Presenting the Gentlefolk Lancer, part of the Servants of the Engine faction in the game Twisted by Demented Games. Pretty pleased with how he turned out, his colour scheme is (Very loosely) based on a Napoleonic-era Spanish uniform I found online. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

These are the medium and small Xairbots. I was aiming for a clean future-tech look with more plastic and colored parts, and no chrome or rust. The smaller bot is really small, and cleaning mold lines off used a lot of words I can't repeat here.

They're colony killers. You send them in when you want the enemy base and any feeble defenders protecting it razed to the ground. These scuttling terrors can chop enemy armors in half in close quarters or pound them to pieces from a distance. Using a variety of modular payloads, the ScorpionMech can tailor its weapons suite to the mission, whether it be cold, quiet up-close killing, napalm and gatling cascades at ballistic distances, or missiles beyond the horizon. Waldo and PugBots shown for size ref) Though they usually make their way overland to the target, there are rumors of ScorpionMechs deploying from orbit with bolted-on belly packs containing fuel and maneuvering thrusters. The thought of an orbital insertion of these lethal machines is terrifying, but not beyond reason. There is even a confirmed case of a jetpack-equipped ScorpionMech being used to rip a pirate raider's ship to pieces during an attempted boarding action. Needless to say, scratch one pirate ship. Viper suit pilots may try and put a brave face on it, but when faced with a ScorpionMech, they know that the best place to be is somewhere else.

Inspirobot is a bot for inspirational quotes. It gets a background, and throws words together with somewhat decent grammar (usually). Occasionally it will hit a legitimately good combo. Often they don't make sense. Sometimes the results are downright creepy (and some are inappropriate). http://inspirobot.me/ ^^ The link. Examples! I chose tame ones as to not scare you off. Sooo..... What craziness are you getting? Worst I had was the 'bot telling me to get preggo, and that certain erm, acts, could cause zombies. Join me in laughing at this!

I chopped up a legless t800, an ashigaru head, a veritech, some deadzone arms, and soviet legs, and got this odd robot.

Presenting the Tin Man, another member of the Oz Gang from the game Twisted by Demented Games. While I did keep him fairly basic, I'm happy with how he turned out. Unfortunately my inability to photograph metallics properly has kinda ruined my piccys of him. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Had a lot of fun painting this one, I did have to leave out some of the finer details though, there's little, tiny stitches all over him that I could barely see never mind paint! Presenting the Storm Knight from Kingdom Death. Second time tackling this one (I like it that much!), I think I prefer my newer, colourful version but I still struggled to do a decent job on his cloud cape, I think it needs more time and effort put into it than I have the patience for. One of my goals for 2020 is to get at least one unit of figures painted each month. This month's unit is some XairBots (Bones Black 49012, 49013 & 49014) that I painted up for the Nordic Weasel Game Renagade Scout. These are speed paints that took a couple nights from start to finish.

"Greetings. I hear tell. As some of you in this town. Fancy yourselves Tinkerers." Robots in hats are always great. And I've done enough shiny new 'bots for a while. So here's a rusty bucket-of-bolts in a battered bowler! Tried to make any remaining paint look battered and chipped. Also, here is M4R1A, clearly a Metropolis reference. But I got an idea in my head and made her into a clockwork angel with watch-part wings and a double halo of glory. Guest appearances by 91002, Hellstromme, 80031, Decker Lugstampf, and 59009, Mad Scientist (Female), who have already gotten their own Weird West posts elsewhere.

There was a sale, so I got a sweet robot lady from Bombshell! I painted her gold and silver, "Metropolis"-style. Then I remembered I had some shiny gold chainmail rings, and parlayed those into haloes. BUT IT WASN'T ENOUGH. I used to live in a house whose former occupant was a watchmaker, and he left behind a bunch of stuff neither his heirs (if any) or the landlord cared for, so I am rich in watch parts. While I was digging through the collection for suitable embellishments for Wyrmgear, I came across a bunch of watch hands, and those would be perfect for mechanical feathers. (Side note: I love the little wings on WotC Modrons, but hate that they have bird feathers instead of something more metallic.) Gluing them on was a challenge, but it got done! Then I found the perfect bit to use as a shoulder joint: And I was able to affix them to that 'backpack' on her back. Here she is with some sort of Celestial detector/sceptre/gauge. Glory be!

