  1. I finally got around to doing some basing on my take on reaper's Gauth, in bones I do not know the SKU unfortunately, but I think it is from Bones 4? Anyway, I tried to paint him up as a White dragon, but I also wanted to keep it interesting, so I highlighted from three different colours on separate parts of the hide, mostly pale purple, grey on the central spines down his back, and turquoise on the belly! Take a look, let me know what you think, c&c's more than welcome!
  2. Having recently started a pathfinder campaign I needed some miniatures suitable to use as Bandits or town guardsmen. After looking for a bit, I settled on the Bones Black Maggotcrown Men At Arms. Unfortunately, when they arrived, having ordered them from eBay, the spearman's weapon was mis-moulded, so I had to replace it with the spear from an old GW high elf. C&C's are more than welcome, hope people like my take!
  3. I thought it would be cool to show off an older model I painted, this one is a vintage Space Marine Captain, painted in the colours of my own Chapter, the Sons of Poseidon. Comments and criticisms always wanted, let me know what you think! The model was painted using Army painter paints.
  4. As I mentioned in the thread on the Captain with Terminator Honours, here is the best painted Dreadnaught I have done, the trident symbol on the front is the chapter insignia. Let me know what you think!
  5. I saw the Rocky miniatures, and with how cute they are I could not resist getting one to use as a dragon to send against my players. As such, here is my take on the Flying Rocky, as a juvenile Red Dragon! Comments, criticisms and advice as ever more than welcome!
  6. It's been some time since I last posted here, but I recently got and painted this WizKid beholder! Comment, criticisms and advice will be gratefully received! The mini in the background I am not quite ready to post as I have not based it properly yet!
  7. It's been ages since I posted on the forums, so I decided I needed to get back to my roots.. As such I got myself one of what I remember as the very first miniature I ever painted, way back in '89! I haven't decided on all of the colours to use, but one thing I knew from the start was that back then I did the mohawk in all the rainbow, and this one I just had to do the same! Well, thiese are my progress pics so far, I don't want to rush this as it's honestly now a really important mini to me. Comments and advice for how to proceed will be gladly accepted!
  8. I have been away from painting for what seems like ages, but the other day I went back to Duke Gerrard and completely repainted him. I kept it pretty simple, and the face is as basic as they come (I could not even paint in his eyes) but I think overall he is better. The main armour was painted using the palest purple I could find, a craft paint called Iris, followed by a simple wash with army painter purple tone quickshade ink. The cloak I used Golden yellow followed by a wash of army Painter Strong Tone.
  9. It has been ages since I last posted anything I painted, and I realised that I had not posted this miniature to the forums! It's a fairly simple take on the battleguard golem from Reaper, and I tried to do it entirely in NMM. Well, here's the pictures, C&C's always appreciated!
  10. Having now finished my Kaladrax Reborn, I realised there were a few other miniatures I have painted recently that I have not gotten around to posting on the forums! Well, here they are, First up is the human fighter from the dragons don't share. This one was fun to paint, and I painted the shield freehand in what I thought was a very knightly style, quartered with a hawk/phoenix emblem in gold. Next is the bones version of Duke Gerard. He was more challenging, due to my decision to try and paint him in white armour with black detailing, again, the cross emblem on his shield was done freehand. And last but not least is Dain Deepaxe, The way I painted him was fairly typical, but I think he has come out well.
  11. Okay! I now have the paints I will require, as well as the superglue and the brushes!! On Tuesday morning I will be starting my own Kaladrax Reborn challenge! The rules I shall be following are the standard. 1: No brushes will be used that are larger than a standard size 0. Also no airbrushing or finger painting is permitted!! 2: I will have seven days from my posted start time to finish the work. This will be established with a photo showing date and time on my computer screen. 3: All parts of the miniature will be fully painted. Again, all paint will be applied using a brush no larger than a size 0. 4: No prep work will be done to the miniature before the start time beyond washing, dry-fitting, and possibly boiling to correct warpage. 5: All items that come in the retail box must be painted. In this case it is all of Kaladrax and his base. I think that is the full rules for a Kaladrax challenge! My starting pic will also have images of the brushes I will use. Oh, one last thing.. My Kaladrax will NOT be painted as a Dracolich/Ravener.. I plan on making him a Wyrmwraith, as I have not seen anyone do him as one yet. :) Ok, pre-game chatter will be more than welcome!!
  12. After a couple of days intense, yet incredibly satisfying painting, I have finished this peice of work, the mighty Narthrax! I have painted him in a fairly traditional scheme for a Red Dragon, and he is going to be used in a pathfinder campaign I plan on starting fairly soon. Anyway, onto the pictures! The one thing I am not certain on is the stonework for his base, the rest, I think looks pretty good.. Hopefully the pictures will show that. My lighting at the moment is horrendous.
