  1. If you are still waiting on your exchange mini, look at your own risk..sadly my photo skills are lacking in catching all the contrast he has..
  2. This one was for a facebook competition about color. The rules were, basically, don't worry about anything else but color. Do something different with color. I started with the idea of a dress palette of blue, teal, purple, and magenta. Once I had those colors in place, it was a matter of incorporating them in different areas of the model. I went with cotton candy roses and a galaxy print on the wings. The galaxy was a matter of stippling the dress colors (plus a bit of white) back and forth until the effect was convincing. Then I masked the body of the model and flicked a stiff brush at the w
  3. So Reapercon 2019 was great as far as my classes went. I taught 6 courses, all were sold out, most were 2 people beyond capacity (which was fine because I was ready for that possibility) But I feel like 6 was just 1 too many to organize, prep, practice and deliver. All of my classes seemed to be very much enjoyed by those who attended and I got some awesome feedback from some folks. so.. which one to not do... that's a hard question as I enjoyed all of them. first, the must keeps. Water Effects. that class probably could have sold out 2 or 3 times. so many
  4. Yes, a 2020 ReaperCon WIP! And a massive undertaking at that. I'm trying very hard not to nerd out and put this whole project into, er, Project. There's just so many pieces to keep track of, that maybe I'll just use this first post to keep track of things. Some background stuff, starting with a quote from the "Paint a giant robot! Group WIP" where I wrote some of what's planned: You can read the rest of that post here: Paint a giant robot post and a second one to see where I'm going with this: PLA print post in same topic Biggest takeaway is that, while u
  5. To help alleviate the last minute rush order or trying to have them shipped to the hotel, I'm reminding people that personalized badge ribbons are a thing. Because of forum rules we can't post a link to where to order them but if you post here, a certain @ub3r_n3rd fairy may PM you details. The standard size that Reaper makes their ribbons is: Personalized Badge Ribbon 1-5/8"H x 3-1/2"W FAQ What are the ribbons for?! Reaper gives out ribbons for various tasks like joining a faction, taking a class, spending a LOT of money in the Reaper Booth. Some

  7. Let's get this party started! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
  8. Hey guys! I haven't stopped moving since Reapercon. This was my Paint It Pink entry, "Screening Ain't Sexy". Hope y'all like it. I enjoy things that are ridiculous, and applying fake eyelashes to a miniature monster paint pot fit the bill for me. :D C&C is always welcome!
  9. Howdy, ReaperCon Hobby Hijinks Paint by Die Roll, paint for an hour with colors chosen randomly for hair, skin, leather, metal, weapon, accents. Kev! P.S. Click thru for light box pics
  10. Neat sculpts, the next KS is going to be fun I wish Reaper's breakdown of judging criteria actually reflected how high bases score. Looking at their little percentage breakdown, you would never know that the base was so important .

