Hi guys! Yesterday I visited Salute London, a big wargame convention. I was lucky enough to meet some of my favourite Mini makes in the UK and pick up various orders and Kickstarter Pledges. And Philip from Bears Head Miniatures was nice enough to let me have a prototype of the undead rhino that is featured in his upcoming Kickstarter. I hope I will able to do it justice!

89022: Alahazra, Iconic Oracle as crew for the Grenadier Undead Rhino Captive Carrier. On the base is a Bones Mummy fighting for his unlife with an approaching snake, luckily for him the Rhino tries to crush it. Hey all, the first bones 3 mini I have finished painting (the base will get some love once I got some new supplies). I have to say I don't do a good job getting rid of mold lines but I'm happy it is finished. Ended up not doing much with the stone cause I only have a two grey shades and figured there was enough grey already. Does anyone have a good idea for the elephant? I kind of don't want to make him the same grey but lack imagination. Sorry for the crappy phone pics....I need to clear space for the photo booth.

Also known was "Wait, hippos really are purple?" These guys are some of my favorites from Bones III. Sadly, the "Isle of Dread" style game I was running ended long before these arrived, but I was recently reading "Elephantmen", which was a good inspiration to get these done. King Hippo. His skin was already done when, during a paint jam, a buddy pointed out, Hippos are not pure grey. I had to greenstuff back in his necklace, and carve out a nostril that wasn't cast properly. I only noticed mid-paint. And of course the zoom shows the mold lines I thought I got... Obadiah Horn. The simplest one, but I like his stance. Ebony Hide, the Elephant. I went with the obvious Zulu theme for him. I couldn't figure out if his club was meant to be a bone or a wooden knobkerrie, but I went with wood.

I finally have six fighting CAV armies - some more fight-y than others. Some have enough models with enough variety to meet diverse challenges, and some are just barely legal if you squint right. Case in point? Here's my newly painted Ritterlich army! Notice a complete lack of infantry, aircraft, fighting vehicles, transports, and for that matter, primary squads.* But recon and artillery? Got that *covered*! Anyway, here's a glimpse of my boys in blue. They won't see much growth until next year when CAV KS II gets here, but they will see play because, hey, rhinos right? * As-is, I could only build two legal attack squads, both of which revolve around a rhino and a cataphract with either a recon model or a fire support model to get it up to a full squad of 4. Truth be told, I'm honestly thinking I'll re-purpose some of these cougars as Cougar IIs - something between a Cougar and a Jaguar, just for the sake of variety.

Finished up my Luna Wolf Rhino this morning, several things I wish I'd done better but it's going to have to do for now. Further weathering will be done at the end of my entire army painting so I can try to keep it consistent. Anyway, C&C is heartily welcome!

I've started painting minis again, since this winter. I used to do some in my twentys but did not take the hobby seriously as i do now. For the last few months i've been furiously looking for my old models without success, until today! They are ral partha pewter models from the 1990's. I did not remember i had the rats , the neanderthal and the rhino, it was quite a surprise when i found them. The paint is chipped but i will remove it & redo'em. The wizards and the storm giant were done without primer, had no idea i should do that back then. All the models were done without the use of a magnefying glass, wich i do now. It's interesting seeing one's past work from 20 years ago. I wonder if i should repaint my very first ones or keep'em as is? This is a trip!