Presenting an Android Flower-seller, part of the Servants of the Engine faction in the Twisted game universe. Had a lot of fun painting this one, although given a second chance I probably would've given her brighter flowers, and luckily you can't see the terrible bit of mold slip going on across her bonnet from this angle. Hydra's Robot Legion is fantastic. These are considerably taller than 28mm scale, and are big even on a heroic-scale standard. These 'bots are how we learned tinkering with the First Law is a bad idea. Older models popular for security applications came with rheostats that would adjust "how harmful does a thing have to be to be Harm" and "how human is Human, anyway?" This allowed them to rationalize the use of nonlethal force to protect Earth (and Company) interests. Hoooo boy. THAT was a lesson Earth learned in short order. Half of the Kuiper Belt is under the Moravec sphere of influence now. Here is a Heavy Support Legionnaire on patrol with a Neural Inhibitor. Be prepared to prove you are, in fact, human. or it will shoot. Documents are not sufficient as proof. And an Optio out with a Legionnaire on perimeter duty. Their commanding officer, the Centurion (memetic viruses have become widespread on the outer settlements, and some of the robots have developed...eccentricities.) And the entire hegemony under the literal iron fist of their gracious hierarch, Queen Mechanika. ALL THE BOTS!

Originally a robotic housemaid, she gained self-awareness and now robs from the rich to keep herself fuelled. A lot of fun to paint but I think I was a bit messy in places. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Got a new steampunk mini on the table:- The Gentlefolk Highwaywoman (from the Twisted mini range), a robotic housemaid turned gun-wielding bandit. So far I've painted up her face, hands and bit of thigh (Oily Steel > Black Wash > Oily Steel > Aluminium > Black Wash), the gun barrels were done at the same time but didn't get further than the 2nd layer of Oily Steel. Next, her torso was based in Brassy Brass, and her hair and gun were based in Bronze, it was all given a Brown Wash. I think there's more of her mechanical parts on show then I originally thought, so I'll give her a good look over tomorrow.

Presenting the Gentlefolk Blacksmith, a heavy-hitting Servant of the Engine from the game Twisted. He's part of my Steampunk People WIP thread. Been looking forward to painting this one for ages (mainly because he resembles Tick-Tock from Return to Oz, that's also why he's mostly bronze). Unfortunately, I did attach his chimney a little skewed, but I think I'm liking how it looks. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Elpagg glanced over over the unconscious woman; she'd make an excellent prize to deliver to the cap'n. They would probably get a decent price for her at the slave markets of Nepo-7. Well, if she lived that long... The raider shook his head to clear his thoughts. Best to concentrate on right now, he thought, as he continued to loot her cabin. She had jewelry and some tech equipment that would bring in a nice pile of credits; all of this was haphazardly piled on the table as he continued going through the storage compartments of her cabin. Suddenly, he heard a slight noise come from the other room. Damn! He should have made certain she was alone before he started to ransack her quarters. He drew his pistol and began to approach the other room. As he did so, he saw a small female shape outlined in the light coming through the open doorway. He grinned to himself, this was getting better and better. "Come on out here, girlie. I promise I ain't gonna hurt ya" The figure remained motionless for what seemed like ever, but was probably only 30 seconds, then took an uncertain step forward, rising it's hands at the same time. Something screamed a warning in the back of Elpagg's mind, but it was already too late. The brilliant flash of light and the searing pain from his chest both registered in his brain within milliseconds of each other. The ELz-1 personal protection droid scanned the raider and confirmed that he was dead. Performing the same scan on the body of her mistress confirmed that she was still alive, and only slightly injured. Ellie, as her mistress called her, set about securing the cabin against any further intrusion, before running it's first aid programs on the unconscious woman. This is a Bubblegum Crisis robot figure from Ground Zero Games that I snagged out of a BoGW a while back, and finally decide to paint. I wanted 'her' to be a little old and dinged up looking, so I did a lot of weathering to the figure. I hope you like her!

I work for a large movie company and wanted to reproduce one of their animated characters. Here's the result. This little guy is printed in PLA: The arms and legs are posable. I printed small links with a hole in the center and ran floral arrangement wire through them. I cut the wire from the legs inside the body and connected an LED for the eye. The wire is plastic coated so you have to sand paper off the plastic coating to make them conductive. You can see the wire connections inside the cup. At the local craft store they sold strings of miniature lights so I picked up several on sale. You get a battery holder with circuitry to regulate the current to the LED and as a bonus it has a timer to turn the LED on for six hours out of every twenty four. For convenience I drilled a hole for the wire and glued the battery holder to the bottom of the cup. The switch is accessible without taking the thing apart. It was a commissioned piece for our CTO. As he said "It's all about the toys!" Thanks for looking :)

Here is another of my Imperial Assault figures. IG-88. I followed the Sorastro guide, which involved drybrushing, washes, drybrushing, etc. 4 or 5 cycles. Then painting on some forced highlights, then a blue wash on one side and a red one on the other. This was fast, and a little sloppy. But fast. C&C Welcome.

