  1. Started converting my bones v robot kobolds. The idea was to arm them with scifi weapons to use them as a little starship boarding party. The plan is to do a total of 9 when ever they hit retail, all with different weapons. So far axe guy has a plasma gun and a samurai banner. Then there's rocket launcher kobold Knife kobold has a flame thrower.
  2. The challenge is 30 minis in 30 days (not necessarily 1 mini each day.) I've been prepping a few figures each week since August, and this year's theme is Science Fiction: Team Terminator: XairBot (Small) 49012 XairBot (Medium) 49013 CyberReavers I (2) 50354 CyberReavers II (2) 50355 CyberReaver 845 Enforcer 847 Team Survivor: HESCO barriers (2) Starship Generator 80053 Tess, Adventuring Heroine 49020 Slade, Cyborg Hero 49018 Nova Corp:Female 80013 Nova Corp:Soldier 80012 Terrain: Gothic Tank Traps/objective markers (2) 3d printed scatter terrain Crates (Large and Small)(2) 77248 Jersey Barriers (2) More Stuff: IMEF: Reggie Van Zandt 80017 Viceroy Enforcers (3) 30029 Starship Generator 80053 #2 Obligatory Fantasy: Cats&Catacombs Dreadmere wight 44022 Benedict Baker dark elf w/bow 1128 Liriel Silverlocks 2458 DGS games female Not shown: Blood Nebula Mercenary 49017, Power Generator 72611 (2)-- still in blister packs. That gets me to 30-ish, depending on whether I count things like the barriers and crates as single pieces or not. Still working on getting the last few pieces washed and primed and identified.
  3. This is not the first set of bots I've painted, but I get to keep these. They're a lot of fun with interchangeable arms and accessories.
  4. I painted two packs of the larger robots from the viceroy enforcers pack. They're mostly cyberist orange and blue titanium
  5. Here's a pair of robots I built to use for this is not a test. They are a mix of privateer press cyriss bodies, assorted gw, Mantic, reaper, and historical bits, and some wire. Was trying to play up the corrosion and damage in the paint.
  6. This has been a while in the making, going back to Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) when I was 3 or 4.... Anyway, I've invested "a bit" in "a couple" of big stompy robot kickstarters over the last few years. Over the last year a few parts of a couple of them have arrived, and recently I've had the urge to get started on painting some of them. Here are a few of the bots to paint. You see the early bird Ace from the Bones CAV kickstarter (in white), and the Bonus add-ons to the Wave 1 portion of the Palladium Robotech RPG Tactics kickstarter (in grey (Zentraedi) and brown/beige (UEDF)). I've also get Heavy Gear Blitz coming at some point. Oh and I do have the Oathsworn robots too...hmmm And I wouldn't be surprised if there are some others I've completely forgotten about. Oh, like the limited edition convention Robotech figs coming..... So as you can see, there are a few very different manufacturing techniques here (Bones, hard plastic, resin and metal so far), and ,from what I've looked at, painting bots is a bit different, so I'm going to go through the process and see how they come out. As I'm currently painting some bugbears and working on my fall exchange, my first steps with these will be assembling so regult battle pods and watching videos on painting bots. If anyone has any links on bot painting or suggestions on assembling these Robotech (like superglue vs plastic glue...) please feel free to post here. I'm also undecided on the realistic vs cartoony painting of the robotech stuff....thoughts?
  7. Retro Raygun robots, quick paintjob, sometimes simplest is bestest, just used reaper pure silver and washed it with armypainter strong tone ink. then did some detail work with a few other colors.
  8. These are what I finished painting this year, a year that was somewhat abbreviated by world events. Really, this is what I painted in the last six months, since political dismay kept me from the miniatures table for approximately eight months after the last US Presidential election. This year I painted my first Reaper Warlord figures who were also my first oversized werewolves, 77754 the Rageclaw Slayer, and 77755, Aislinn, Shadow Tracker. Nearly everything I painted was for the White Wolf World of Darkness and Exalted. 9. This is one of my planned dioramas for ReaperCon. It is going to be a post apocalyptic 'bot shop featuring Bombshell Miniatures's Maelee and an assortment of robots. Right now the structure is built and partially painted with some weathering started. Still need to put a sign together but other than that, all construction is completed. What color do you suggest for the bricks/stone? The walls are a faint blue which is hard to see in the photos and will have rust effects like the roof. These are most of the 'bots as well as the workbench. The Maelee I am using is in my travel paint kit so I did not get her out for the photo. Do you like the two toned 'bot or should I go with a solid color? Any other suggestions would be welcome!
  10. Stopped by my local gaming store yesterday and they had 2 packs of the BSC Alpha. I didn’t get them in the KS, so snapped them up. I have s bunch of bits laying around and no real purpose for the BSC so just played around a bit.
  11. Swarming out from several enormous dimensional Rifts, a horde of giant invaders, so different in shapes and sizes that they couldn’t belong to the same species, had apparently decided the time had come to bring Humankind to extinction. They got damn close to it too! Two years went by after the first invasion, years in which two thirds of the Earth’s population was wiped out. In order to survive, every single nation left aside any ideal of independence and united under the flag of the Earth Federation, dividing cities into Metropoleis and Refuges and attempting any possible strategy to stay alive… War Titans: Invaders Must Die, actually tells us a story deeply rooted in a distant period preceding the birth of our Sun, thus revolutionizing the Darwinian concept of human evolution. Our tale makes us discover the Shik’har, a magnificent race of space warriors. For an incredibly long time, the Shik’hars have fought triumphantly against any single species, creature concealing the seeds of evil, and has banished them one by one inside inaccessible dimensional prisons.
