the party will probably never return to her castle .. fun to paint
  2. Further efforts to produce a dozen dragons this year brought me out to the desert sands where even dragons new to worry about being spotted if they want a decent meal. To this end desert dragons are campflaged to look like the ground from above and the sky from below. Hope you enjoy him
  3. Here is my take on the Dance of Death sculpt from the Bones 4 Kickstarter. I really enjoyed this one, finishing it up this last winter. I saw someone mention somewhere online that they were bummed that the heads didn't exactly line up, but I found it reminiscent of dogs when they are snarling while looking sidelong at each other. Apologies for the scratches and discolorations on the background. I've been meaning to pick up some black cloth to improve that. Thanks for taking a look!
  4. I have done about 15 minis over the past year (starting with the Learn to Paint kit), after taking a 30+ year break from painting lead with Testors enamel. Each one I try to learn or improve one technique. This one I focused on pose & basing (took a little surgery to get rid of the pudding base and shape all the claws). The 'rock' is a chunk of bark. Any comments, critiques, questions or suggestions are welcome. Between this forum and YouTube, I am amazed on the knowledge and information available, in an overall great community. Getting ready for Bones V delivery!
  5. I haven't been painting much Reaper lately, but painted up this beastie for Jimmy The Brush's July community challenge. Everything on the beast is TMM.
  6. I painted most of these figures quickly or experiment when I did so. The exception is the reaper figure. I didn't really paint his face with too much detail, you can't see it due to the hat and what I did paint is sufficient (white eyes, basic colour variation on skin). Lords Duelists They look better in person (I swear, the light makes the skin look washed out more than it is, plus the hair has darker shadows.) Feedback and Critiques are welcome and appreciated.
  7. This is my first mini painting, just finished it tonight. I have a lot to learn, especially the correct way to dry brush. But I followed a Reaper paint kit on the steps for their minis and this is what I came up with. Once I get the hang of the minis themselves I'd like to learn to make custom bases, this one just looks awful as is. For some reason I can't get the picture to show the color true either, it's a much more grayish blue than this bright color that is shown. All in all, I'm pleased with its turn out.
  8. Pulled this guy out of the current round of the Box of Goodwill and painted him up over the course of two evenings. I apologize for the low quality photos, but I've had such low drive to get pictures taken lately that I just wanted to break the ice and get the ball rolling.
  9. Just painted a few figures. First up is an Alligator from Wizkids. His base is just under 5cm in diameter Then some sort of larva, which I like to think of as a kind of "baby mothra" - also from wizkids. It's coloring is based (roughly) off a real-life caterpillar. Lastly, a couple of Cave Worms (Giant Leeches, #44031, Reaper).
  10. I am painting up Reaper's townsfolk jock chick and nerd set for gaming. "Chick" first due to request. Hair and shoes basecoat Shoe colour is spectral glow and peacock green 1:1
  11. I mostly modelled this off Michael Proctor's paint job, and used it as an exercise in learning to push contrast and glaze unlike colours. The photos make the colours seem to little more vibrant than they are in real life. Overall very pleased with the result!
  12. These two were mostly done a while ago (along with their buddy Darkrasp). It's just taken me a while to work up the courage to paint the scroll and spellbook and get them off my shelf of shame!
  13. This was a relatively quick (for me) paint job, experimenting with a very limited pallette. It was intended for an encounter in my Ruins of the Grendleroot 5e campaign, but we're having to play online due to the lockdown. I'm sure I can find a use for it in the future though...
  14. Finished a group of 6 'looters', think they are all from Dreadmere. Happy with em! Very expressive faces and the Bones black is a lot easier to paint then basic bones. Better detail, sharper, etc.
  15. Vandorendra Demon by Reaper Miniatures (02633). This is a bit of an historical work. I actually painted this over 10 years ago, and rediscovered it whilst looking through one of my old online galleries. Being a Reaper mini and somthing I was very proud of at the time, I figured I would upload it here. It was one of the very last mini's I painted before selling off all my paints and and modelling supplies and quitting the hobby (I got back into it recently as a result of the Covid19 lockdown, and I cant for the life of me imagine what ever possessed me to stop). Anyway, I absolutely love this sculpt, as it reminds me of a D&D Marilith and I have a soft spot for iconic D&D beasties. EDIT: Edited the upload in accordance with message board rules, unedited version can be found here: https://www.deviantart.com/daniel-singleton/art/Vandorendra-Demon-Reaper-175059764
  16. I've been trying to work on my encounters for Rangers of Shadow Deep. Here's a bunch of randomness from that work! Oh, Rats! We have: a Warhammer Quest rat, a Frostgrave Wizards II Rat Familiar, a Reaper Bones Rat Swarm, a Reaper Bones Rat Ogre, a Spawn Rat from Dark Platypus Studios, a Warhammer Skaven Giant Rat, and a Rat Mama 3D print from Crippled God Foundry. Oh, Bats! A Bat Swarm from Reaper Bones. An Infestation of Spiders: A Reaper Bones Cavern Spider, a Reaper Bones Spider Swarm, a man-faced spider that may be from Foundry, and a classic Warhammer Quest giant spider. Flies that are Giant: One of the more unusual encounters in Rangers of Shadow Deep. I picked these up from the 40k Kill Team: Rogue Trader boxed set before there were official models.
  17. Hello everyone, I'm just presenting you my version of Rauthurus!
  18. Had some fun with these 2 mimics cant wait to see them on the game table
  19. Really happy with how these guys turned out.
  20. Ten of the 23 minis I’ve painted since my post in March. Monsters = tabletop Humanoids = above tabletop Sinisthreax (14634) is an ultra-complicated sculpt. He’s a noctiny (5e kobold press) recurring villain in my dnd game. You’ll note one eye is normal along with that side of his face. Silas (03010) the human cleric I wanted to dingy up with blood spatter. I imagine his name is Bret and he does not appreciate being called a heal-bot. The Dragonborn (Wizkids), half-orc (red box games) and deep gnome (Bones) are all new players in my dnd game which has grown from 3 players to 7 in rapid order. Narbaz is a tiefling from Red Box Games and I like the OSL I got from below, but not from the staff. I really just got sick of it and called it done.
  21. Here is a Vulture Demon that I have used my newest Iwata airbrush on. I am very pleased with how he came out. He is on a 50mm base and is made of metal from Reaper. I had to bent the wings into an interesting pose, but I like where this guy ended up. :)
  22. Been working on a new game for dungeon crawling, and have settled with predominantly Reaper miniatures for my personal use (and for use in game component imagery, etc.). Second post here, so apologies if I fumble the image stuff a few times.
