  1. Black on black, your standard sci-fi street-runner. Gave his coat a touch of purple just to give the eye something to look at.
  2. Painted this guy waaay back in April. Been a while since I did any show off threads... Anyway, had fun making his carapace look shiny. This was also a special needs Bathalian, coming to me with a missing tentacle. I was able to carve one out of some leftover sprue that I keep on hand for such emergencies. I'm looking forward to painting his friends.
  3. Against all expectations, I'm getting back into 40K. This is because, against all expectations, some fine friendly folks are opening a FLGS that's actually local to me. That is, it's in the small town I live in. Activity is mostly been MTG and other card games along with 40K. Since they are just starting out they don't really have any terrain to play with. As it happens, I dont' have lot of stuff for 40K unless the battle is being fought on a planet that just happens to resemble the Ethiopian countryside. However, I have way too much "possible terrain stuff"/junk laying about
  4. "Starting with the latest expansion to the GURPS Action series (see Warehouse 23), your pledge of $3 secures you a PDF copy of GURPS Action 8 - Twists. This 10-page PDF, written by Sean Punch, aims to shake things up. " https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warehouse23/steve-jackson-games-gurps-2021-pdf-challenge? 10 PDFs for as little as $3 seems like a deal.
  5. These look like fun. 26 hours left.... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1004971769/skrap-runtz-3d-printable-miniatures-0?
  6. 'Scorch' Sotniko was hot. This whole damn world was hot, but this stinking jungle somehow seemed to be hotter still. The other mercenaries he was moving through the jungle with looked like they were feeling about the same as he was. Strange Midnight, their scout, didn't seem to be bothered as much as everyone else, but that was because he came from the rad deserts of Zargove-3. This was just a nice stroll in the woods for him. Scorch knew that they'd be at the rendezvous point in another half hour or so, and then he'd get a break. He'd be able to refill his canteens, as well as to remove the h
  7. Finished a couple more gang members for Warlord Games Judge Dredd game. Painted with reaper and Vallejo. In theory they'll get used for demos so I didn't want to burn a lot f time on the bases. These were some of their first figures in their new resin. It's kind of like Bones I as far as material goes. Also think they some of their early ones in 3d modelling as the "engraving" is almost too light. makes it hard to pick out details and you've got to be careful not to apply too heavy a coat or you'll fill in lines pretty easily.
  8. It's been 6 years since I last played a sci-fi table top game in 28mm. Wondering what is out there BESIDES 40k these days? What are you playing and/or what do you recommend? My favorite in the past were 40k 2e and Necromunda. I prefer more skirmish level, and capable of handling multiple players/sides.
  9. Thought some of you might find this of interest: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bombshellminis/isw-71b-scout-ship?ref=user_menu Available as either a physical model or STL Command power. 10. So this is my year in review. It was a strange year, what with working from home since early March. I initially thought that would mean I'd paint more, but after spending 8+ hours every day sitting 3 feet from my painting desk but working, it really didn't work out that way. Eventually I was able to get some stuff painted so things are working better now. At the start of the year I decided I wanted to not just pick up some random Star Wars Legion stuff to paint, but to actually play the game. Unfortunately everything shut down before I could watch a game at the LFGS. After I got e
  11. A friend asked if I knew where to get hemets like these Anyone have ideas?
  12. Made a weird little conversion based on my destiny 2 warlock. He's built out of a warlord red army soldier in winter clothing, Mantic gcps arms, soda pop minis head and other random bits.
  13. A pair of speed painted 3d printed robots I completed during my 4th of July Paint Binge. I found the GW Contrast paints to be very good at covering large smooth surfaces easily. The red one was from a KS project by EC3D. (and yes, it's missing an arm) I am not sure where my husband found the other one, but maybe Thingaverse.
  14. A line of concrete barricades from Secret Weapon. I had fun painting them to look dirty and battered. And here's my whole collection:

  16. My LFGS had a painting contest on its FB Star Wars Legion page a bit ago. 2 weeks to paint up a squad of at least 4 figures. As creativity counted, I decided to set my white and black paint aside and paint something besides Stormtroopers. I took a look through the Rebel scum I'd acquired and really like the poses and sculpts for the Rebel Veterans. I'd planned to do the whole box of 7 figures, but (as anyone who's seen my WIPs knows) I'm not the fastest painter. I'm lucky if I can get one figure done in two weeks. So I quickly decided to just do 4 figures for the contest.
  17. Putting my new Photon through its paces printing some Heroforge sculpts. The halfling operative is actually a mash-up of two Heroforge sculpts in Tinkercad. (Why can't Heroforge let you have just a single cyberarm?) Didn't think to photograph her till I had the primer on: The first print of the gnome solarion didn't have enough supports on the arm with the fireball, so after cleaning the resulting lump out of the vat and trying again with more supports, here she is, supports and all:
  18. Hi All, I'm starting this thread to show the progress of a Neo-Soviet 15mm army I've been meaning to paint for quite a while .you know the feeling think thats great idea to collect but don't get around to starting them... Heres the lot that will be painted up most of the Vehicles are from Armies Army (sold to Brigade & the Scene in the UK I believe) the BTR 160s & BTR 290s are nice as there are lots of variants APC's Ambulance, recovery vehicles etc which will work well for scenarios which we hope to play. Time to get these out of Storage

  21. So I was just about to check out my first Star Wars Legion game night at the lfgs when the whole apocalypse thing happened, so rather than painting my Imperials, I've been focusing on getting my rebel scum assembled so that wife (who is "mostly" interested in playing) and I can learn to play here at home. With that complete I now need to get some more Imperials finished so we can actually play, since I'm not attaching bases to the Imperials until they are painted. As my wife actually agreed to play this weekend, that meant I needed a commander quick! So I pulled up the FFG guide online

  23. Been a while since I posted a show-off....hopefully I'll be more productive painting this year. Of to a good start, I've already painted more than double my total for last year.... I've started painting up some of the Star Wars Legion figures I've been picking up from my lfgs for the last half year or so. I started with a unit of Stormtroopers out of the starter box. These were supposed to be a nice super quick tabletop paint job to get the year started. While they were a quick tabletop paint job, that quick ended up being spread over 2 months....hopefully I will get better at get
  24. Since I don't have enough projects on the go, I decided to start another one. When the Bones III Kickstarter came around I really liked the Blackstar Corsairs, so much I ordered two sets. When the giant box o' Bones arrived I was surprised to see them on their sprues still and in pieces. Not a problem, it just meant I couldn't play with them, err, inspect them when I was sorting my figs. So they all went in a Ziploc. Today while pondering which project to work on I noticed them (they were hiding behind another project I have't even started a WIP on yet....). And tonight while