  12. About this project Take on the role of an elite Machinist and drive your Wreckers in full metal, robot on robot combat! Control the Nodes or annihilate their Wreckers to deal life-threatening Feedback damage to your rival; either way only one Machinist will walk away victorious. To demonstrate that we can take the process from end-to-end, the 3 miniatures below are production-ready miniatures, all in metal, which have been professionally painted by the incredibly talented Seb Lavigne of DARK IRON STUDIO And here we have the 11 models that we have had sculpted to date by Romeo Salbatecu and Ben Wolsey-Charles: In case you are wondering how large these are, we have created a handy reference guide to a selection of Large, Medium and Small Wreckers. There are no prizes for guessing what size the Huge models will be... they're going to be HUUUUUUUGE!!!!! Our Core Pledge offers everything you need to become a Machinist and enter the exciting world of The Third Law... The Third Law is a 28mm "heroic" scale skirmish game set in a dark near future. Rival programmers (Machinists) compete against each other in arena combat using teams of robots (Wreckers). The objective of the game is to knock out the rival Machinist before they knock you out. Machinists are effectively you; they are hard-wired into the interface to allow them to better control their Wreckers. Being hard-wired in means that they suffer Feedback damage and there are two ways of doing this. 1) Smashing up one of their Wreckers. When a Wrecker takes too much damage on the battlefield it becomes trashed. The controlling Machinist suffers Feedback from this whilst the Pit Crew haul the Wrecker off and set about repairing it. 2) Controlling Nodes on the battlefield. There are several Nodes on each battlefield, and controlling an active one at the end of a turn will cause Feedback to the rival Machinist. However the Nodes aren't always active. The good news is that they follow a series of logic rules, allowing you to plan your in-game strategy. Customise your team to your own individual play style, balancing resource generation of speed, aggression and defence. Then enter the battlefield and compete against your rivals as you seek fame and glory. With army selection, multiple Machinists for each Faction, upgrades for both Machinists and Wreckers and different scenarios, the replay factor of The Third Law is truly limitless. 13. Figures for one of my favorite boardgames! I already had a set painted but I messed up the varnishing so I had to get a new set and this is the result.
  14. When the weather outside is crappy... I sit in my nice basement and paint. First up, 59015: Automatons by Bob Ridolfi. It wasn't just that the iron men were indestructible, it was that when you looked into the fires of their eyes, something looked back...
  15. APCs for my 15mm Human marines: And medium tanks for my Robot Legions: All vehicles are converted Matchbox cars.
  16. Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that we have launched a little Kickstarter project for some sci-fi robot models. These were actually the first models we ever made, but we never really did anything with them, and now we'd like to get production moulds made for them. So, if they look like the sort of thing you'd be interested in, take a look here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oathsworn/oathsworn-miniatures-sci-fi-wargames-robots Thanks! Michael
  17. I've primed and cleaned most of the box set, but these three really jumped out at me so they're the first to get some paint. A cruel prison warden and his two metal enforcers And just for fun a shot of a little robot on robot violence.
  18. DeadTech Aliens came to earth during Wild West. These robots took over the bodies of the dead and are ready to fight. Here are the first few. I like them, but some sculptings looks like fail casts. Especially the hands. I'm really thinking about filing more details into the hands, if it is possible...
  19. I noticed on the Store Poster on the CAV HQ site, it refers you back to CAV HQ. would it not make sense to post some of the renderings over there as well as have a link to this sites message board for more info as well?
  20. Now for something completely different.... I'm putting together a piece for my wife while I wait for paints to finish out Jazzy's elf/fairy/lutanist/whatev! The Bladesinger ended up being too large for Munchkin usage, and she and Jazzy never could decide who the piece belonged to anyway so... Here's to round #2! This will probably be a 2-piece game piece starring Victoriana and her robot companion/butler/keeper of the cheese HLpR Bot, both of Bombshell Miniatures. My wife loves all things Jane Austin, all things Victorain, all things Tea Time... You get the idea. She likes to tease me about painting tiny things, then I remind her of the time I walked into her watching Pride and Prejudice on tv while crocheting a purse and sipping on herbal tea... ANYWAY! This should be right up her alley and she's excited about it. I'm considering several ideas for basing (I'm getting addicted to basing). I've asked and looked at examples of miniature rugs, wooden staircases, cobblestone streets, etc. However, I was digging through my ever-increasing bin of things I've ordered but haven't used yet, and came across my Army Painter field flowers. I may end up doing a picnic for a lovely spring day... All in the size of piece used for Munchkin (yeah! right!) At any rate, here are the pics of Victoriana and HLpR Bot in all their shiny metal glory! The Lovely Lady: The Fussy Assistant: Partners in Crime (and tea!): I'm going to mess around with a few ideas, and am going to have some fun with this. I've got some Sculpey I haven't used yet (the oak tree was Milliput), and I may try to whip something together. Here's an idea: I'm considering using Sculpey over these 2 wooden disks to build up a small mound with grass, flowers, and possibly some gingham blanket somewhere on the thing... Maybe just a small corner to indicate the picnic part. (For reference, the large disk is around 40mm) We'll see what happens!
