  1. I've been working on some really large dragons and some time sensitive commissions as of late. So it was nice to have a client say, "Take your time, no rush" and give me details on what they wanted. I wanted to go with some muted colors on the hyrda. I've burnt myself out on reds, greens and blues for dragon/lizard skin. So I went with a red brown instead. Namely Ruddy Leather and the Redstone triad for the upper scales and the Olive Skintone triad for the belly scales. I painted the left and right side head first, then the middle head and body, then attached them after they were done. Thanks for looking!
  2. Well he's safely delivered now so I can show off. I was requested to do something fantasy with no modern or sci fi so with dragonman becoming popular in 5thed I thought I would go a little scally . I started off with the miniature on a stone base but I had a spare grippli from another project so I added an overbase and a second figure and called the whole thing. I am rather proud of this one. A lot of the elements are subtle until you notice them, and I like the little grippli with his speaking trumpet and bright livery. You can tell he's had to deal with big persons before! Hey you; down here! Enjoy
  3. I got a camera to take better pictures of some of the miniatures I've been painting. I hope my GM can use them!
  4. My take on the classic coloring for notiamat. The process was quite a series of trial and error. This one has been taking up a lot of space on my shelf of shame and over the holiday i decided to make the final push and finish the project! these are just phone photos, i will take better shots and add them when I figure out how to get her into a light box! This is probably the largest (but not the heaviest) project I have tackled to date. i started with an assembled model and wound up tearing it apart to finish the job. I hope people enjoy her. I think it came out reasonably well. I did like the way the stone base came out and also the way the 5 colors are integrated into the body without making the dragon look patchwork or giving one color dominance. i had considered fading the wings through the 5 colors but it distracted too much from the heads. Well she is finished now, I just need to apply some dulcoat and figure out where to display her. Let me know what you think! I will post close ups later
  5. Among my first finished minis of 2019 (finished in, some started...well, this century), a lot didn't fit into any category. Here's the random ones. The Ladies (mostly Reaper) 60036: Visbaronetess Delour Aulamaxa 03845: Mina Splinterheart - River Widows Captain 07012: Dungeon Dwellers: Caerindra Thistlemoor 03061: Anushka, Female Fighter I now realize this is a Warmachine Pirate, not Reaper...but she snuck into the group shot already! The Jason Wiebe tribute miniature, "Johann Rumbleguts". I only noticed the missing part of the base in the photos...time for new glasses. 50268: Bill Foster, Lumberjack A very strange miniature, 02044: Cadwalon. He's supposedly an ugly human but he's Halfling sized! And trailing far behind with all the equipment for these weirdos, the simple Pack Mule
  6. Presenting Mara Frostraven the Anti-Paladin, with Succubus Shield and Ice Sword. Not quite sure why she seems to be shrinking in the pictures. Wished I could've done a bit more with her face, it just seemed so small though! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  7. Painted up the bones blacksmith last night. Blue jeans for everyone!
  8. again same story, so more November work. wanted to try something other than a green cloak on her.
  9. https://www.facebook.com/groups/40821538884/permalink/10157006662588885/ Here is the next Facebook contest. Voting starts now until Friday. Good luck everyone.
  10. Painted this up for Rat13 as part of the Summer Exchange. Wanted to do a limited summer/fall color scheme and I am happy with how he turned out. These are not the best pictures in the world as they were taken quickly before packing him up.
  11. Hello friends! My son and I play Talisman 4th edition all the time. I'ts his favorite game. The figures that come with the game aren't the greatest sculpts. With the Talisman board game having some great themed art i've wanted to get some cool Reaper Bones figures as replacements, paint them up and base them for the game. I've searched Reapers database to find figures that matched the likenesses of the miniatures that come with the game and the art on each character card. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to go with the strictly Bones route. There are some figures in the Dark Heaven Legends line that fit better. The attached is what i've come up with so far. I've included a photo of the original character cards and another photo of the corresponding Reaper figures that i've been thinking about.
  12. Here are the pictures of the Grudge all finished. While there were times that I hated how things looked, in the end I am extremely happy with how he turned out. WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/81903-the-grudge-30014/
  13. I finished up this lovely lady last night. She was wonderfully sculpted by Bob Ridolfi. I really enjoyed the details on her and she was a lot of fun to paint. I always mean to paint a Halloween figure before Halloween but am usually too busy to actually manage it. I got this figure while at Reapercon though and decided it was meant to be, so I put aside a couple of other things to make time for her. I had a lot of technical issues with her due to my clumsiness - I dropped her THREE times which resulted in extensive repair work and having to reattach her to the pumpkin each time. There’s no indentation or any other indication for how she’s meant to be attached to the pumpkin and assembly is not my strong suit so I struggled a bit with that part. The way I have her attached leaves her foot hanging past the base by a good bit so I’ll need to build the base up on a little bit of cork, but she looked the most correct to me this way. (She is currently still sitting on top of foam tape and the craft paint bottle that I used as a holder, I just painted them black for pictures.) I was asked over on facebook how I painted the wings, so I’ll copy that info over here as well: I basecoated with MSP Black Indigo. (That’s one of this year’s Reapercon swag bag paints. I think Nightmare Black would probably be fine to use in its place.) Then I layered up using paints from Nocturna’s Imperial Purple Set. They’re Vallejo paints made for Nocturna and I highly recommend both that set and the Crimson Red set. Both sets come with little painting guides and the purple one walks you through how to do both cold purples and warm purples. I went in the warm purple direction starting from the darkest colours and layering up to the lightest. So Imperial Purple > Purple Hex > Amethyst > Witch Purple > Lipstick. Then I glazed over everything with MSP Gothic Crimson which was also a LE Reapercon paint, I think from the 2016 swag bag. (I can’t think of a replacement for that off of the top of my head but it’s a wine-maroon colour.) Then in the areas that I wanted to darken, like the transitions going back into the shadows and the backs of the wings, I glazed with the Black Indigo.
