  1. Here's a couple of robots from Rattrap's pulpy sci-fi game. I painted one in brass and one in bronze, the color shows better in person. I made bases from Reaper 1" rounds which were hollow on one side (the ones we got at Reapercon) and a happy Seppuku stamp. In the background is a little terrain marker I made with a plastic barrel from Secret Weapon, a cannister from a Reaper weapon sprue, and a piece of textured foil from a coffee can.
  2. This ends in 24 hours roughly. There's also a related previous kickestarter. Expands on previous line.
  3. I've been on a bit of a Sci-Fi kick recently, so I'm going to be converting and painting up the Bones version of the Nova Corp troops. The original head on this guy has a horrible mold line, so I swapped it with a GW Dark Eldar. Nothing wrong with her head, I just don't like having a bunch of clones, so I'll be giving her a bare head. With new head (from GW Wood Elves).
  4. This is from last weekend's lazy paint day. I may add some water slide decals when I get my regular paint station back.
  5. This is not my idea; I saw someone else's project online a while back, and ever since I've been looking for an opportunity to try it. Then I was with a friend recently who was punching out the counters for his newly purchased copy of the Congo ruleset, and I asked if I could have the remaining cardboard frame left after all the counters are punched out. I then cut the frames into sections to look like partially destroyed walls, and glued them on to 6" x 6" cork bases. Next, I'll be adding some detail bits, an then spraying on a base coat.
  6. A couple of quick paint jobs to add to my collection of modern/sci-fi gaming figures. The crate came in the swag bag at Reapercon, it was a solid dark brown and I drybrushed it heavily with a flesh tone to make it look more like wood. Bonnie has no face. I did the best I could with what was there. I put her on a metal washer because she is so light the slightest jiggle flips her over on the table. Frank is a pretty solid guy, OTOH. They are both a little shiny because I sprayed them heavily for table use.
  7. I've finally started painting my second faction for MERCS: Recon, the CCC. I'm not sure why, but I keep picking factions with yellow in their official colour scheme. EU had some, but CCC is pretty much all yellow. I don't do a lot of yellow and I'm not really comfortable with it, but I think I managed to do a not-terrible job on these guys, at least so far. There are 5 figures in the squad from the starter box, but I've only gotten two finished so far. But its the end of the month, so for the RPChallenge I'll start a showoff post now, and update when I get the other three finished.
  8. A deeply religious fellow, the Knight of Remembrance was originally a Knight Chaplain responsible for recording the names of his fallen comrades in arms. Spending too long seeing too many good men die due to the arrogance and incompetence of those in charge, he left his original knightly order to offer his skills to those in need. Another Space Marine from Games Workshop Deathwatch:- Overkill set, I had a lot of fun painting him even if he was covered in way too much stuff. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  9. Teenage mighty ninja teratons,Tengokon Tech's Teraton Dreadball team. They are actually the rebel cell known as 'The Blinking Shadow' inspired by Earth legends of a group of mighty turtle warriors Leo Gon took the mantle and image after seeking tutledge from ancient Teraton battlemasters, he and his three brothers with ther friends and alliies have joined in the rebels to fight against the GCCP. Leo Gon, renamed Leonado is the master, strong and wise beyond his years wielding ancient blades as well as a Tengokon Tech compact sniper rifle (or rifle depending on mission loadouts) and his stealth
  10. Wave 2 of the MERCS:Recon KS arrived recently and got me thinking about painting up some more figures. As July is not a great month for me to get painting done, I went with some nice easy Security Force mooks. These are the SecFor I figures for the game. These are the lowest level threat to the MERCS. I figure their normal day is such exciting tasks as escorting that accountant that messed up out of the building and keeping an eye on sales reps to make sure they aren't stealing company pens. But they were issued a gun and when the boss calls that there is a disturbance on the R&
  11. Sally is my first finished project from my original Bombshell Miniatures. Patrick Keith is one of my absolute favorite sculptors working today, and Sally was a great model to work on. I really like how the NMM purple turned out and this forum's suggestion of orange for the trim turned out really, really well. Original WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/68437-sally-starfield-wip
  12. Since Painting Dog finally received my very late mini, I can post up the pictures I took of it. In the exchange questionnaire Painting Dog stated that they liked dragons and sic-fi stuff, so I decided to do both, because what's the point of a present if it's not awesomesauce. A space dragon was just what I wanted, but I wanted one with a gun. Like, a really big gun. So I took a chain gun from a CAV and attached it to the side of my dragon, as well as sculpting some armour onto it. I sculpted the terrain to match what is already on the bones silver dragon, then decided that it would look
  13. This week, I've been working on some of my CAV vehicles from the Kickstarter, and I was thinking about a box of leftover Mechwarrior clicky base stuff I had, and the idea came to me to make a destroyed mech or two to use as scenery on the tabletop. I wanted it to look like it had sat on a long-forgotten battlefield for decades or centuries. I began by slicing the mech from its clicky base, and then I used a pair of pliers to rip the arms and head off. I then used a drill to make a big hole in the torso to look like where a missile had hit, knocking out the mech. I also used the dr
