  1. Hi all! These minis were close enough in theme I thought I'd post them together. First up: Demi-lich This simple but effective demilich was completed during a two hour speedpaint on Saturday and then touched up briefly on Sunday morning when I had better light. It isn't perfect (I'm sure I missed a bone or two), but I really like the end result quite a lot; a worthy addition to the collection. These guys are really an understated evil. I'm sure they are so lethal because unlike virtually everything else in D&D they dont telegraph how nasty they are. "Tiny floating skull, big deal" -ZAP! Speaking of tiny floating skulls: Flameskull swarm! I needed a flameskull for LMoP and I naturally went completely overboard. I realize that a swarm of flameskulls this size would be absolutely devastating to nearly any unprepared party. Perfect! FYI I had to scale the files down quite a bit (these are mounted on 15mm, 20mm and 30mm bases), but they are pretty sturdy. I realize going with a standard fire palate on them isn't "canon," but I wanted them to look hot & fiery, and I was already planning on painting the demilich above and I didn't want them to be too similar in style.
  2. Latest for the local Mini painting club. pretty nice sculpt by Bobby Jackson. I like how it came out.
  3. Presenting Ashlynn the Vampire. Originally a Dark Elf Priestess mini by Reaper, she lost an ear tip at some point during the manufacturing process, so I removed the other rendering her human, then the paint scheme went in a very vampirey direction. Not one of my best paint jobs, although I am rather pleased with her face and hair, but it was one of my fastest, it's very rare for me to finish a mini in a week. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  4. 03880: Phineas Greybone, Necromancer sculpted by Tre Manor Overall I'm really happy with how the light effects worked out. This was a really difficult miniature to photograph. The main challenges painting him were the glowing skull and the very irregular base. I tired to make the skull stand out by making very deep purple shadows around it. I used red, orange and white glazes and appear to glow, but without making it look too orange. Making the base look dark enough was very difficult because it has a very irregular surface and every jagged edge catches the real light and makes it look brighter than I want it to in comparison to the shadow areas on the main figure. In future for a project of this type, I would use a smoother style of base so I have more control over the shadows and lighting like on the main figure. Comments and criticism are welcome.
  5. Managed to completely paint this happy little guy up in short order: Threw the base together last night to cure, but the actual painting time on this one was only a couple hours. I assumed that he’s meant to be floating on magical wisps of etherealness, but lack ethereal-colored paint. However, I have fire and lava colors, so I made it flames. C&C welcome, as always.
  6. These are the goblin musicians from Bones 3. They are still a little shiny because it has been raining like mad here so they have not had their spritz of Dulcote. They have tiny little eyes but they were so fun to paint. I made the little stool goblin be rolling his eyes upwards. He hates his job. The drum carrier is pouting. You know how when you get a song stuck in your head? So does he! He also hates his job. The drummer LOVES his job and gleefully bangs on his drum all day! C&C welcome
  7. Introducing the newest demon lord in my miniatures collection... The Minotaur Demon Lord, aka Baphomet, aka "the Horned King", aka "the Prince of Beasts." This miniature was quite a bit bigger than the metal demon lord minis I've painted previously. A bit of a challenge, but I'm pleased with the result! If anyone is interested in the play-by-play of me painting this miniature, feel free to check out the work in progress thread on the forum. Cheers! -E.E.
  8. These are Giant Ant Soldiers from Otherworld Miniatures. I made a scenic base with Milliput and used the Greenworld Stuff Aztec Rolling Pin on it. Then added a Lizardman Skull from Ristul's Extraordinary Market. WIP here for those interested. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ I painted them with a mix of Scale 75, Reaper and Vallejo paints, From Vallejo I used Fluo Red and Fluo Yellow to give that fiery look. Enjoy, Likes and comments welcome. Thx for watching.
