  1. So in my long and endless planning of a Star Wars campaign I thought of crime syndicates. I want a run in (or two, or a dozen) with the Hutt's and I would also like some with local gangs, space pirates and what not. I have been looking around for a while at different miniatures for such things. It's time to throw the net out to this fine Reaper Community So the campaign takes place WAY after the new Jedi Order. The Jedi are fully establish again like Episode on One/Two. (About 20 years BBY*). I have found two miniatures in the Reaper catalog that fit the bill. I like t
  2. Recently received Wave 1 of fulfillment for the MERCS: Recon kickstarter. While there are some quality issues (which they appear to be working on) the game itself seems pretty cool with a ton of replayability. Wave 1 was a copy of each of the two versions of the core game: Counter Threat and Assassination Protocol. Each box comes with 20 plastic miniatures: 2 squads of 5 MERCS from different factions and 10 security forces (5 SecForII and 5 SecForIII, with all the copies in each box the same, but different sculpts between boxes). Wave 2 will provide a LOT more squads and figures, at least w
  3. So I was thinking of this more and more for a diorama I'm planning. What kind of pet would you imagine someone having on their ship? Additionally what kind of pet would you want on your ship? And why. Your ship being the one you own. Think Firefly, Han Solo, etc. Lastly, links to miniatures that correspond / pictures would be cool too. :)
  4. Here it is! Conclusive evidence of the existence of aliens!!!! Sorry, I may not have got enough sleep this weekend..... Anyway, picture, if you will, a race from another planet, not unlike our own. They discover a new planet with intelligent life. While they journey to meet them, they study the broadcasts of this race's own space exploration. From what they learn they pattern their own uniforms to follow the same colour system as the great explorers of this new species they journey to meet. These guys are just done to tabletop. I needed something to paint at wor
  5. For Secret Sophie this year I got Klarg1 and he was looking for something Sci-Fi. I'd had an IMEF Bulldog that I'd been eager to paint since it first came out (Big Stompy Robots!!) but never gotten to. So I ordered myself another one and started in on it. I decided early on to go with battle damaged, so I could use both the pilot and the hatch, and so I could try out painting some damage. Then after Christmas I needed something to paint at work (and had just received a bunch of new military triads from the 12 days of Reaper) so I grabbed a couple of IMEF troopers t
  6. This week I completed a tabletop paint job on Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue, from the Bones 1 Kickstarter "Bedeviled" set. When looking at this figure there was something about it that looked more Sci-Fi than Fantasy to me. I don't know if it was the outfit, or the stance, or just the general demeanor of the figure; but to me it looked a bit more like a Star Trek alien than a fantasy world demon. So, I decided to go with that for my painting scheme. I'm pleased with how the Sci-Fi look turned out on her. I think she looks like a good alien assassin, or perhaps some sort of exotic knife dancer
  7. Episode VII The WIP Awakens It's a time of uncertainly. Dreariness grips the forums as the influence of the Dread Winter spreads, but a glimmer of hope remains in the heroic forces of the Forumites. As they struggle against the dark and cold of the enemy, these brave painters may yet awaken the skill and strength needed to complete new figures.... Now that I've got THAT out of my system.....I think I'll be painting some Sci-Fi stuff over the next little while, mostly Bones 3 stuff but anything else that doesn't deserve a separate, like some old resin barrel
  8. Some of you may remember that I recently posted the IMEF Reggie Van Zandt figure I had completed as a test figure for painting the rest of the IMEF set from the Bones 1 Kickstarter: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65909-imef-reggie-van-zandt-80017-bones/?hl=imef Over the Christmas break I had the time to finish the last of the figures from the set with quick tabletop paint-jobs, and here they are: As always, C & C welcome
  9. I see that I need another colour background. The red colour washed out the miniature a bit:
  10. I completed the IMEF Reggie Van Zandt Gatling-gunner figure over the weekend. This was my test figure for a paint scheme for the rest of the IMEF crew that came with the Bones I KS. I did a nice serviceable tabletop quality paint job on him, but was quite pleased with how is face turned out. All C & C welcome.