  14. A friend of mine recently received a bunch of resin minis he'd ordered from Brother Vinni (of Russia) last year. He sent the bulk of them off to someone else to be professionally painted, but he had a few left over that he was willing to let me give a go at. The intent was to paint these up as Fallout miniatures, as (great minds think alike!) my friend has been interested in running a Fallout-themed game. (I think originally he was going to do something at GenCon or some other big game convention like that, but the minis ended up getting here a year late.) A large part of my work consis
  15. Took a while to upload, but these are the results from my WIP thread.:
  16. ...a 54mm metal and resin piece from Andrea Miniatures' Dark Nova Series. The figure is out-of-the-box, while the rubble base has been embellished with bent wire re-bar, angle iron, a pipe, and a torn-up, slightly squashed teddy bear. Floquil Gray model RR primer under Reaper MSPs. The piece is not based on any comic or game system that I'm aware of, so the sky's the limit as far as interpretation of what does what and color schemes go. I painted, damaged, and weathered it as I would a tank. Questions and comments are welcomed. No secrets here... Glen
  17. Recently received Wave 1 of fulfillment for the MERCS: Recon kickstarter. While there are some quality issues (which they appear to be working on) the game itself seems pretty cool with a ton of replayability. Wave 1 was a copy of each of the two versions of the core game: Counter Threat and Assassination Protocol. Each box comes with 20 plastic miniatures: 2 squads of 5 MERCS from different factions and 10 security forces (5 SecForII and 5 SecForIII, with all the copies in each box the same, but different sculpts between boxes). Wave 2 will provide a LOT more squads and figures, at least w
  18. Got my Wave 1 of MERCS: Recon last week. Wave 1 consists of the two versions of the game: Counter Threat, which has the CCC and EU as the MERCS, and Assassination Protocol, which has the KemVar and Keizai Waza. Each faction consists of 5 MERCS, and each box also comes with 10 SecFor (Security Forces): 5 SecForII with Shotguns and 5 SecForIII with machine guns. The sculpts for these are all the same in a box, but the sculpts are different between boxes, so you end up with 2 different sculpts of each time 5. Wave two will include all sorts of KS exclusive figs as well as a whole mess of fac
  19. For Secret Sophie this year I got Klarg1 and he was looking for something Sci-Fi. I'd had an IMEF Bulldog that I'd been eager to paint since it first came out (Big Stompy Robots!!) but never gotten to. So I ordered myself another one and started in on it. I decided early on to go with battle damaged, so I could use both the pilot and the hatch, and so I could try out painting some damage. Then after Christmas I needed something to paint at work (and had just received a bunch of new military triads from the 12 days of Reaper) so I grabbed a couple of IMEF troopers t
  20. Here it is! Conclusive evidence of the existence of aliens!!!! Sorry, I may not have got enough sleep this weekend..... Anyway, picture, if you will, a race from another planet, not unlike our own. They discover a new planet with intelligent life. While they journey to meet them, they study the broadcasts of this race's own space exploration. From what they learn they pattern their own uniforms to follow the same colour system as the great explorers of this new species they journey to meet. These guys are just done to tabletop. I needed something to paint at wor
  21. So I was thinking of this more and more for a diorama I'm planning. What kind of pet would you imagine someone having on their ship? Additionally what kind of pet would you want on your ship? And why. Your ship being the one you own. Think Firefly, Han Solo, etc. Lastly, links to miniatures that correspond / pictures would be cool too. :)
  22. Episode VII The WIP Awakens It's a time of uncertainly. Dreariness grips the forums as the influence of the Dread Winter spreads, but a glimmer of hope remains in the heroic forces of the Forumites. As they struggle against the dark and cold of the enemy, these brave painters may yet awaken the skill and strength needed to complete new figures.... Now that I've got THAT out of my system.....I think I'll be painting some Sci-Fi stuff over the next little while, mostly Bones 3 stuff but anything else that doesn't deserve a separate, like some old resin barrel
  23. This week I completed a tabletop paint job on Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue, from the Bones 1 Kickstarter "Bedeviled" set. When looking at this figure there was something about it that looked more Sci-Fi than Fantasy to me. I don't know if it was the outfit, or the stance, or just the general demeanor of the figure; but to me it looked a bit more like a Star Trek alien than a fantasy world demon. So, I decided to go with that for my painting scheme. I'm pleased with how the Sci-Fi look turned out on her. I think she looks like a good alien assassin, or perhaps some sort of exotic knife dancer
  24. Some of you may remember that I recently posted the IMEF Reggie Van Zandt figure I had completed as a test figure for painting the rest of the IMEF set from the Bones 1 Kickstarter: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65909-imef-reggie-van-zandt-80017-bones/?hl=imef Over the Christmas break I had the time to finish the last of the figures from the set with quick tabletop paint-jobs, and here they are: As always, C & C welcome
  25. I see that I need another colour background. The red colour washed out the miniature a bit:
