So these guys are finally done! They got attached to their Secret Weapon Bases, I tried to make them look like some sort of blasted ash waste. So here they are! As I was painting, I saw the opportunity to have a little fun. It is something that only the older players are likely to get... (And of course, if my painting skill translates the image in my head to other people!) here is a hint: If you get the joke, please put your answer in a spoiler! My name is Sam Nolton, and I've been developing Sauriana for almost four years. It's gone through a number of iterations, including our planned 54mm version I attempted to raise funds for in 2016. I've listened to the community's feedback, and put a lot of work into bringing to life what I believe is the best possible version of this game. The miniatures, aesthetic, narrative, and themes of Sauriana are all extensions of myself, it's the game I've always wanted to play- and I hope it will appeal to others as well. Drawing inspiration from a number of genres, as well as real-world history (most notably the Great Dinosaur Rush or "Bone Wars" of the 19th century), I am truly excited to present this game to the Kickstarter crowd with the hopes of bringing it to life.

I'll edit this once I switch from my phone to my PC. Edit: OK, I got these just last week but I wanted to use them at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH, June 14-17, so I got to work the day they arrived and started washing them with dish soap and hot water. I couldn't wait for them to dry so I started designing the layout while they were still wet! Next day I glued them in place. They are mounted on expanded foam insulation, this particular brand comes in 1/2 inch thickness, 14.5 by 48 inches. It is used to go between 2x4 wall studs, hence the odd width. Any way, it a good size for modular gaming terrain once cut down to 24 inches and doubled up. I used Gorilla brand glue to attache the tiles to the substrate; I knew PVA (Elmers) glue would not stick well to the PVC tiles from trying it on Reaper Bones, and CA (Superglue) glue does not play nice with expanded foam. The Gorilla glue I used dried white; it looks strange against the gray tiles, but as it was all getting painted anyway it did not matter. Two properties of Gorilla glue I had forgotten worked in my favor. First, it requires a little moisture to cure, and so it didn't matter the tiles were not entirely dry after one day. I also used a sponge to dampen the flat underside of all the tiles. Second the glue expands! The tiles don't fit together well and have a lot of gaps, so the expanding glue helped fill in those gaps. I had to go back later and trim some of the excess glue but that was easy with a hobby knife. By the way you might want to use gloves if you're using Gorilla glue; it sticks to skin pretty well, too. After another day of drying I first painted all the exposed foam with black craft paint to protect it from the next step. I then sprayed the piece with Army Painted black primer; the solvents in most spray paints will dissolve expanded foam, and indeed some on this piece was pockmarked even though it was covered in acrylic paint first. After a few hours I then applied the first, heavy "damp" brush of a slate gray interior household paint I picked up on the clearance "oops" rack at Walmart. I used this kind of cheap interior paint to base coat my terrain; it's cheap and durable, but it takes longer to dry and does not cover as well if not applied heavily. Hence the "damp" brush instead of a true dry brush. Once that was cured I followed up with some dry brushed dolphin gray craft paint. I then used Reaper brown wash to paint all the wood and metal rails. I lightly stippled the rails with some silver paint and then did a second, lighter dry brush with the dolphin gray. The next day I mixed some black and brown craft paint and made a wash, and used some Reaper Red, Green and Blue liners to add some variation to the stone. Once all that dried I then applied a final, very light dry brush of a cream color. There is more I'd like to do to this piece, like add some lighting and the mine carts that came with the SW KS reward, and filling in some more gaps in the walls, but I think this will do for now. And I have almost half of my reward left yet for another piece. I really like these tiles; I see me buying more soon. Well done, MisterJustin and Secret Weapon Minis.

