Presenting the Gentlefolk Lancer, part of the Servants of the Engine faction in the game Twisted by Demented Games. Pretty pleased with how he turned out, his colour scheme is (Very loosely) based on a Napoleonic-era Spanish uniform I found online. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

This is s figure that I painted during a speed painting class at Reapercon a couple years ago. I decided to go back and clean up a couple things that I think could have been a little better. I know that's not quite the idea of speed painting, but I brought him to my tabletop standard, so I'm happy with him now.

Presenting the Cleric of Maersuluth, now that Reapers latest painting competition is over I can show off my entry for it! He didn't do particularly well (I think I came last), but I like him and, more importantly, I had a lot of fun painting a mini I probably wouldn't have purchased otherwise. When the Space Pope absolutely needs someone to die very publicly and messily, he calls upon the services of a Mother Superior. One woman armies with no regard for the collateral damage they cause, towns, cities (and, according to legend, the occasional planet) are reduced to ruins as the Mother Superior single-mindedly pursues her target. Often the eternal struggle to protect Mankind from the Horrors that lurk beyond the stars requires subtlety, but occasionally, you want to send a stonking great message about the consequences of meddling with things you don't understand. Presenting a Mother Superior (AKA Morvenn Vahl, a hero from Warhammer 40k's Sisters of Battle faction), a terrifyingly unstoppable force of divine judgement. Bit of a mixed bag this one, I'm happy with a lot of it, but some bits could be better (like the terrible job I did on her face). At least she's finally done now. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting Tirinha Fallowheart, a Dreadmere faction mini made by Reaper. Didn't put much effort into this one, it's a nice mini but I think mine is a bit miscast (her details are a little soft and mushy in places). As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting Sakana (Not sure if this is the regular or veteran version), a member of the Fisherman team from the, now defunct, game Guild Ball by Steamforged Games. This guy was one of those weird Guild Ball minis where I'm not quite sure what's going on with their outfit, I still can't figure out if he's wearing a roll-neck vest or just has a odd neck and, now looking at it in piccy form, I'm pretty sure the top half of his trousers aren't actually trousers. He still came out okay though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting the veteran version of Minx, a character in the sadly now defunct game of Guild Ball by Steamforged Games. She's being sitting in the 'Cupboard Of Unfinished Things' for a couple of years now, so it feels good to finally get her finished. As always any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting the Ogre Tyrant by Games Workshop, he is very heavily armed. This one took a while, it's very much one of those minis where the more you work on it, the more details you find. I am very pleased with how he turned out though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Hi everyone, here are pictures of my latest Gnoll, a converted Toghra the Gnoll Leader. The upper part is from 77235, Toghra the Gnoll Leader sculpted by Jason Wiebe. The lower part of the mini is 77236, Bloodmane Gnoll Warrior sculpted by Tre Manor. The spear head is the blade of 02757, Gastaroth the Vampire sculpted by Werner Klocke and the staff is from 14056 Weapon Pack 1 sculpted by Tim Kaufman. Presenting Mary Jo, a member of the River Widows faction from Reapers Dreadmere setting. Had a lot of fun painting this one, and as a bonus she turned out pretty decent too! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting my first (and probably last) Sophie mini, Mermaid Sophie! Got stuck on her wings so she sat unfinished for a long while, and I never did manage to give her non-googly eyes, but overall I think she turned out decent. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Yet another new thread! (At some point I really should think about starting a blog, or whatever the cool kids do these days, instead of cluttering up the forum with my stuff.) While it's possibly a banning offence, I've gotta admit I don't particularly care for Sophie or her various minis, but this one really leapt out at me. I may have made things extra hard for myself by fully assembling everything, but she has little, dainty feet so I was never going to be able to pin her to a cork. Started with her skin (1:1 Rosy Skin/Beastly Brown > Flesh Wash > 1:1 Rosy Skin/Beastly Brown > 1:1:1 Rosy Skin/Light Skin/Beastly Brown), I was trying to give her a tan, but I don't think it's as simple as adding brown to the skin colour, however the colour I did end up with is rather nice. It's hard to see, but she also has (slightly googly) eyes, lip and eye makeup (1:1:1:2 Rosy Skin/Light Skin/Beastly Brown/Hexed Lichen) and eyebrows (Scarlett Red), I also basecoated her hair while I had the Scarlett Red out.

