  1. Against all expectations, I'm getting back into 40K. This is because, against all expectations, some fine friendly folks are opening a FLGS that's actually local to me. That is, it's in the small town I live in. Activity is mostly been MTG and other card games along with 40K. Since they are just starting out they don't really have any terrain to play with. As it happens, I dont' have lot of stuff for 40K unless the battle is being fought on a planet that just happens to resemble the Ethiopian countryside. However, I have way too much "possible terrain stuff"/junk laying about so I figure I could knock some things out for people to use at the store. Here are some trees I put together (bases will be done later): Other plans are To copy Chris Palmer's board game punchout ruins. So sad about all the punchouts I have thrown away.. Add some Deadzone terrain bits to a styrofoam packing shape to make a bunker. Build some of the Deadzone terrain as scatter terrain. Maybe make a tower and some barriers? Any other ideas for quick, cheap, hard wearing 40K terrain are definitely welcome!
  2. Zeta Complex is a brand new setting using the SWADE rules. This dark humor Sci-Fi game will be a blast for everyone. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/newcometgames/zeta-complex-a-savage-world-setting EU friendly.

  4. It has been a dark time for the Galactic Empire. Strong meta for the other factions have lead to few victories, and the faith of many Imperial commanders had been tested. But now, when all seemed lost, and new RRG has emerged. Unit costs have decreased. Changes have breathed new life into nearly abandoned Imperial troops. And leading the way, mighty Lord Vader's Sith training has made him even more powerful and devastating. Now is the time, for the Empire to strike back!! So, a new year, and a new Star Wars Legion painting WIP. Last year started strong but then I almost completely stopped painting for quite a while. Instead I focused on getting a bunch of units assembled, as I was playing fairly regularly. My back going to crap probably had some impact on my painting too, all those meds aren't helping with my focus or energy levels. Regardless, I've finally felt like painting again the last week or so. So I'm going to go with it and hope to settle in to a schedule where I'm getting a few hours of painting in a week. My goals for this year are to get back to painting Empire forces, but also to finish up painting my CIS army. For the CIS I still have to paint two more units of B1s, and base them and the 2 units I've just finished up in the old WIP. Then there are 3 units of STAPs, 3 units of Droidekas. 3 Spider Droids. 3 boxes of Magnaguards. 3 boxes of Bx commandos. A bunch of commanders and specialists. Oh, and 2 snail tanks, and two AATs.......so a bit...also 1 more unit of B2s if they ever come in. But, as soon as I get through the 2 units of B1s (they take up too much room on my desk to work on anything else at the same time) I'll start moving in some Imperial units to mix it up. And get back to painting white......
  5. New Diehard KS Starts Tomorrow May 26th At 9am GMT Posted by Tim Prow May 25, 2022 View on Kickstarter Hi Folks, I'm proud to present Diehard Miniatures 8th Kickstarter which launches Thursday 26th May at 9am GMT! This campaign will allow Diehard Miniatures to expand upon our very popular Sci-Fi range, the aim is to bring 79 new figures including freebies out with your help! Our main drive in this campaign will have a good versus bad theme, and those that dwell in the grey area. Sci-Fi Law Enforcers will have a new limited edition figure, Marshal Lex is mounted on her Grav patrol bike. We are very lucky to have one of the last sculpts from our guest sculptor Kev White of Hasslefree fame!! We aim to fund: THIRTEEN new 5 man units - 65 new miniatures!! FOURTEEN free stretch goal miniatures - characters, familiars and droids. AND an opportunity to pick up existing units from the Diehard range that complement this release. This Diehard KS is slightly different from our previous campaigns, we will be dipping our toe into the realms of Freebies! A first for us and hopefully a fresh new experience for you, any pledges of £30 or above will automatically get freebies. The more backers and the higher the pledge the quicker the stretch goals will be unlocked to a maximum of £87 worth of freebies!! 6. SCI-FI INFINITY WARS This just reached its funding goal.
  7. The challenge is 30 minis in 30 days (not necessarily 1 mini each day.) I've been prepping a few figures each week since August, and this year's theme is Science Fiction: Team Terminator: XairBot (Small) 49012 XairBot (Medium) 49013 CyberReavers I (2) 50354 CyberReavers II (2) 50355 CyberReaver 845 Enforcer 847 Team Survivor: HESCO barriers (2) Starship Generator 80053 Tess, Adventuring Heroine 49020 Slade, Cyborg Hero 49018 Nova Corp:Female 80013 Nova Corp:Soldier 80012 Terrain: Gothic Tank Traps/objective markers (2) 3d printed scatter terrain Crates (Large and Small)(2) 77248 Jersey Barriers (2) More Stuff: IMEF: Reggie Van Zandt 80017 Viceroy Enforcers (3) 30029 Starship Generator 80053 #2 Obligatory Fantasy: Cats&Catacombs Dreadmere wight 44022 Benedict Baker dark elf w/bow 1128 Liriel Silverlocks 2458 DGS games female Not shown: Blood Nebula Mercenary 49017, Power Generator 72611 (2)-- still in blister packs. That gets me to 30-ish, depending on whether I count things like the barriers and crates as single pieces or not. Still working on getting the last few pieces washed and primed and identified.