This is Patrick Keith's 50246: Marie, She-Bot, famous from the old Fritz Lang movie "Metropolis," and two other robots Johnny Lauck sold adjacent to his sci fi Salvage Crew. I painted them up in less than an hour. WIP thread here.

So my husband is running a game this Saturday and he asked "Do you have any robot figures?" and I said "Ummm, let me get back to you." Happily, I had on hand a copy of Patrick Keith's 50246, "Marie She-Bot" familiar to film aficionados from Fritz Lang's seminal "Metropolis". I also had a handful of little robots from Johnny Lauck's Salvage Crew. So I glued them together and primed them and painted them very simply with metallic paints. The whole thing took less than an hour. For metallics I use the principles I learned for gilding: Everything has a color underneath it, usually a rust-red for gold and a black or grey for silver (or aluminum or palladium -- I never could bring myself to gild with something that could decay as fast as silver leaf). I originally planned to paint the Metropolis robot gold, so I primed her with Red Iron Oxide. Then I did the same with a little monkey-robot from Johnny Lauck (ignore the two little guys to the right; I didn't get further than this with them and I plan to paint them like plastic anyway, if I get to them before Saturday). Then my husband pointed out that if I painted the Metropolis robot silver she could stand in for a Moonsilver Alchemical later on. D'oh! ... Okay, so now I was going to see what silver paint looks like over brick red. For science! I washed over the two red robots with dark paint to bring out the details: Burnt Umber on the little monkeybot, as is normal for under a warm color like gold. But then I used straight Carbon Black on Maria She-Bot since she was going to be cold silver, and black generally looks cold under other colors. I notice that she looks just like the Chinese lacquer sculptures I've seen around, a point worth remembering to try some other time, perhaps. I also painted black primer on the servo on the left, another Johnny Lauck 'bot. I had to glue that one to a fender washer as it had a tendency to topple over to its left; otherwise its base had been the same size as the other Lauck robots. That's also why it appears now; its glue was setting while I was priming the others. (Once again, ignore the two on the right.) I then took my good #2 Winsor and Newton series 7 brush and drybrushed silver metallic paint onto the armed servo Lauck 'bot and Marie, She-Bot. ... I find using good brushes helps give a lot of control and evenness, even for this. This wasn't the really scrabbly kind of drybrushing anyway, more like stroking tiny amounts of unthinned paint over the high points of a countoured surface. Anyhow, you can see the different color effects based on what went under the silver paint, black on the left and brick red on the right. You can also see the detail level difference between Johnny Lauck's sculpt and Patrick Keith's. Then I did the same thing, only using gold metallic paint, to the Johnny Lauck monkey robot. I painted their bases solid black. Normally I like a base with at least a neutral grey with shadows, but I was in a hurry and the black contrasted better with their metallic shininess. I also added a few details, red eyes on the Lauck robots and a glowing yellow inside the armed Lauck bot's gun barrel (Which I see I didn't take pictures of. Need to fix that for the Show Off thread). And there you have it. Really really fast quick and dirty robot painting. Total painting time: About forty minutes. (With prep time, work time is probably an hour, or a smidgen more)

Decided to do a quickie for the Marie She-bot from Metropolis. Went with the burnished metal look and a quick sculpted base to resemble concrete. The eyes didn't come out as piercing as I wanted, so might have to quickly revisit that

Fresh off the paint table, some Rogues from the Stars from...well, "Rogue Stars". They're very retro, and would definitely work for "Slipstream" or "Rogue Stars" as well. The assembled Rogues: The Captain (though he strikes me as more of a Rogue Trader: The Rogue: The Lionman: Sniper-Bot: The Floyd-Bot: Big Bot: The Dominar...er, Crime Lord: Security Officer: The Pirate: Turtle-Turle:

It's been procrastinated for way too long. These are the robot miniatures from my Robo Rally board game. Finally gotten a semi decent paint job. Poor Twitch has been lost under a couch somewhere, and has been replaced by a 3d printed version of Borderlands' Claptrap. He'll get a greenstuffed arrow-like base to match the others when I eventually get to it. But at least they have some colour! :)

This one took a long time to complete. I claimed it finished two times, but got more feedback. Fixed a little here, added a little there.. And as they say; All good things are three. :)