Presenting Bregan, a rather happy looking Valkyrie. A bit of an odd sculpt this one, but lots of fun to paint. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

I somehow forgot to post this guy when I finished him last year. I painted him shortly after I finished his queenly counterpart. I had some issues with the ice on the base so it didn't turn out exactly as I hoped but it's ok. Painting these big guys is sure a whole different experience to painting the "normal" sized minis.

Oh that Werner, he's done it again! Let me introduce you to Vanja, the Fire Giant Queen - original size. She's a great size for an Ogre and as a Player Character. Bones once again! Great level of detail allows so much to be done to bring life to the face. Her armor reminds me of my SCA rig. Autumn hue, same palette as the Huge variation posted earlier. Underpainting/sketching used before paint. Plus! Pushed contrast. (Something a little bird taught me.) Gonna paint another. Enjoy.

For my upcoming Dragon Age campaign. I thought they looked like they need to pee, but a buddy elsewhere described them as Bone Strippers, and now I can't unsee that.

I painted this lady for the Reaper facebook contest and also for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. She is going to be a demigoddess named Vahanna. I have plans for her! I painted each scale on her skirt and cloak individually. Nuts! I like how it turned out. The hair sculpt felt a little unfinished to me. The rest of her is beautiful. Her back and her..derriere are nicely sculpted and then covered up with the cloak. Oh well. She is a cool mini and I thought she had a pretty yet stern and serious face. I included a picture of her with the Frost Giant Queen. They are my Fire & Ice ladies!

From the thick bushes on either side of the road, a volley of javelins flies towards you. You try to take cover while a second volley is hurled. Heavy rain makes it uneasy to see anything. The bushes rustle, and your assailants appear next to you. It's a group of four reptilian humanoids about six feet tall. Their roughened leathery scales shift from grayish brown to green. A disgusting smell sickens you as the chameleon-like creatures attack you with their primitive weapons, their teeth and claws. Here are the Lizardmen, Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Gene Van Horne. For your consideration, I offer you the Frost Giant King from the Bones 3 Kickstarter. He is the pair to the Frost Giant Queen and I am not disappointed in the sculpt. This miniature (bigature?) is packed with details and a metric-ton of space to paint and practice textures. The level of detail for Bones miniatures continues to impress me. The King and Queen were both primed with Krylon and sealed with Dull Cote and neither exhibits tackiness. The bits that stick out - like the butt of the spear - did rub off when I handled it during painting. I really had to work my way from the inside out to paint this big guy. The fur textures on the fur cape was an enjoyable ride. I look forward to seeing what others do with this team of Giants, and I'm eyeballing the release schedule for the Frost Giant Guards. I recommend purchasing the Royalty as soon as they are available. Gratitude for all who participated in the WiP thread. Your enthusiasm kept me going. #respect #gratitude I hope you enjoy. :)

So here is another one in my little series of old and new. I was actually going to post this yesterday as well, but I didn't have a good front shot. So this is a Grenadier Elf or Half Elf fighter, from their twenty-piece woodlands adventure box. I painted this figure way back in the eighties to be one of my player characters Renny back in the day when we played D&D at Star Realm in Omaha. Back then there was a buy named Bill if I remember correctly from Offutt who was our DM, another guy, I think Roy, and then another random assortment of teenagers. and a shot from behind, where you'll see there's lots of grass stuck to the base. I think I just didn't wait long enough for his sealant on the base to dry before I stuck him into the grass. I always paint the base black again and then seal, because I will have ultimately made a mess all over the base while painting it. Not too worried though, these are being painted just for fun. and here's the front shot I was missing yesterday, where you can see a bit of difference in the shield and face: and then just some shots of them in the same photo: So there you have them, a small journey into my adolescent past, up to my current almost 50 year old self, who as per my beautiful wife, is still probably somehow stuck back in the past with my fascination for "muñequitos". Like I mentioned in my previous posts I've got a few more of these yet to be started, that I'll probably do when I'm "between projects". Anyhoos, enjoy!
