Normally I stick to Fantasy but recently I acquired 3D files for a wonderful faction of Space Woofs. The Jackals from Onepagerules. Naturally I bought them all... Don't worry citizen, WOOF has no plans to conquer the Galaxy...honest... In the welcome pack of that patreon I also got several Robot Legion Troops and I got some free Alien Hive and Eternal Dynasty minis as well. Combined with a "few" other scifi minis and files I have, I decided it to be time to explore the Galaxy. This is not my first time though. Here are some minis I painted in the past that fit the bill. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/73384-the-elder-god-escapes-his-container-by-glitterwolf/ https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/91382-survivor-dog-by-glitterwolf/ https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78572-50227-dee-dee-astro-girl-with-martian-mindworms-by-glitterwolf/ Enough of that... On to adventures in Space! I present the Jackals. First 3D prints are now curing. A Jackal Assault Beast. Three Jackal Nomads A few Power Packs, Backpack/Rocket pack and an Oil Drum. This will make a nice start. Since I don't play the game I will paint what I like and make up my own stories like you're used from me. Official background for the Jackals:

Tried for a super-hero powered armor look on this guy. You know, dude in a high tech flying suit. I wish Reaper would make more of these guys in different poses for tabletop skirmish games.

“...and I, Colonel Duke Jones, stand on the surface of Mars for all of humankind and in the spirit of exploration that’s taking our species beyond its Earthly bounds. And I’m lighting this cigar to celebrate a successful mission.” “Haha. Good speech, Duke. You're the first human in 76 years to stand on the surface of another planet. How’s it feel to be further from Earth than any other human being?” “Pretty good, Pioneer. It’s humbling and really gives a sense of perspective. The air is thin but breathable. Those terraforming guys did a great job. Hey, the camera’s working, right? This is being broadcast back to Earth?” “Yep, it's all good. There's a delay but they're getting it. Audience figures are even bigger than Kim Kardashian’s state funeral, so well done!” “How do things look from up there in orbit?” “We’re all good, just watching you and keeping an eye on your vitals.” “OK, Pioneer. I’m gonna have another puff on this cigar and—” “Duke, sorry to break in, but Jim just had an idea. The Earth is directly behind you. Could you turn around so we can get a shot of you looking back at it?” “Sure thing, Pioneer.” “How’s this?” “That's just perfect, Duke. Everything’s A-OK.” “Good to know, Pioneer. We're still live, right?” “We certainly are. Jim, you owe me fifty dollars.”

I painted Reaper's Dee Dee Astro Girl from the Chronoscope Line, I put her on a resin base and used a little Scale 75 Moonstone Alchemy so it would appear as if she was searching for minerals. Then the Mindworms emerged! They were made from the eyestalks of the Bones Eyebeast. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/77837-50227-dee-dee-astro-girl-by-glitterwolf/&page=2

This was originally a birthday present last year, a fairly simple German resin ship kit for a medieval-style cog. Since I was playing a Githyanki in Dungeons and Dragons at the time, I modeled, painted, and sewed the vessel up into a more or less spelljammer, since named Black Moon's Bane from events in the game. There is a fairly detailed Work-in-Progress thread for this ship, if anyone has questions about materials or techniques. Or you can ask here; that's fine. A list of materials: Resin ship's hull model, wooden dowels, bamboo chopsticks, bamboo kitchen skewers, acrylic paint, brass wire, silk organza, silk taffeta, wooden furniture peg, jewelry findings (barrel clasps, jump rings), jewelers chain, metal necklace charms, glass seed beads, waxed linen bookbinder's thread, waxed linen carpet warp, silk buttonhole thread, cotton twine, metallic polyester yarn, nylon cord, screw eyes, 1/2" zinc fender washer, various glues The bowsprit (left) is a bamboo chopstick painted and wrapped with brass wire. The hatch on the deck (right) looks down over a forested landscape. The ship's rails are painted with (imaginary) red runes on black, then washed over thinly with silver metallic paint. From some angles the rails look silver and the runes are invisible. From others they show clearly. The ship's wheel (visible at the upper deck on the stern) is a charm bracelet charm with the hanging loop filed off. I nailed and glued it to the post (made from a furniture peg) so that it spins freely. It is mounted on a small fender washer so it can be moved around the ship. The runes around the door to belowdecks are imaginary. I may think of more stuff to say later. Right now I'm a little dazed.