  9. Gauntfield, Necropolis Hero "Harrow, Reidlar of Terror" I bought Gauntfield to specifically use him as my terrifying Reidlar (embodiment of emotions/thoughts), Harrow, for my custom campaign, Markshire. The miniature was perfect for the character ... a detailed scarecrow with a scythe and a bag of bones and other tidbits who pulls unwary adventurers and children into his "Courtyard" to terrorize them with his smaller scarecrows stuffed with raven feathers and twisted ash sticks. This great miniature by Bob Ridolfi was based on a metal slug and I slowly created an eerie, dead tree from skewers, rocks, green stuff, and finally green putty. Then after it was assembled and painted, I decided he needed a pile of leaves around his legs. Ones drawn together by his magic so you'll see traceries of fell yellow magic outlining the leaves. You can see all of the steps leading to this finished piece on the WIP. I present, Harrow. Enjoy. Check him out in the Inspiration Gallery. 10. Yes, Jafar has an evil twin. He decided that "phenomenal cosmic power but itty bitty living space" wasn't his thing so he decided to go a different route to achieve his fame and fortune. His name is Aziz and he has been working on ways to call forth the dead. I am running an Egyptian based Earthdawn game and realized I paint lots of pretty girls and hardly have any guys (good or bad) even though I do buy males. So, for the past couple weeks I have been working on all male figures - mummies, merchants, a cat...hey, it's a boy cat!, and Aziz. Now I am trying to get everything on bases. So, I had considered putting Aziz on a desert base or a temple floor base but I didn't have what I was looking for so went searching through a friend's box of goodies. He tossed me this base and said "Here ya go, make it lava." Well, I didn't "see" lava when I looked at him but thought I could do something to match the green of the flame coming from the skull. I then had the idea of a hand reaching out of the....goo?....slime?....stuff? So, we started digging through the rest of his stuff and found some arms and heads (also bodies but I didn't want the whole thing) so I chose what I wanted and went to work on his base. I also used Chaoswolf's tutorial on making stringy blood to make dripping goo off the zombie guy's hand. Pretty pleased with how it turned out! As for the pictures, the green is bright (Valejo Fluorescent Green) but not quite as bright as the pictures make it look. In the base there is actually some yellow and white swirled in and then I mixed some green ink with realistic water and poured that over everything. You can't really see any of the details in the photos. I might try different photos with lights angled differently or something. Anyway, here he is! Questions, comments, critiques welcome and encouraged!
  11. Mr Bones, kind of what you think he would look like. Enjoy guys :).
  12. I was playing some fallout 4 and had an urge to paint this guy. Don't do much freehand but I am happy with the way the skull came out. Please C&C ;)
  13. Been painting a lot of my sculpts and not paying enough attention to the piles of albino Bones still waiting for paint. So I guess it's time to change that. Tried to make the base look somewhat like fresh ash; not sure if I succeeded. Painting magical fire was a lot of fun; getting rid of mold lines not as fun. All in all, I think it went decent for a tabletop level job. PS: Also, I read somewhere that the unofficial Bones II SKUs are not accurate. Is there an official policy for how to tag unreleased Bones? I could have sworn I saw it somewhere on the forums, but I don't recall where.
  14. Bought myself transparent glowing colors. From now on, every miniature I paint will glow in the dark.....every single one :) front back in the dark I will redo the sword. That's my kryptonite....among other things :)
  15. Slowly getting through all of this project. Hopefully soon I can get a group shot of everything from the kobold warbands finished. Just a few touchups here and there are needed, but these are essentially done. I definitely am ready to start the arena style battling for this game, even if I am still in preference of the skeleton groups. Well enjoy the sights!
  16. My last piece, I'm still thinking about some improvements that can be done (the cape, the head on his chest plate). Suggestions and other comments are more than welcome.
  17. So the 4th book of skull and shackles has a MASSIVE cyclops ruin in the first half and I broke down and Had it printed out for my players on a 1" scale. these are the first two sections of the four part map, we were eyeballing it tonight and realized it would take Four of these gaming tables pushed together to fit all on the "table" I believe the final measurement of the total map is 7.1feet by 5, I got the guys at fedex to print this monster out in black and white after spending about 30 min's editing the file to get the scale just right. total cost $56, players donated $25 to the cost, I know a Lot of people wouldn't do this but I just couldn't resist it, I enjoy running about as much as my friends like playing. Keep in mind the pazio adventure paths come with digital copies of the maps if you get the subscriptions or for a few bucks as a stand alone. Btw you can print them without the location markers but I wasn't too worried about it.