  8. Tried for a super-hero powered armor look on this guy. You know, dude in a high tech flying suit. I wish Reaper would make more of these guys in different poses for tabletop skirmish games.
  9. One of Reaper's weirder offerings, this was part of the 2021 virtual expo swag. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, so I copied what others had done, giving him bony armored back plates and a big sloppy doggy grin. Shown here with some 3d printed terrain.
  10. Painted this guy waaay back in April. Been a while since I did any show off threads... Anyway, had fun making his carapace look shiny. This was also a special needs Bathalian, coming to me with a missing tentacle. I was able to carve one out of some leftover sprue that I keep on hand for such emergencies. I'm looking forward to painting his friends.
  11. I went with saturated colors on this one. Enough of the black and brown, this Sascha is from a dimension where the future's so bright you gotta wear shades.
  12. Black on black, your standard sci-fi street-runner. Gave his coat a touch of purple just to give the eye something to look at.
  13. "Starting with the latest expansion to the GURPS Action series (see Warehouse 23), your pledge of $3 secures you a PDF copy of GURPS Action 8 - Twists. This 10-page PDF, written by Sean Punch, aims to shake things up. " https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warehouse23/steve-jackson-games-gurps-2021-pdf-challenge? 10 PDFs for as little as $3 seems like a deal.
  14. These look like fun. 26 hours left.... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1004971769/skrap-runtz-3d-printable-miniatures-0?
  15. 'Scorch' Sotniko was hot. This whole damn world was hot, but this stinking jungle somehow seemed to be hotter still. The other mercenaries he was moving through the jungle with looked like they were feeling about the same as he was. Strange Midnight, their scout, didn't seem to be bothered as much as everyone else, but that was because he came from the rad deserts of Zargove-3. This was just a nice stroll in the woods for him. Scorch knew that they'd be at the rendezvous point in another half hour or so, and then he'd get a break. He'd be able to refill his canteens, as well as to remove the heavy Intergalactic Marine Expeditionary Force armor that he'd gotten a few months back off the black market. Between the heavy armor, the protective anti-flash gear, the flamethrower he was carrying, and all the rest of his gear, he had a fairly heavy load. It'd be good to able to shed the weight, even if only for a little while. Some of the other guys gave him grief about his chosen equipment, but they hadn't seen what the bugs they were hunting could do to a man; Scorch had. From what he'd heard, the IMEF armor was supposed to offer a substantial amount of protection from the claws and fangs that most of their current enemy was armed with. Likewise, the flamethrower was good for keeping them at a distance and killing whole swaths of the things at once. Yeah, it might be hot, but the way Scorch figured it, that was better than all the screamin', bleedin' and dyin' he remembered from his first encounter with the bugs. Nothing fancy, just a fairly quick tabletop paint job to shake the rust off.
  16. Finished a couple more gang members for Warlord Games Judge Dredd game. Painted with reaper and Vallejo. In theory they'll get used for demos so I didn't want to burn a lot f time on the bases. These were some of their first figures in their new resin. It's kind of like Bones I as far as material goes. Also think they some of their early ones in 3d modelling as the "engraving" is almost too light. makes it hard to pick out details and you've got to be careful not to apply too heavy a coat or you'll fill in lines pretty easily.
  17. It's been 6 years since I last played a sci-fi table top game in 28mm. Wondering what is out there BESIDES 40k these days? What are you playing and/or what do you recommend? My favorite in the past were 40k 2e and Necromunda. I prefer more skirmish level, and capable of handling multiple players/sides.