  14. As these were the minis that got me collecting Reaper stuff again, I thought they deserved some special attention:- From left to right you've got 03787: The Crimson Herald (although mine probably won't be crimson), 03784: D'Vandra Lukesia (yes, I did attach her arm wrong ), 03786: Andowyn Thrushmoor and 03785: Jakob Knochengard. I had some large resin Bayou bases that I thought they'd look good on, though Jakob is kinda dwarfed by his. The Heralds skin is 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Dead Flesh > Flesh Wash > 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Dead Flesh > 1:1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Dead Flesh/Light Flesh. Unfortunately, I forgot his exposed ribs until I'd finished for the day, so they're still at the Flesh Wash stage. D'Vandras skin is 1:1 Flat Flesh/Light Flesh > Flesh Wash > 1:1 Flat Flesh/Light Flesh > 1:1:1 Flat Flesh/Light Flesh/Offwhite. She also got Scarlett Red lips. You can see better where I've attached her arm wrong. For some reason I thought her hand was behind her back (in fact, I initially thought both hands held her shovel behind her back, and spend quite a while trying to get them all lined up), and like a fool didn't check her official piccys first. Andowyns skin is 1:1 Rosy Flesh/Flat Flesh > Flesh Wash > 1:1 Rosy Flesh/Flat Flesh > 1:1:1 Rosy Flesh/Flat Flesh/Light Flesh. She also got Old West Rose lips. Jakobs skin is 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Wolf Grey > Flesh Wash > 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Wolf Grey > 1:1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Wolf Grey/Light Flesh. The severed head uses the same skin recipe as the Herald. Next up, hair! (For those that have it.)
  15. Posted on the wip but as this one is complete I am putting in the show off.
  16. 89012: Lem, Iconic Bard sculpted by Derek Schubert. This guy was supposed to be a speed paint, but I got too interested in putting diamond patterns on his clothes.
  17. 14465: Durin Dwarf Pathfinder Sgt sculpted by Tom Mason. I never would have tried this blue and bronze colour scheme of my own choice, but one of the players in my D&D game requested it, and now I like it.
  18. From ReaperCon swag. I'm still working on my NMM skill.
  19. I know it's not 'actually' a Tarrasque, but it's certainly a pretty good stand in, so that's how I painted it. This is the biggest model I have every painted, and I think it turned out pretty well. Enjoy, I know my D&D player won't...Muhaha!
  20. Right, I hemmed and hawed over the best way to show these off, and sadly, ultimately decided on linking to an external album, rather than uploading 70 some odd photos to Reaper's servers. I've shown off several of these minis/units before over time, but I just got a new phone with a way nicer camera and I thought it would be nice to get the whole thing documented. I'm nowhere near done, I have always enjoyed painting the Undead and will likely continue to add to it forever, but here it is in it's current state. It's based for Kings of War, includes tons of Reaper, Mantic, GW, and a few other manufacturer's in small quantities as well. Enough talk, here's the album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CrTmoTDLmJte6agt9 And here's a sample excerpt: It's about 5 years +/- in the making but includes some minis from my previous war gaming days as well, I think all were repainted though. EDIT: Apologies, some of the models are dustier than I realized. Next time I get shots I'll dust first. There's even a small cobweb on one, but that kinda looks awesome. The dust not so much. Thanks for looking!
  21. Hey there! This is my first post-ReaperCon mini, and I'm using her to practice the various techniques that I learned in various classes. I'll be posting stages along the way, and feedback is very much appreciated! For starters, I've gotten most of the base coats down, and the first thing I practiced was two brush blending on her orange cloak. My plan is to do a bit of freehand along the trim in the light orange of the front skirt, and then use the same trim along the skirt in the dark orange of the cloak. It makes sense in my head, anyway! The chest armor is done with the new Dungeon Dwellers color "Kobold Scale", and I love it. It's got a deep maroon/brown thing going on. Thanks for looking!
  22. I thinking of starting a Warlord face book group, I'm not sure if this would be a good ideal, what do you any of you think about it?