    Names and Faces

While @Pegazus's Forumite bingo helps, I am TERRIBLE about remembering names. I will totally remember your face and what we did three years ago but for the life of me I can't even remember the first letter of your name. I figured I'd make a cheat sheet where people could share a photo and name so people can have a refresher before the con. Prefered name: Ludo Pronoun of Choice: He, It, Dude Huggability: Absolutely
  12. Howdy, Can't seem to glaze for the life of me, Kev! P.S. Click thru for light box pics
  13. Howdy, ReaperCon Lickety Split painting by Tish Wolter, use the model to quickly get a table ready paint job. Kinda Ghoulish, Kev! P.S. Click thru for light box pics
  14. Howdy, I entered this on a lark to get the MSP, Fanatic, and Edmazing ribbons for my ReaperCon badge. To my surprise, I got a bronze medal in the painters category. You must enter to win, Kev! P.S. Click thru for light box pics
  15. Howdy, ReaperCon Hobby Hijinks Sophie Says, paint for an hour while being distracted. It ain't easy, Kev! P.S. Click thru for light box pics
  16. My second ReaperCon diorama started as an idea of having Jason Wiebe's Tiger Lily Mage holding a stop sign. When I started looking through the rest of the Dark Sword Miniatures Critter Kingdoms line, I quickly realized that there was potential to build a multitude of scenes. I planned out a simple story: Tiger Lily stops traffic, which would be another animal of some kind, and another animal crosses the street. The Squirrel on a Turtle was perfectly awesome for the traffic, and the Pretty Princess cat noble was great for the pedestrian. I also had a bunch of resin groceries and dressing that I
  17. I sort of fell off the WIP thread because life made this take longer than I had originally intended. The minis are by Bombshell, and I have to say that they were a pleasure to paint. I will be picking up a few more at ReaperCon, for sure. The scenery is by Secret Weapon, Shadow's Edge, and Woodland Scenics. The base is from a cheap 3 pack from Michael's. All paint is from Reaper. I'll probably end up staining or painting the base, but I haven't yet decided which way to go with it. It feels really good to finish something for the MSPOpen. In hindsight, I probably should've starte
  18. Now that I'm back from Reapercon, I think it is time to post pictures of my entries. This is Monique Denoir, and she was awarded a bronze Sophie in the painters category. I was pleased with the paintjob on her, and I'm happy that she could compete with the many very well painted Reaper miniatures in the competition (every year there are quite a few fantastic entries- this year was no exception).
  19. I wanted to create something to enter in the Paint It Pink competition this year, but I only had about a day and a half before ReaperCon. I knew that this wasn't going to win any awards, but it was important to me that I do something. I saw these goblins with their oversized flag and just went for it. The base is one of Secret Weapon's doric columns.
  20. *Ludo shuffles in followed by a trail of small rocks* FORUMITES FRIENDS UPDATED 8/17/19 So I will be running the Hobby Hijinx corner at ReaperCon again this year. If you are not familiar with the corner, it is where Reaper offers free 1-2 hour paint and take events. We have the classic Paint 'N Take area as always, as well as the Sophie Says, traditional Speedpaints and the new Paint by Die Roll and Bones Mashup. I will be updating this post as details are firmed up. If anyone has any ideas for the current events or new events, please post them here.
  21. So I've been poking at this diorama idea for a couple of years, and it's morphed a bit since I first started it, but I'm thinking that I'm nearing the final composition. But... I'm beginning to second guess myself. So, do you think this tells a good/clear story? Should I remove the adventurers from their bases, or paint the bases to match the floor? Any and all thoughts welcome!
  22. Hey all! Time for the 2019 ReaperCon Forumite Bingo! So, those of you who were on the cards previously, or got a card last year know how the game works, so you can skip the next paragraph. What is Forumite Bingo? It's a convention game I came up that is generally well received so I will do it again this year. The game is just like what a bingo game would be, but rather than calling out numbers to fill your card, you must go around and introduce yourself to members of the forum who are on your card. Say hi to them, and you can cross their box off. Once you've made "bingo
  23. Thank you to Cranky Dog for the idea. Lots of people have been asking what to bring, expect etc. I figured it would be a good idea to list off what I'm bringing and why. PLEASE TRY TO KEEP POST LIMITED TO LISTS AND ON TOPIC QUESTIONS/ANSWERS Notebook If you're taking a class this is almost a must. Even if you aren't having scratch paper is great. If you get some one on one with some of the artist you'll definitely want it. Writing Utensils See above Battery Backup for Electronics The powers that be have mentioned that there will not be power available in the main hall. Since con
  24. Presenting my Lisa Frank velociraptor! I love him! He just screamed at me to be fun colors! And I have to brag n the green stuff world mushrooms, they're pretty fantastic. He's my painters entry for reapercon; I'm motoring on with all my other entries. I'm interested in what you think, so c&c away!
  25. I'd asked after last year's Reapercon who to contact about volunteering. Initially it was Lady Storm but when she retired it changed and I think it was @ReaperAHawk that became the new point of contact. Who, what and where do I need to send a request to help at Reapercon? Posted here in case others were wondering the same.