  19. So this is my year in review. It was a strange year, what with working from home since early March. I initially thought that would mean I'd paint more, but after spending 8+ hours every day sitting 3 feet from my painting desk but working, it really didn't work out that way. Eventually I was able to get some stuff painted so things are working better now. At the start of the year I decided I wanted to not just pick up some random Star Wars Legion stuff to paint, but to actually play the game. Unfortunately everything shut down before I could watch a game at the LFGS. After I got enough prepped at home, my very patient and understanding wife agreed to play some small games so I could sort out the rules. It must be reasonably fun for her, we just played a game on Monday.... Eventually the store opened up for play again and I got in about a half dozen games before the latest wave hit and put a stop to that. If all goes well we should be back to playing in a couple weeks. As far as painting: That was my output for the year. I count it as 52 figures (51 bases but the e-Web has two Snowtroopers on the base.....). Not bad at all for me, especially considering it took me two months to paint the first unit of Stormtroopers and I had a big slump during the hot part of the summer where my output was nil. As you can probably tell, I play Imperials. And, because I'm using the premium bases and painting them, I can only field what I've painted. So I've been pushing on painting Imperials. The only rebel unit I've painted is the Rebel Veterans. The LFGS rain a painting contest online during the shutdown and I figured painting yet more white and black wasn't going to impress.... Here is the breakdown: Rebels: 1 box of Rebel Veterans Imperials 2 units of Stromtroopers 1 unit of Scout Troopers 2 units of Snowtroopers 1 e-WEB heavy blaster team 2 units of Speederbikes Darth Vader (the starter box edition) General Veers and the Imperial Officer and FX-9 Medical Droid from the Imperial Specialists Personnel Expansion. Looking forward to 2021 I still have a lot of Imperials left to paint. Luckily most are assembled, some are primed and a number of Stormtroopers already have a wash and drybrush done. This is good because I got the Clone Wars starter for Christmas (awesome wife strikes again!) so I'll be starting to assemble Droids soon....
  20. A friend asked if I knew where to get hemets like these Anyone have ideas?
  21. Made a weird little conversion based on my destiny 2 warlock. He's built out of a warlord red army soldier in winter clothing, Mantic gcps arms, soda pop minis head and other random bits.
  22. A pair of speed painted 3d printed robots I completed during my 4th of July Paint Binge. I found the GW Contrast paints to be very good at covering large smooth surfaces easily. The red one was from a KS project by EC3D. (and yes, it's missing an arm) I am not sure where my husband found the other one, but maybe Thingaverse.
  23. A line of concrete barricades from Secret Weapon. I had fun painting them to look dirty and battered. And here's my whole collection:
  24. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rebelminis/rebel-minis-motorpool-kickstarter/description Story Welcome to our newest Kickstarter! You'll notice this one is a little different. In this Kickstarter we are offering the STL Files of some of our classic models for you to print on your home 3D printers. These files, created and designed by John Bear Ross, offer tons of combinations and entrance into an amazing realm of sci-fi models. These models come scaled in 15mm AND 28mm! Now, keep in mind, these are for personal use, not for commercial or resale. We own the copyrights and designs but for the sake of this Kickstarter, we are allowing the files to go to you, our loyal supporters. So why are we doing this Kickstarter? Short answer…We are raising funds to increase our in-house printing capabilities. This will allow us to develop more detailed models, models in larger scales, and bring out even more product lines. Rebel Minis is growing and we want you guys to be part of it. But we can’t do it without you, so please consider pledging, and spreading the word! Thank you, Mike and JBR The Reward We have only one. ALL the files listed to be available for one pledged amount. You get the files to everything you see scaled in both 15mm and 28mm. Your pledge of $40 gets the whole kit n’ caboodle. Once again, this is for PERSONAL USE! You do not have permission to distribute, copy or sell the files. *C'mon man, you know that ain’t cool!* Stretch Goals If we reach our goals, we will unlock stretch goals. These files will be added to the reward and download at the same time. Delivery After the Kickstarter ends, and if it is successful, you will get a survey to confirm your email. Later, when they are ready, we will email you the links for download. The Files Look at all these Glorious Files, they can be yours! Can I print the weapons and vehicles on FDM and Resin Printers? Yes, everything should be printable on both types of printers found in common use. Most of our prints are optimized for desktop resin printers like the Anycubic Photon or the Elegoo Mars, but FDM should be able to support most builds. If we encounter files that are too large for resin printers, we will happily go back and supply sliced and optimized files to be printed in smaller chunks Gun drones, gun carriages, and weapons. 28mm and 15mm. 25. My LFGS had a painting contest on its FB Star Wars Legion page a bit ago. 2 weeks to paint up a squad of at least 4 figures. As creativity counted, I decided to set my white and black paint aside and paint something besides Stormtroopers. I took a look through the Rebel scum I'd acquired and really like the poses and sculpts for the Rebel Veterans. I'd planned to do the whole box of 7 figures, but (as anyone who's seen my WIPs knows) I'm not the fastest painter. I'm lucky if I can get one figure done in two weeks. So I quickly decided to just do 4 figures for the contest. I liked how they came out, and they did get "best painted" in the contest, so I guess they are alright. It then took me another 6 weeks to finally finish the last 3 figures (see? Sloooooow.) But the whole unit is finally done. Should probably read the rules on them sometime soon..... Now back to all those Stormtroopers.