  13. Hey all, as I mentioned in the show off thread for my Hydra, my next major miniature to paint is my take on Narthrax, in Bones. Well I just started tonight, having assembled the dragon, but not having glued him to his base, as can be seen below. For tonight, all I have done is to give him a simple black undercoat, using tube acrylic.. Unfortunately right now I do not have access to Reaper's own paints, but I make do! This took me an hour and a half, though not constantly painting, using a size 0 brush. This is because I am also using this as practice for a Buglips challenge at some point!! I already have a Kaladrax, but before I start on it I need to get more of certain paints, as well as superglue to put the beast together! Anyway, here is a picture of Narthrax having been undercoated! I will be doing more on him tomorrow, with regular updates and pictures, hopefully it will prove interesting for people!
  14. It has been a while since I last posted anything and so here is my latest work! The reaper bones hydra! He was a fun one to paint and good practice for my next major mini, Narthrax. Well here he is!
  15. Here is my latest work, the metal Reaper Warlord Marilith snake demoness. I tried to give her an otherworldly appearance with smooth blue skin and lava-orange serpentine scales. For her clothing/armour I used gold as it has something of a Mayan or Aztec look.
  16. Hey guys, I have another mini to show off! This time, I used the Pathfinder Red Dragon (89001), but painted it up as a green! C&C's always appreciated! Hope you like it!
  17. Hey again, after some work, I have now finished another miniature to the point where I am happy to show it off! This time it is the Reaper Bones Griffon miniature, I have been fairly traditional with this one, using Army Painter Warpaints and Quickshade Inks. I think I have done a fairly good job on this one, comments, criticisms, and advice all gratefully received!!
  18. Hey again guys. After the fun I had painting my original fire demon, I just had to do another. It was only after I had finished I realised the irony of what I had painted. It's not GW, but it is still a Golden Demon! :)
  19. It's been a few days since I last posted new work, and now I have three miniatures to show off. First up is my take on Sir Conlan.. I kind of wanted to make him look as if he could be a hero or a villain, to have some ambiguity in the paint scheme regarding his possible allegiance, I also attempted to make his sword's blade look as if it is made of an amethyst crystal. Next up is my take on Malek, the necromancer. My initial idea was to try and make him look as if he could be heroic, but it did not necessarily work for that, he still looks evil to me, but a LOT brighter than most necromancers!!! And lastly, Goldar, the male Barbarian. I just liked the sculpt of the miniature, and tried my hand at giving him face paint and a tattoo on his back, all freehand. Feel free to look, Comments and advice are always happily received!! (edit, close up of barbarian's face added.)
  20. Hey again. This time what I am showing off is the Reaper Bones Fire Demon I have painted. Looking around most pictures of painted ones of this mini I have found are all in reds and blacks.. I decided I wanted to be different. So instead it is dark blue with green flames.
  21. Ok, I was looking at my Fire demon and something about it, as cool as it was, felt /off/ to me. After thinking about it, and looking at some other threads, I realized what the problem was. The flames didn't look to be producing any light! A little work later, and here is the Fire demon again, now with what I hope works as object sourced lighting.. I think that's what the effect's called! C&C's as always greatly appreciated.
  22. Hi there, I just found this forum and recently started to paint reaper miniatures. This is two of the first things I have painted in years! (edit to include full mini names)
  23. Ok, here's the latest work I have done. I got the excellent Reaper Bones Minotaur miniature, and it took me a bit of thinking as to how best to paint him up, it's an awesome miniature and I really wanted to do it justice.. Then I watched The Neverending Story, and what caught my attention was Atreyu talking about hunting the purple Buffalo, it gave me the spark of an idea, so I looked on google for images of a purple buffalo for inspiration.. I found the following image, and I was well and truly inspired http://www.tracyrosemoyers.com/html/p7IGM_images/fullsize/Purple_Buffalo-24x27-$1095_fs.jpg Two days later, and I have finished painting the miniature, and here are the pictures! Comments and advice are always welcome! :)
  24. Another day, another miniature for me to post. This one I was a little unsure of if I should post, but with how nice everyone has been I think I should! This one is the Pirate Sophie miniature, I saw it on Ebay and knew I had to have it! I have tried to make the parrot as realistic as I could, and for the photos I took heed of the advice given by Chaoswolf in the thread about my Wyvern, and have tried to get better light, though it has not been easy with my resources! Anyway here's the pictures, comments and advice are gratefully received!!
  25. After taking the time to look more closely at the Wyvern I had painted, I was not quite happy with how it looked, so I have redone the wings, claws and belly scales, as well as using a wash to pick out the pupils of the eyes. Take a look at the pictures below, comments and advice are always welcome! (edit: I forgot to add the pictures to show off the head and eyes!!)