So for the get to know you thread I said I was going to try painting the deva with interference paint. I started with adamantium black as a base coat. Then I used red interference over the top for the skirt. Blue for the armor and wing tips And purple on the wings. When it dried I washed adamantium over the top because the interference likes to settle too thickly in the crevasses even why dry brushed on. I also played with using a little silver to highlight the skin, and to make stars. I still am trying to figure out how I can edge highlight brighter with the interference.

The family decided to make kites for Father's Day at the park. So, after some research I designed a Firefly Sled Kite. Here's a couple of work in progress shots: I will try to get a shot of it flying tomorrow.

So I was thinking of this more and more for a diorama I'm planning. What kind of pet would you imagine someone having on their ship? Additionally what kind of pet would you want on your ship? And why. Your ship being the one you own. Think Firefly, Han Solo, etc. Lastly, links to miniatures that correspond / pictures would be cool too. :)

Still remember the night they sprang it on Bryan that they'd made a figure of him. He was beside himself. He was hilarious. He was overjoyed. And if that wasn't bad enough, they'd got someone to paint up the first one. It looked just like him. At one point, when exposure to Red Kryptonite had turned me evil, I'd obtained quite a few of the Bryan figures, intending to swap the heads out on the entire Cowboys set and then make a Bryan Saloon Girl* for good measure. Fortunately, I returned to normal after Ron reversed the polarity... but it left me with all these Bryan heads sitting in a cup on my workbench. And then... this past Reapercon... digging around in the adoption table... I found this: ...and inspiration struck. I will keep you all informed. *I did get as far as making a Bryan saloonkeeper. With gatling rifle. The rest of the project remains on indefinite hiatus...

My entry for the Spaceship Superstar contest So this is using 77108: Shadow Dragon! Thanks to Ub3r, he provided me the mini for me to compete in the Sci-fi contest. He also provided the idea of a space dragon =P "The planet V-138, a great swirling gas giant located third in its solar system, was ringed by seven moons. Of these moons, only one was inhabitable with a sentient species populating it. These were the Draconis Galaxis, a winged, four legged alien resembling the mythical dragons on Earth. The Draconis Galaxis is not a dragon, but instead an alien that resembles the mythical dragons known by humans. The ancient tales of dragons are actually envoys of Draconis Galaxis trying to make contact with the humans on Earth, but getting mistaken for great beasts and slain. Their planet is in almost constant darkness, with the 'day' being just a low-light change to the landscape as they orbit their planet, so far from the heat giving sun. The Draconis Galaxis therefore has evolved a great tolerance to cold and excellent eye sight to see through the gloom. The patterns of their wings and sides mimic the bright stars and galaxies visible in the skies of their planet, allowing them to fly unseen by prey below." his WIP thread: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56334-space-dragon-wip/ Took a fair few pictures, I'm very proud of how this guy came out. His eyes are painted off the Ring Nebula, thanks minigrinder!

Eyebeast of planet N-12 creature challenge

For the current challenge, I am working on a micro diorama featuring the space mouslings and mtal eyebeast. Comments and help eagerly accepted. -
In this thread I'll post about an experimental, speculative project about 28mm Science Fiction soldiers. These troopers are a sort of air cav/paratroopers but in space. The first part of the project was to figure out a design. I was mostly concerned with it having a coherent look that was practical and aesthetically pleasing. As part of the design process I sculpted and painted this 1:35 scale prototype / design sketch. There are more details about the project on my Blog. Next I might do some sketching, start a couple of 28mm armatures, do another 1:35 sculpt or all of the above. Comments, suggestions, questions and critiques (especially) will be met with deadly gratitude.