(Info in WiP) Kind of another case of 'I want you off my desk' working here, as I started him quite a while ago... Here he is, on his elevating Secret Weapon Base... And some Higher Angle: Comments and Critiques welcome! George

Hello, so I decided it would be fun to do a Halloween type miniature for the month of October, and had picked up the Wild West scarecrow a while back, and paired him up with a Secret Weapon Miniatures Creeping infection base. I'm still thinking about the color scheme so I would not mind suggestions at this point since I don't entirely want to go with the usual earth tones across the whole thing. Thanks for any input in advance!

Hey folks! I am going to be doing Demons and Devils this month, and am looking at some more Secret Weapon stuff from my Bag O' Crap, and have a question or 2... These 3 bases have things that would be interesting to put some Bar Igura on, but I am not sure what to do... The Secret Weapon site talks about filling them with the "Blood Mix of your choice", but that isn't the way I want to go... So I am wondering what folks do with these kinds of things... Thoughts, suggestions and ideas would be great! Pics of things you have done with them so that I could thieve ideas would be cooler! Thanks! George

Hey folks, I just got 2 bottles of Secret Weapon Washes, Soft body Black, and Stone, and I am wondering if people use it straight from the bottle, or thin it. If you are thinning it, what with? The Les B. You Tube stuff shows him mixing it up with just flow improver and Matte Medium, so I wonder if adding water is a good, bad, or indifferent idea. Can some anyone relate their experiences with this stuff please? Thanks George

Ok, fair warning: the image below is truly the most horrifying thing you'll ever see. It is not for the squeamish. Click the spoiler at your own risk. You were warned. The resolutionary horror challenge was to paint a non standard scary critter. I pushed the boundaries on that a little bit ( ok, a lot). I figure that no kind of monster is really all that scary; after all if it bleeds we can kill it, right? What I painted is much worse than that.

I did these Sunday morning, they were the most fun of everything I painted this weekend. I just let go with the washes and color blending. They are on 25mm bases, and came in my Bag of Crap.

So LittleBluberry and I both got bags of Crap from Secret Weapon. She posted on the randomness thread that she had gotten very few bases (which she was looking for) and had a very very large modern terrain piece. I offered to trade her some of my bases for whatever it turned out to be. (Because we all know I never use bases ) Here is what showed up in the mail. Given the Darksword Red Panda showed up in a lot of people's swag bags recently, (and I don't have Sir Forscale) I decided to drop him on top to give a sense of scale. (Also, this Gen Con Speed paint was sitting on my desk getting touched up, because I was testing out the Army Painter Strong Tone, but I digress). As you can see the right corner is a little rough. I've already cleaned up a bit of it, but I think there is a little more cleaning to do. There was a purple rubbery material in the cervasses, that makes me think it was part of it's mold. (This model has some very serious undercuts). Also there are areas where the resin doesn't feel like it cured properly... but I am not too familiar with resin or mold making! I really really really freakin' like this piece. It's got tires, coolers and propane tanks, all sorts of fun! Great for modern hurricane, civil unrest, zombies, or just one hellacous party. Which gave me the idea on what to do with the rough areas in the right corner... I'm gonna set them on fire! Or at least paint them as if they are on fire.... Haven't decided if I am going to model flames on the model or not... or just leave them looking blackened and scarred. Well what ever I do, I invite you to join me on this adventure.... Since this piece isn't on Secret weapons site... I'm wonder how many of these exist... So if any one knows what is up with this piece please spill the beans.

Hello all! While I'm waiting for my dull coat to dry so I can finish basing, I was curious if anyone has any experience with weathering pigments. I came across these at Hobby Lobby today: http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/87080weathering/ Our Hobby Lobby recently upgraded its inventory, so there's a LOT more Tamiya, Vallejo, etc. products. I've seen similar products over at the Secret Weapon website: http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=37_38 So, what's the sitch? These look like they could be useful....

I picked up a set the other day, and not only are they great for art, they are wonderful on minis. Fine details? no problem, the dreaded eyes? made much easier. Freehand? oh yes, they work for that too. In case you are wondering, I am excited. Unlike permanent markers, these are much more resistant to fading, and they go on over paint very nicely.