  11. This week, as i continue to work through the Bones I "Chronoscope Set", I painted up Rosie the Chronotechnician. It's a nice little figure with a lot of character. I'm a bit unhappy with her mouth, as it was not well molded and ended up looking a little odd. For the full write-up on painting her, please see my blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/09/rosie-chronotechnician-figure-172-of-265.html
  12. Again. Not doing anything super spiffy. Another member of my army. Likely will be in a group shot at the end. I did him as a black and purple with a rifle. The blue is more his choice to make him look fiercer as he has scars around both wings.
  13. Not doing anything fancy with these guys and likely they will wind up in a huge post with my whole army once I finish it, but for now they get their own Show-off First my Dual Pistol Wielding Fire Dragon Hatchling I think he is absolutely adorable. I may go in ad make the eyes a darker color though
  14. This month has been really busy, but I managed to at least get a couple more Mekkus done. These ones have a pair of Pulsar Rifles. And here is my Mekkus squad now. Still 3 more to paint from what came in the KS.
  15. Decided to start on my Counterblast! figs in the new year, and I know there are some others on the forums here that were in on that kickstarter, so figured I'd start and open topic. I went in for the Ultonium level and got one of each starter set. That's a good sized pile o' figs.... I'm planning to start with the Mekkus. Let's open those bags and take a look. Ummmm, hmmm. I need to go sort out what belongs with what I think....
  16. WIP thread here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56226-01407-dana-murphy/ Dana Murphy is my first attempt at a larger scale miniature. She was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. I really wanted to get her done for ReaperCon, so I had to rush a bit at the end. I made quite a few mistakes, but I also learned a lot about painting at a larger scale. I hope to paint up at least one at this scale before next year's ReaperCon. Convenient, since I bought two candidates at the con itself. Dana, including pedestal Closer-ups of Dana
  17. Woo! Finally done! I've been working on One Shot here for a few months. Overall I'm fairly pleased, but there was a lot that I just said "heck with it" in the name of finishing the model. Unfortunately, Jessi (the driver)'s pose (and where the pin ended up) kind of hides her, even though she's probably the best painted part of the whole thing. The gun is stolen from a Dust Tactics model because I thought she needed an upgrade if she was going to compete with the likes of Kasaro-To (the only other Relic I have assembled and painted). I used a lot of airbrushing and edge highlighting in neutr
  18. So I've been tossing around the idea of prototyping (yet another) sci-fi miniatures game system. The game concept I have would work best at 15mm, but since I don't have any 15mm miniatures, I haven't actually done anything in regards to trying my concept out in terms of a full scale game. I tried doing some paper counters as an initial test, but that isn't working out. So I've been kind of looking around at what kind of good deals I can get on a bunch of 15mm infantry figures. I'm probably just going to buy a box of Wargame Factory's 15mm WW2 Americans, since there are 92 figures in a box
  19. I managed to get two more figures painted for my Lancers squad in May. First up we have the Captain, He's a Shrinaar, which I guess are a race of space-faring cat people. And we also have the "Veteran" H0pr Bot. He's seen some action and hasn't even had time to get the second hand replacement parts repainted.... Here's a shot of my Lancers squad at this point.
  20. I also managed to whip through a couple of Mekkus Aggressors. These are the version with twin Particle Beam weapons. Here they are with the Defender I'd already done.
  21. This year my husband got me some resin terrain from Itar's Workshop, including some sci-fi pieces. One of these is IWS-IND-003, "Engine" and one of them is IWS-IND-001, "Power Generator", but I can't recall which is which. Here they are with Reaper's Dee Dee, Astro Girl, for scale. Please pardon my ignorance. I don't know know if these are true-to-life or pure fantasy, so I decided to paint them how I liked. I didn't take pictures for the earliest stages. First I primed them with titanium white (Golden matte fluid acrylics) with a very little flow improver added. Typical
  22. This is the first figure for the 2nd faction I'm painting up for Counterblast, the Mekkus. They are your classic all conquering robot race who turned on their creators and are not running rampant across the galaxy! I started with the Defender #1, a heavily armored defensive unit. Hopefully the fairly simple paint scheme will make it quick to get the whole squad painted up.
  23. And here is a H0pR Bot for my Lancers squad. He's a great fig, lots of ways to pose him. I had a lot of fun painting him up.
  24. Has anyone actually played WWX? I can't say that I'm overly impressed with the models, but interesting/different gameplay always piques my interest. Anything new or novel here? Not that I need any more miniatures games....
